This is a tough one for me. I'm torn between Sanders and Warren. It's like they are 1A and 1B for me. The only thing that I'm wary of with Sanders is his age and that was before his heart issue a couple of weeks ago.

I like both Sanders and Warren, but I think we need them in the Senate.
I voted for Pete based on him being a young, moderate, sensisble-sounding candidate. Last edited by Kodos : 10-17-2019 at 10:51 AM. |

Yang Gang right now.
I still knock Biden down my list because he voted for the Iraq War. Warren and Sanders wants to spend lots of money but none of it will go to me. At least I'll see a piece of the freedom dividend. Mayor Pete needs a better resume than just being mayor of a moderate city.

That's the catch I'm worried about. Lose one and there's the possibility of that seat being taken by a republican. I highly doubt we would see a Warren/Sanders or Sanders/Warren ticket, so that's why I say one seat. And this is the rub for me. I'm tried of the old men running for president. I want to see some new, younger blood in the game and glad people like Pete, Kamala and Castro are running, as hopefully it will bring the younger liberal and progressives to the polls. In the end, regardless of who gets the nomination, I will be voting for them...even Joe (please don't let it be Joe...)

Hell, I would have voted for Marianne Williamson over Trump. Whoever wins has my vote in the general.
But yeah, we really need some new blood and some new perspectives. The old people have had their time. Last edited by Kodos : 10-17-2019 at 11:17 AM. |

Oh same here! I mean, she seems more suited for the Green Party (they seem to like candidates like her), but, the bar is so low with trump, that she would be the better choice. Totally agree. Since I'm pushing the half century mark, a lot of my voting has gone from what will benefit me, to what will benefit the younger generations. The boomers (yes I'm painting with a wide brush) have really screwed over my generation and the ones after mine. I've seen my mom go from a 60s/70s hippy, love every one, be kind person, to a trump voter. There's not enough Picard face palms in the universe for that one.

Steve "Rainbow" Trout is. And he's got key market appeal, having pitched in Chicago (both sides), New York, and Seattle.

Yang. Watching him up there, I can't escape the feeling that he's the only one who knows where we're really going as a country, is willing to acknowledge it, and has real ideas about how to react to those things. I have no way to judge how effective he or any other candidate would actually be, but the rest don't feel real to me, they're just yelling and trying to get people riled up enough to send them money
I do also really like mayor Pete. But I don't remember another candidate like Yang. Last edited by molson : 10-17-2019 at 02:36 PM. |

I'd still vote for Biden right now over Warren or Sanders.
A younger pick for VP will set the stage for the future. Last edited by Edward64 : 10-17-2019 at 01:29 PM. |

I've seen people question what a Warren or Sanders would be able to get done if elected. But will there be enough moderate Republicans for anyone to work with after the 2020 elections? As of right now the republican party is pretty much get on the Trump train or you're a liberal so I struggle to see Biden being able to work with the GOP as much of a plus right now.

This, I really like Booker, but it will be between Biden and Warren and they both would have my vote. I have only voted R more than D over my lifetime, and never voted straight party ever. But the 2020 ballot will be a first for me. Straight Dem across the board, both to get rid of Trump and because I am appalled at how many Republicans enable that fucker. |

As of today, it would be Warren. If I felt like anyone of the lower candidates could actually win the nomination, I would go that way. I just prefer her over Biden and Sanders, and it looks right now they are the only three who can win. My preference would be Booker or Harris.

Booker>Buttigieg>Harris>Castro>Yang and then I have to make tough choices.
It's time for a new generation of leadership.

I'm a big Warren fan. Booker is probably my #2.
I'm not a huge fan of Sanders as I don't think he'd actually compromise at all to get things passed. I'm don't really like Buttigieg either as I don't think he really has any fixed positions (he sounded far more progressive when he came into the race and has shifted to I'm a moderate) and I don't think he really has the experience. I'm meh on Harris as she flip-flops as much as Biden (or Buttigieg). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Vermont is weird enough an(other) I who doesn't always caucus with the Democrats could win, and maybe Scott Brown could win a(nother) special election IF Trump has lost & the it's not for control of the Senate, but I think it'd stay a pretty safe Dem seat in either VT or Mass.

