NFL, Take-Two Are Betting Gamers Want More Football - WSJ

Take-Two’s 2K studio said Tuesday its new deal allows it to create games that use league imagery and team names without replicating action from a typical NFL game. An example might be a three-on-three matchup set in a schoolyard only with NFL marks and logos, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Do they have an NFLPA license?

I mean, I could see a market for sandlot football with real players and teams/logos.

But if I'm playing something that isn't quite football and I'm using totally fake players, and the only "real" thing about it is that the Atlanta team is called the Falcons, then I just can't really see the appeal.
