Hulu Plus

Is a subscription to Hulu Plus worthwhile? Do they have a good selection? Any reasons not to?

Hulu Plus is great if you watch TV over the air. Sometimes your antenna reception may get screwy due to weather and Hulu Plus is a great back up (well for shows on ABC, Fox, and NBC). Aside from that, it really isn't worth it - unless you don't have a DVR.

It's worth it if you don't have cable. If you do, then it's not.

I just get points from doing searches from the Bing Tool Bar. You can get 15-17 points/day, and the Hulu Plus month only costs 420 points. I got my Roku at Christmas 2013 and have had Hulu Plus since. Haven't paid for it yet, and I won't get charged until May.

I don't think I would get it if I had to pay for it, although I do have cable with a DVR.

I concur with dfisher. I get about 26-27 points a day, so I get a free month every three weeks.

That being said, I wouldn't pay for it. It's a nice service and I use it to watch shows at lunch when I don't use DirecTV's geniego app, but not enough content. If it has now cable content, it would probably be worth paying for.

It has just enough shows I want to see that it's annoying. Vikings, Fargo and a few other things.

How does one get points from this bing bar? Simple as downloading it and using it to perform normal run of the mill searches?

Just sign up for a bing account and perform searches from the bing website. I use it to get $5 Amazon gift cards every few weeks.

Fargo isn't on Hulu Plus, unless you mean the movie.

Things I use Hulu Plus for:

1). Watching shows currently on TV that I normally miss - SHIELD, Gotham, Flash, Arrow, Agent Carter, Brooklyn 99

2). Back watching a bunch of TV shows that I think about in their back catalog - Melissa and Joey, Millionaire Matchmaker, Bravestarr, Defenders of teh Earth, Spider-Man Unlimited, etc

3). Checking out a film or TV show to see if its something with it. I just did that with Showgirls this weekend. It sucked, I stopped soon on in. I am often surprised by stuff out there. There was a BBC show set in Greek Mythology called Atlantis? Let;s check it out! Is it good? (No)

4). Watching the occasional nature show (typically on the BBC channel)

5). Knowing and watching any recent reality TV stuff I follow (I like HouseHunters International, for example. See also: the various Alaska shows, and survival shows)

6). The occasional documentary film. I've watched around 10 or so documentary films on it in the last 4 months.

I use Hulu Plus quite a bit. I mostly have it because I do most of my streaming on my phone, and there is a ton of content that you can't get on mobile devices without having a Plus account.

It's great for NBC and ABC shows along with a lot of older shows. Not quite as much selection as Netflix, but different content. I also like it because I watch The Daily Show and now The Nightly Show on my phone the next morning while I get ready for work.

Movies are horrible. Just horrible. There might be 10 decent movies on HP at any given time.

Ahh but I have to use a PC and IE. Those are two deal breakers for me at work (and frankly IE might be one at home).

We have Hulu Plus mainly so my wife can watch some various network and HGTV shows since we no longer have cable (and while our antenna - and DVR - can get ABC, CBS & NBC OK, it's kinda spotty). But she's not using it much so we might cancel.

We use Amazon Instant Video, with a Prime account, much, much more.

It depends on what you want to watch I guess.

However, you can find 12 month codes on ebay for so cheap that it's worth it. I think I paid 30 bucks for one a few months back.