I'm a Canadian, so take this for what it's worth. Biden, Warren and Sanders all seem "old."
When was the last time that an "old" Democrat galvanized voters? Has there ever been a Democrat who was 70 when they were elected president for the first time? Even 60 for that matter? It seems that the undecided all feel that if they are going to vote for someone old, it's going to be a Republican. I wouldn't anticipate a Democrat win with any of those three that I mentioned. |

Consider there have only been 2 Presidents in US History that were 70 while in office: Reagan and Trump (only Trump was 70 entering office). But people are living longer and 70 years old folks can still seem energetic in ways they couldn't previously.

My mom is a crumpled fucking raisin at 73, it seems crazy to me that we're talking about a potential contest between 70 year olds. Even setting aside the whole health thing, how many 70 year olds do you know who can grasp even a tiny fraction of modern technology and/or culture?

36 votes in and I'm the first Sanders vote here...
Also interesting to see Booker's support so high (so far, he is currently in 2nd). He is my second choice and the first candidate I've ever given money to. Last edited by Front Office Midget : 10-18-2019 at 03:17 AM. |

I've never voted for a Democrat for President in my life, but if the election were today three-to-one it'd be Warren. Not without a lot of reservations, but suffice to say it'd be a lot easier for me to stomach her than most of the others. .

On the age thing, there never has been and never will be a point in time when I'm capable of anything close to the workload my grandpa did when he was in his 60s. In his freaking 90s he was still doing things like helping paint outbuildings etc. So basically I care a lot more about someone's capabilities than their age.

Might need several octopi to achieve that, haha! My mom's reasoning for voting for him...and I'm paraphrasing here, "He tells it like it is" and "I'm not voting for Hillary just because she's a woman". Now this is from the woman who was physically and verbally harassed at previous jobs when she was in her 20s and 30s. It's like some kind of Stockholm syndrome. Trumpholm Syndrome.

My twin brother who was in the Air Force for 20 years, and still works in the federal govt is one of the diehard Republicans in my family. He was visiting this week Thinks Trump is a disaster but still doesn't think Trump has done anything illegal/unethical. First words out of his mouth about the Mueller Report which he says he's read is "No Collusion". When I tried to explain why Mueller didn't say that there was and why he didn't indite him on anything, he wouldn't accept any of my reasoning for it. Says Trump was still the best thing ever for this country because he's clearing out the corruption in the country despite the fact that so many of his Cabinet members were forced out because of corrupton, says Hillary should be in jail for her email scandal...what can I do but bang my head against the wall? They just feel the country should be run differently than me and are not going to change.
Thinks Biden and his son are totally corrupt-won't vote for an older Democrat because they have become corrupt being in the federal govt for so long, and thinks any of the younger Dems running (except Gabbard) may be too far left/socialist for him. Does seem a bit interested in Warren though which is a bit surprising. I suppose I would vote for Mayor B but given what we have been through last 3 years with Trump does he have enough experience/knowledge of how the federal govt runs to help repair this country? And I think evangelicals will come out in force to make sure a gay man is not President. Biden and Sanders are just too old (and in Sanders case unhealthy and too far left). I think if any of older Dems are the nominee, they have to go with someone younger for VP or they won't have much of a chance in the general election.

I have heard of a lot of interest in Warren from unexpected areas. I do think her going into West Virginia to talk about the opiod crisis and going after big businesses makes right wing folks want to hear what she has to say. In ways that are differnt than Sanders - I think perhaps they feel Warren will listen to them (even if she disagrees) whereas Sanders won't.

I think maybe part of Warrens appeal to some conservatives and republicans is that she was formerly a republican (not sure in any elected capacity though). I'm totally speculating though as to why they might.

It was the 80s and I went to a democratic caucus when I lived in Iowa. What an interesting process.
Anyway, I was young threw my vote in with Jesse Jackson. Yes, some of you will laugh and scoff at my gransition to a right leaning individual as I gradually trend back left. This time I went Yang. I like this dude. Too bad he doesnt have a shot.
