At least they have downgraded it to just two deaths. A teacher and the shooter. 6 are injured, and a couple of those are reported as serious.

I think the media wanting to go out of the way to not include the shooter in the death count has created a bunch of misunderstandings of what LE is reporting. Is it 3 deaths, including the shooter, 2 deaths plus the shooter, or 2 deaths including the shooter? This happens all the time.

And it's not like this would be something that'd be hard to have a standard for. I'm thinking "X victims, plus the (alleged) shooter" would be a pretty easy one to handle it.

But having a reasonable standard and having it accepted and used would likely be two different things these days.

was just reading about it the meaning of it. He did both...or rather it was based on two diffrent occurrences. One where RL Jeremy shot himself and the other of a guy in school Eddie Vedder knew that shot up a class. I think there are bits of both in the song. Don't know who the person is or why. Don't care if they were disadvantaged growing up, went off meds, had a mental breakdown etc ... some people just deserve to die.

That's a terror act, regardless of who he is, why he did it, or where he's from. That's literally the definition of a terrorist attack. Even if he was mentally ill, that's still an act of terrorism.

Hitting real close to home. Lots of folks I know are down there for the Sugar Bowl. Just heard back from one of my closest long-time friends. He said he walked through that area minutes before the attack and then got back to his hotel and had to evacuate from there. Stood outside for 2 hours. A quick check of FB is showing that most folks I know were already in bed by the time this happened. Scary stuff.

A Cybertruck has exploded in front of Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. It looks to nor hqve done major damage, but it it's burning right in front of the doors to the hotel.

Reportedly born and raised in Texas and an Army vet. CNN now confirming it was an ISIS flag.

Just saw the explosion from another view point. It didn't just catch fire, it did straight up explode. You can then see little secondary explosions all around it, again looking like fireworks.

I'm not blaming them but I heard it was due to measures the NFL requested for the Super Bowl... can confirm their requirements are quite weird, imperious, and often make next to no sense to anyone on the ground level. I have no idea how you prevent a motivated attack like this on large crowds, am quite certain venue security has no way to prevent one outside of pushing people in faster or closing a specific entrance and pushing incoming lines to slightly different places if god forbid one ever happened at a place like BoA in Charlotte at the bowl game tomorrow or any Panthers game, but am quite certain CMPD and Homeland Security were not 100% thrilled with the NFL rep's input on the conference call.

I've always figured it was tied to the American ones going heavy & fast with their paywalls, would be curious to hear an explanation why the DM/Guardian haven't. Not sure if just cultural or there is some legal reason UK based ones haven't followed that path as aggressively.

Not sure on any conversion or lean into that part which the ex-wife's husband implied happened recently, but does at least seem like Jabbar was his birth name. The 10 days in Egypt last year might end up being relevant too.

I've seen the speculation there was an intended anti-Trump/Musk type of message between the vehicle and app used and the chosen hotel. If true thankfully they're complete idiots, Cybertrucks look very ugly and inefficient to me but they seem pretty sturdy and capable of containing explosions compared to any flatbed like the New Orleans guy used. Looks like the truck exploded on the curb next to the hotel and still didn't even shatter the glass windows 10 feet away?
