Game is complete.

Southern Alabama gave us a heck of a battle because we can't cover a pass and they figured out how to read my zone blitz. They couldn't stop my ground game though.

My starting QB is going to get benched next week. He can't hit the broadside of a barn and has a glass jaw.

Game is over.
Started shaky early. Had to bench my 3 year star HB Newby. He just could get nothing going. Had a freshman who had been spelling him who was named an impact player this week so right before half we inserted him and he seemed to have a little extra jump in his step. First play of the 2nd half I run a draw up the middle for an 81 yard TD and it was on from there.

We had 7 visitors in the house and we checked every box except 2 INTS by DBs....the bad part? I had 1 INT that counted and 3 more that were each taken off the board because of Roughing the Passer calls on the plays where the INTs happened.

We pulled away late and stayed unbeaten.

Really hoping for a few commits this week.

No game this week but a HUGE week as we signed 5 prospects fresh off their OVs last weekend.

We signed our primary G target who will allow us to focus those points on others.
We need 3 if not 4 DEs and we went a long way in signing 2 this week. Both are destined to be career backups behind the freshman stud we signed last year but again frees up recruiting time and provides Depth.

Most excited about the 2 ATH we signed.
Andy Smith is a 4* the game sees at FS. But 95 Speed and 80 Catching suggests he play some WR as well. Add in his 80 man coverage and 70 tackling and CB is also an option.
Derrick Matthews is another 4* ATH we all see as an OLB and I am very thin at both OLB and MLB numbers so he will be much welcomed.

Good luck in the games to my fellow humans.

Game complete. Miss. State gave us a game up until the 3rd and my QB decided to play like the baller he is.

It was a high scoring game and it was fun, and much needed.

I am going to try and squeeze my game in tonight. I fly out to Barbados tomorrow and I am there until the 23rd. I then come back and fly to Utah for Christmas on the 24th until the 30th.

So If I don't get it done today / tonight I will have to have you sim it so I don't hold the league back.

We barely scraped out a win in a game we should have dominated.. Lots of near miss plays that went in the opponents favor and my throws were just a little off in this one.. Leading the receiver too little, not throwing it hard enough to get it to the receiver in time, etc. Threw 3 picks on the way to the worst passing game I have had in a while, but a W is a W I suppose. Should be closing on 4-5 more recruits this week to give us a somewhat ok class coming down the home stretch.

What an awesome win against Auburn with about 7 recruits visiting. We were down 14 at one point in time. We were going to be down by 21 but a goal line stand for 4 straight plays turned the ball over on our one. We marched down the field and scored and then it turned into a slug fest for the rest of the game.

I switched up from Man / Zone into some zone blitzing schemes in the third and it was effective as we got pressure on their QB and forced some dumb throws with my DB's making them pay.

It felt good to win this game.

We beat #15 Boise St.

Thats about all I can say about it.
They threw 5 INTs if not for that we'd have lost.

But survive and advance.

We pull out a 51-49 win over SMU at their place.. The team has been struggling mightily to get stuff done offensively, but I think the 5 OT's actually got us back in a groove. Could have ended this one in regulation but I shanked a 38 yard FG that would have won it 20-17 for us.

Just a hugely frustrating, arduous, sloppy, but triumphant game.

Fun too.

We got out of Eugene with a win over the Ducks. Both teams QB's went down just before half. The back ups battled the second half where we were able to shut down their attack after they held a brief 3rd quarter lead.

My QB is out for a few weeks. Looks like I will have to roll against a few ranked teams with the back up swinging the hammer.

#1 No more.

Went up 28-7 in the first quarter. Lost 35-31.

It was one of those games where it wasn't going to let me win.
No amount of play was going to save this one.

We did our best but lost our first regular season game in 3 seasons.

Sigh. With this season a bust will likely move from my senior pocket statue QB to the dual threat Freshman I need to get experience fast.

Really puts a damper on my season.

Bah Humbug. My players are practicing Christmas day for sure now.

I will neither confirm or deny there was a curb stomp of Clemson that took place last night.

My defense decided to show up and play the game of their life, my offense kept on clicking,...it felt....very good, especially with 7 more recruits watching.

The ugly wins continue, 35-25 over Tulsa. We were down 25-21 with 5 minutes left. Manning started something like 0-6 with 3 picks and 2 drops. Went 30-38 for 435 and 2 scores the rest of the way.

FB Mueller with 3 more scores to bring his total to 24 for the season.

Game is done, we lost our starting QB for the game, then the 2nd stringer is now out for 10 weeks and we were down to our 3rd string QB.

We pulled off the win...and it was tight going into the 4th.

For the first time ever my Defense showed up.

#10 UCLA came a visiting and until their garbage TD with under 2:00 to go they were shut out.
They finished the game with 80 yards of total O and 4 first downs.

The new starters at QB and RB really showed out, even though we sat the entire 1st team O the the entire 4th quarter and a large chunk of the 3rd as well.

Good game, Julio. It was close at halftime, but you dominated the 2nd half. Completely stopped my run, and while my QB threw for a ton of yards, the two red zone picks were killer.

Cartman and I got our game in, and after a back and forth first half full of fireworks, the second half was a more methodical one. Our defense stepped up finally after a crazy first half of giving up bombs in 4 deep coverage and a catch on Cartmans first TD that I was baffled as to why I could not challenge it.. My DB tipped it up in the air and his receiver came down with it well out of bounds, but the refs gave him the TD. Weird, wild stuff.

The first half ended with us up 35-28 and no end in sight for either teams offense. In the second half, we managed to shut them out, no small feat given how well Cartman was throwing the ball around. Absolutely torched us through the air, but were able to knock down some contested balls and make a couple big interceptions in the second half and that was all the difference.

We had a WR in this game who I was ready to cut at one point.. Dude ended up with 4 drops on the game, at least one that was a drive killer. He is a freshman though, I guess that happens sometimes with the youngsters.

GG Cartman, I feel like if we didn't slow your run game down as well as we did, this would have been a nail biter at best given how poorly we executed on offense in the second half. Your DE made an insane play on that interception he made too, I laughed out loud at his big body flopping backwards and snagging that shallow slant. Soft hands on the big guy.

Good luck going forward, man.

Wow, The computer actually cheated, like full on, illegal play actual cheat.

I lost the game because Ole Miss was better, but damn..

Computer is lined up, 4 and goal on our 2. CPU lines up in a shotgun formation.

Snap happens, it's not hiked to the QB, Center keeps it and runs in to the end zone. The computer didn't signal a TD until the Center was at the back of the end zone in the back white part. It was crazy, I tried to challenge the play, all I could do was challenge the spot.

OH well....

I had the CPU run a C sneak on me once, I think it was a glitch. It reminded me of my old school backyard football days where the ball only had to touch the QB's hands before the C could just run it himself.

31-21 over Nevada, nothing pretty. We were up 17-14 with 5 minutes left before I decided to bench my QB and put in the backup.. Backup only went 2/5, but threw our only TD pass. Spent the last 5 minutes mostly running the ball down Nevada's throat out of anger.

I don't expect this team to reach elite status for another 3-4 seasons, but at least we're starting to pull in players consistently.

Not a real great win, but a win nonetheless. Our defense is just not very good. 42-32 over UTSA.

Hopefully a few of our 10 remaining scholarships sign between this week and next and give us a pretty clear cut final week of recruiting this off season.
