It was always going to be Russian Roulette with him. RIP. Wish I'd taken the chance to see you when I had it. We all knew, but always wished it was never going to happen.

They last had Chester Pennington singing, but I think he left, so not sure now. Weiland had been doing his own thing for a while. He was a talented guy, sad and a waste, but not at all surprised. RIP |

Sad.
I saw STP back 96-97 time frame. Best concert I've ever been to.

Not exactly a surprise but ... local coverage says a small amount of cocaine was found in Weiland's sleeping quarters & his bass player has been arrested for possession of the same
Trade publication coverage of the same details Cocaine Found on Scott Weiland's Tour Bus, Bassist Arrested

I always really liked STP, Weiland's solo work, and generally enjoyed Velvet Revolver. It's impossible for me to listen to a song like Vasoline and not want to just thrash around, it is just rip-roaring good.
I also was always really surprised that Weiland continued to survive. I had pretty much assumed he was my era's Keith Richards at this point. Guess not. RIP.

"Lazy Divey" is a B-Side off Scott Weiland's first solo record, "12 Bar Blues". It was included on the first copies of the album, but quickly taken off likely due to legal issues.

STPs was one the the very few new bands I got into in the 90's.

Yeah was a bummer. They had some really quality hits in their catalog and those songs were sold by his voice. The STP touring with the dude from Linkin Park is a glorified cover band. Chester sounds fine, it's just...he can't hold a candle to Scott.
Hope Scott has peace. Last edited by Young Drachma : 12-05-2015 at 10:48 AM. |
