The Pink Floyd Thread - Endless River is now out!

I created a new thread because I felt like I was digging up Richard Wright's corpse every time I posted in the old one

Anyways Endless River has been released although so far it has been getting mixed reviews.

Here's the promo video for it.

I like the sound of it but Gilmour isn't the singer he used to be.

Anyone bought the album yet?

After a quick listen this weekend, it sounds like pretty much what it is - a bunch of half-finished songs. Of course, since David Gilmour is playing guitar on those half-finished songs, it's not terrible.

I know what I'm doing tonight. Listening to Floyd the way it was meant to be heard.

I listened to the first third last night. Sounds like out takes from their classic pre-Wall albums, which isn't a horrible thing.

Abso-fucking-loutely. I did a write up in another thread (probably the "Richard Wright is dead" thread), but to recap I saw them in Charlotte last year.

I've seen Pink Floyd 3 or 4 times and those remain my all-time favorite shows. I'm used to the kind of spectacle they put on. I heard Brit Floyd on TV for a fundraiser and thought they were good enough to go see and take the wife and my teenage (who also likes Floyd) along. But I had misgivings because, after all, this is merely a "tribute" band and meh, how good could one of those be?

After the second or third song, those reservations went away. The stage setup was right out of the Delicate Sounds of Thunder and their performance was spot-on. By the time the first set was ending, I was no longer seeing a tribute band, I was watching Pink Floyd again. It is simply an awesome show.

Interestingly enough, I've never been a huge "Animals" fan. That album never clicked with me. But after seeing their performance of Pigs (Three Different Ones), I gained a massive newfound appreciation of that album.

"Pigs (Three Different Ones)" performed by Brit Floyd - the Pink Floyd tribute show - YouTube

And their rendition of Echoes - a Floyd staple - was probably better than the ones I heard Gilmour & Co. do in concert.

So yeah, go buy those tickets immediately.

Roger Waters has a new album coming out on June 2nd. Judging by the sample tracks it definitely has a "Final Cut" vibe to it.
