Ryan Williams' stats so far this year, as a true freshman, are pretty crazy.

Yeah, so the story coming out of this is not that it was a blowout, but that it was a classic for the ages between world beaters who will obviously need to meet in the playoffs. Just like happens every year.
(At least now it doesn’t matter as much in the grand scheme, even in a blowout I’d assume both these teams make the top 12. But old habits are hard to break you know?)

That Williams play was incredible. The game ruled. Hope they meet again this season.

Georgia still has to play Texas at Texas. Georgia loses there, then we will be likely seeing a Texas-Bama SEC championship game. Who knows how the playoffs seeds work out from there.

Georgia with it's only losses to Texas and Bama are 100% getting in. It is why they expanded in the first place.

dola: Just to add it is only meaningless if those two games are Georgia's only losses. It also determines home-field in the playoffs and how many games you have to play, which has pretty significant meaning. And if playoff implications are the only things that makes games mean something, then 80% of all college games are meaningless, because they are being played by teams with no playoff chance.

My point being the great thing about college football was that every game mattered. That's really not the case any more.
Hell, the ND loss to NIU might not matter by the end of the season. And that sorta sucks. |

What a great game. Alabama with those incredible catch and runs were devastating. UG with that never quit response was impressive when they could’ve rolled over. Definitely like two prize fighters swinging into the final round for sure.

I know a lot if people are talking about that spin move by Williams but him catching that ball on a dime and being able to redirect his entire body on a cut as he landed is just next level. I can't believe he is 17.

Or, it is great that your team is not eliminated two weeks into a season by one bad game. All a matter of perspective.

I reject the idea that the only games that matter are ones with national title implications. Under that criteria, only a very small percentage of games in college football history have mattered.

Georgia with one loss ranked ahead of Penn State and Oregon with no losses seems about normal.

Such is the system that's been created. And then exacerbated by the playoff expansion. I didn't ask for it, but that's kinda where we.

It's not tenable long-term, but I think that's the point.
Schedules are far too variant - even within conferences now that the Big Ten has 18 schools and the SEC has 16. If there's still a high penalty for any loss, that makes the problem even worse. Last year was a nice ending for the "amateur" era of college sports. I can sit back and watch this happen more casually. Sorry if anyone's interested in TCY2 - I can't even imagine how to make this mess interesting. |

This was certainly one of the most surprising results of the day. OU had true freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins making his first career start, and missing his #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5 wide receivers due to injury. They had to move a DB to wide receiver in practice last week just to have enough bodies to take the field against Auburn. OU's 7th string wide receiver, J.J Hester (who had one career reception in 2022) hauled in a key 60 yard bomb from Hawkins that set up the touchdown that cut Auburn's lead to 5 in the 4th quarter. |

The Aggies are bludgeoning Mizzou to death. There was a couple of bad calls early in that game that seemed to take the air out of the Tigers, and they have just collapsed.

So there is a chance we will see Army-Navy in a conference title game a week before their big game for a chance to go to the playoffs.

It’s fine. Vandy will jump into the top 10 and Bama will fall to just in front of GA with the loss.

Ryan Williams is going to hold every receiving record when he leaves for the NFL to get drafted number 1 overall. If he stays healthy of course.

He might not even be the number 1 wide receiver in that draft. It'll be an interesting choice for whoever is in that position. |
