There are some financial guys who like to throw that term out in their writings. It's a great way to get me to totally discount whatever you're saying. They usually seem to be gold/precious metals guys.

It was a term with a narrow and useful meaning to describe a very specific form of reality manipulation.

Now, people just use it to make their disagreements with others sound more dramatic.

"Think about it" is usually followed by an incredibly specious argument

"It's common sense" tells me you don't have an argument or any evidence to support your position, and for good measure, you're going to imply I'm an idiot for not just agreeing with you.

Perhaps the origins of the word are just, but the way it's been hijacked and thrown around in today's society is in such an elitist way that it's contradicting with what it's supposed to mean.

Re: minimum wage. When Franklin Roosevelt pushed for the first federal minimum wage law in 1933 he said the following:
