Stupid hypothetical question
Would you give up color vision to add ten healthy years to your life? You'd still have black and white vision in this situation.

Would I be giving up color vision from now until I die? Or only for those extra 10 years?

Nah, would make gaming too hard.

Sure I would. Plenty of people have color blindness and aren't particularly more unhappy than anyone else. So yeah, I suppose I would if it were a real choice for 10 more healthy years than I'd have otherwise. |

Yes. You lose color vision the second you agree to the deal. And the offer expires in 30 days. (No loopholes where you wait until you are about to die, then sign the deal.) Last edited by Kodos : 04-18-2016 at 11:30 AM. |

As an architect... Nope, my career would be in the shitter.

Am I familiar with color vision? Seems like it would be easier to be born color blind, deaf, blind... than it would to lose one of those senses after having experienced them. |

My youngest kid is 5. Taking the deal means that, even if I were destined to die tomorrow, I'd still be around for him until he is 15.
I think that I'd take the deal. |

I think you'd get used to it pretty quickly.

So am I guaranteed not to die for the next 10 years, regardless of what stupid stuff I do?

Yes. You will be in good health for at least the next ten years. (Really, it's more tacking on ten healthy years from whenever your health would otherwise start to decline.)

When you factor in kids, I think you have to take the deal.

I'm colorblind already.
Now the question is do I still see like a colorblind person or do I see in greyscale, like a black and white printer output. The latter would make driving impossible and also negate a whole bunch of other joys. The former...no biggie. As an electrician I hid my colorblindness like a scarlett A for 20 years, though |

I don't think the real point is to say that now you have a decade of absurd super powers where you can jump off a skyscraper and live, etc. More that you're bargaining for a ten year stay before the general age-related decline that people undergo at some point. |

Exactly. You hit pause on age-related decline for 10 years. |

I'm picturing it like black-and-white TV or photographs. Actually, your night vision would get better because we're replacing all of your cones (color) with rods (b&w) on your retina. Last edited by Kodos : 04-18-2016 at 01:23 PM. |

fwiw, this is pretty much what I interpreted the question to mean (hence my gaming related answer)

I am deaf in my right ear, losing my hearing in my left and my vision is going to hell already...
I would take 10 healthy years to see in B&W, it means I would get to at least experience grandkids from most of my kids (My kids and future step kids)
