If you pull up his bio in Total Pro Football, you will see that he has a high "Grudge" rating. One of the teams on his hit list are the Giants, who broke off talks with long-time Slayer client QB Tom Peters after the Giants refused to offer Peters a long term deal.

The Giants have the 5th overall pick in this year's draft and have their sights set on stud linebacker Jamara Hamilton out of Penn State. Guess who his agent is...?

Why post something like this? First, the pretty graphics, second..... some FOFC members are on the beta team, now... posts like these?

I'm really getting into TCY/FOF 2k4 and telling myself I don't need TPF right now, but this kind of immursiveness (is that a word?), is really starting to get to me, so to speak.

Is this game really that immursive? Hehe... I'm afraid of the answer.

The game is pretty in-depth, yes. It even has a "Miami knocks off undefeated teams late in season" code built into it, not to mention the "Miami can't win in December" limiter.

To me, this is the level of feedback, immersiveness and gameplaying that I have always dreamed about. In other games, all we get is "Due to past injustices, client will not sign" or "Player is unwilling to sign for your team". The above longer message says the same thing but at least we now know more about the conditions and reasons instead of being forced to come up with something on our own and can use that as a basis for future decision making.

Making Your Franchise Profitable

The lion's share of your franchise's income will come from revenues earned at the stadium on game days, and each team has eight home games each season (home playoff games earn you even more income). Your goal is deceptively simple: fill up as much of your stadium as you can. And remember, because of maintenance costs, the key to maximizing stadium profits is not total attendance per se, but attendance as a percentage of your stadium's capacity.

A number of factors influence attendance. Factors include:
  • Team Tradition - Storied franchises typically have loyal, dedicated fan bases who will turn out for games, in good times and bad. Franchises with less of a history are less able to rely on die-hard loyalists during "down years."

  • Fan Interest - This represents the current "buzz" surrounding the team. Earlier in the season, it is affected by your power ranking and any significant "new faces" you have on the roster. Later in the season, your winning percentage and division standing play a larger role.

  • Drawing Power of Scheduled Opponent - The tradition and fan interest of your opponent also will have an impact on attendance.

  • Post-season significance / "Key Game" - Home games in the second half of the season which have significant playoff implications and/or will give the home team the opportunity to capture sole possession of the division lead will result in an attendance boost.

  • Weather - Weather conditions defined as "adverse" will generally have a negative impact on gameday turnout. Except in Green Bay .

That sounds pretty good, definitely something that has been missing from text sims. However, one thing to take into account is that a lot of shitty teams IRL still manage to sell out, or come very close to it, every week. For example, the Lions sold out all their games this year and have a waiting list for season tickets, even though they have sucked ass for the last three years. Of course, one big reason for this is likely the new stadium, but another is because Detroit is a big pro football town. It would be nice if it would take something like this into account as well. I would hate to see Arizona-level attendances in a lot of cities where they would naturally be higher, thereby really cutting into revenue streams when IRL it probably would not.

Good point. The Falcons would normally sell at least 50,000 tickets per game (not that many would show up though...) no matter how horrid they were during the Smith family ownership. Lots of corporate-owned season tickets was a big part of that, is my understanding.

Right, and thats exactly how it is for the Lions. In fact, I believe there are only around 1,500 individual game tickets put up for sale for each game. The rest are season ticket holders. Maybe a feature could be added at some point to factor in season ticket holders, a la CM.
