That's because he had John Paul Jones on bass and Jimmy Page writing songs and playing the other guitar. Then he had Keith Moon on drums.

If Mayhem or Deicide doesn't show up in this contest, I'm going to be all sorts of pissed off.

It seems like a pretty straight-up rock list so far, and punk rock and heavy metal will get some of the usual crumbs, but that's about it.

I went Black Keys, then Billy Squier, then QOTSA for the newer versus older match ups in question and Im in that older group of voters. I like Radiohead and Creep is a great song. But Squier has some great stuff, check out the Don't Say No album. He also has a song called The Big Beat that is the most sampled song by Rappers, interesting. I think the Black Keys and Queens are going to be hall of famers from the 2K era. Along with the White Stripes. I would like to see some even more current rock bands like Royal Blood make the poll, but maybe that is just too new for this. |

Watching with interest from the UK.
The Beatles, Elvis, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Queen and Oasis dominated pretty good here. |

My favorite Flo and Eddie story of the turtles...whenever they would appear anywhere on TV to sing a song, Flo would bring a silly instrument like a Fench Horn or Tuba or something that doesn't appear in the song at all just to thumb his nose at the whole lip syncing thing.

Still don't get the adoration for Radiohead. Every time I listen to anything from them I get so depressed that I want to put a bullet to my brain (figuratively).

I adore Pete Townsend's solo work... heck whenever he demoed a song for the others in the who he would make it a full song with all the parts.
Love this cover of the english beat |

They may not be for everyone, but they are one of the most innovative "mainstream" bands out there (I say "mainstream" only to distinguish them from any number of other innovative bands that have yet to break through in a big way internationally).

Someone once told me to give a listen to QOTS for some of these same reasons, and it just didn't do it for me.
I am disappointed if the Black Keys don't move on. And Radiohead is terrific.

I really like this Pete Townsend song. (It was released as a single for Roger Daltrey.)

No upsets, though Motorhead needed a big push at the end to edge ahead of Jeff Beck.
