Aw, no. That's rough.
On a related note, is that a first for the FOFC community? Are there others among us who should also be so remembered?

A grim but good reminder that you should always get yearly checkups. These kinds of things can be prevented, even with those with a family history of heart ailments.

IIRC, st.cronin's issues were more complicated than that. Health was part of it, but I also think he got into a relationship where his wife/GF didn't want him online so much, so he quit some of his fave Internet haunts. I also think he was tired of some of the stuff others have left FOFC for. A shame, he was a good dude around here.

I've done some asking around, and it seems that it's unlikely that Manu would have wanted people to give to a charity in his name. For those who have inquired about that, I recommend giving to a local charity of your choice, perhaps something related to heart ailments.

The American Heart Association also sponsors several 5K runs. May be a good opportunity to reevaluate your own health and take some steps towards improving.

Makes me wonder as this group matures if we couldn't get a little something together and get it where it needs to go.

Oh shit! I didn't notice this thread until now.
I'm really socked, he was a really nice guy and I really appreciated him. Sadly this will become more of a trend one day as we all are getting older and around 40, hope will be many years from now and we can stick as the great group we have. You guys are a big part of my life, helped me in hard times like when I lost my first daughter, made me happy and to laugh at some times, gave me samples of valor, honor and principles, how to fight for what you want to accomplish, etc. Believe it or not, Fofc has also helped me a lot to improve my English language and specially understanding the USA culture and lifestyle. Both have helped me a lot in my career to reach what I am now, specially now that I travel a lot to USA and Canada to meet with customers and can surprise them with my love for Usa sports and knowledge about the Usa way of life in general being an European guy. My wife knows Fofc as that usa football game forum where nobody talks about football games that much. For me it's like a friends club, where you can share what you wouldn't with other people closer to you, both the good and bad stuff. Weird how much this loss has affected me, or maybe it just proves what I said above.

Next Sunday will be Manu's first "death birthday". I'll be playing Hallelujah with my cover band in memory of Manu during our rehearsal next sunday.
As said in the original post, if you have some spare money you wnat to give to a local charity, that can't be a bad move. I personnaly have given more money to "Secours populaire" specificaly this week in memory of Manu. Life is a fragile thing. Make good usage of it and enjoy life as much as you can. Remember that life is short. Peace. |
