RIP, Moses.

...and here's Moses (#4 on the list) in his last year in the league in 1994 with the highly unlikely 3-pt buzzer beater.

Wilt died around this age, too. Bill Walton is in terrible shape. It seems that being a seven-footer is not good for your health. It would be interesting to learn which 7-footers, if any, have made it to 70.

Yes, he's 68. And Rich Niemann, a 7-footer I actually worked with (he became a chemical salesman) is 69 and going.

Jack Haley, listed at 6-10 died recently, too.

It is really hard to come up with a list.

George Mikan made it to 80, but he was "only" 6'10". Bill Russell is an inch shorter and is 81. John Thompson (6'10") is 74. Couple off the top of my head.

On the other side of that, Manute Bol died at 47. A lot of those really tall centers that came out in the 80s and 90s are approaching 60. Eaton, Sampson, and Nevitt are all in their mid to upper 50s. Have to wonder if that kind of size takes a toll on the body.

Looked up Robert Parrish too, he's 62. And Jack Sikma, he's 59.

Don't know what he died of, but being extremely tall would definitely carry an increased risk for heart disease and cancer.

I can't remember where I read/heard it, but it does put extra strain on the heart, for sure, as well as problems with circulation and the complications that can arise from that.

I wouldn't doubt some of these guys have some of the characteristics of Marfan's Syndrome.
