IWS #229 - On the Road Again - The Results!!!
IWS #229 On the Road Again The Results
1. How many hours would it take to travel from Chicago to Orlando by car, assuming safe highway speeds, an overnight stay and a few food and restroom breaks? 30 3 24 2 48 2 18, 25, 35, 36, 40 1 The nice round number takes the cake! The overnight stay point to a number greater than 24 30 was it. 2. Stupid decided to rent a vehicle for him and Mrs. Stupid to drive down to Florida. What super cool ride did they request? Mustang 7 Malibu, Lexus, SUV Cadillac, no response 1 The first eliminator of the contest some wanted a convertible but in the end a mustang is a mustang! 3. Stupid took a look at the map and found out the hotel that they booked for their overnight stay is right next to one of the biggest tourist stops in the area. What tourist trap did Stupid insist they visit before they got back on the road? Dollywood, Amusement Park, World of Coke, Grand Ole Opry 2 Graceland, Mt Rushmore, St Augustine Alligator Farm, The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota 1 All over the place on this one I figured that a place near Nashville or Atlanta would be the answer I just didnt realize that amusement parks would be that big of a draw! I could have grouped the Nashville stops together but I think clarity is always better. 4. We all know Sammy Hagar couldn't drive 55... neither can Stupid. What cruising speed does Stupid like to travel at while on the open road with no traffic (or police cars) around? 70 6 75 3 80 2 65 1 Everybody seems to like going a bit quicker but not too quick. I thought that the no police cars around comment would push people to higher numbers. I was wrong. 5. What is the most iconic highway drive in the continental US? Route 66 9 US 1 2 US 101 1 The 2nd eliminator of the contest Route 66 is just way to well known. I prefer US 101 but oh well. 6. What is the best movie of all time featuring road trips and/or highway driving? National Lampoons Vacation 5 Planes, Trains and Automobiles 3 Easy Rider 2 Thelma & Louise, Dumb and Dumber 1 This one was very tight up until the last 3 submissions. In the end the Griswolds were too much to handle! *************************** Driving a Mustang at 70 MPH along Route 66 was a must to win this game Without further ado.. Stuck on the Coasts! Code:

I'm still not sure how everyone knew Mustang for the car one. What am I missing?
Oh, and whoever answered Mt. Rushmore for the attraction is my new favorite IWS player. What a great answer. |

I went with Mustang because it's a cheap sports car. And with Rushmore, you're welcome.

There aren't many 'super cool' rides available from the rental agencies.

I'm the only one that went with "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota"?
And I thought we had Weird Al fans on this board.

Good one. I didn't notice it until past the entry deadline, so I didn't play, but I would have done great except for the Mustang one. Maybe because I own one, and I know for a fact I'm not super cool.

Did we seriously never get #230 out of cartman, or did my search method fail me?

Dang. I meant to take some time until the next one, as we had several right in a row. Didn't mean for it to be this long.
I'll see about getting a new one up soon.
