The dems just need to get a decent percentage to show uo. Trump may be unpopular on the whole but his base still worships him. That said, without him on the ballot, that will be a huge help in 2026

To do that, you need to actually be an opposition party which they aren't. They'll gain seats by default (although maybe not with all the gerrymandering), but could really do damage if they actually tried.

And as expected, here come the farmer bailouts. They voted for these policies and the rest of us have to bail them out.

Ben Carson is the new nutrition czar and said he has the cure for diabetes they won't tell you.

Shock, it's to not eat like shit. No shit, my doctor tells me this each visit. Im not even prediabetic somehow, but it's not a shock when I spent a couple years eating less horribly I lost a shit ton of weight and my sugar and cholesterol were no longer dangerous.

While I agree there's an over-reliance on medication, doctors do it because 99% of the people they treat (me included) don't want to put in the work without meds.

The White House is raising the stakes of a potential government shutdown by drafting a request for federal agencies to prepare “reduction in force” plans in case Congress doesn’t pass a spending bill before Oct. 1.

In a memo from the Office of Management and Budget, obtained by NBC News, the Trump administration indicated it's prepared to go beyond the traditional furloughing of some government employees during shutdowns and fire federal employees.

"With respect to those Federal programs whose funding would lapse and which are otherwise unfunded, such programs are no longer statutorily required to be carried out," the memo says. "RIF notices will be in addition to any furlough notices provided due to the lapse in appropriation."

Why threated to fire employees vs furlough. If I was an employee that supported Trump, I would be a fired employee that would be pissed at Trump.

Oh well, game of chicken still going on.

I don't know who talked trump into giving a bullying rambling speech to the UN. In no way was it a good idea. WHich makes me think it was his idea. BUt really it's obvious he is trying to start a war or two or three. More epstein deflection I guess. But really....that peabrain is so dangerous. I thought it was just to avoid the embarrassing association with Epstein but whatever is in those files have to be really fucking bad. Cancelling upcoming votes, even threatening to delay the swearing in of the new member of Congress. Lying about the birthday card and other associations. There has to be some shit he is absolutely terrified of coming out.

Yeah, I mean that's what I'm wondering. Where do all of these go? Or is it just "well we got our money now, time to bury all the soybeans"? (Probably that.)

But I HAD been wondering -- WHY ISN'T TOFU CHEAPER?? I mean if we have all of this blasted soy, this shit should be damn near like government cheese!

(While I'm here, how is it that restaurants still charge extra for a non-meat burger? Sure fine, the price of beef has gone up and so has the cost of burgers. WHY IS THERE STILL $2 ON TOP OF THAT FOR NON-BEEF, THE PRICE OF WHICH DIDN'T SIMILARLY EXPLODE?!? Fuckers.)

Again, that was the one thing you could say good about Trump was that he seemed to not be interested into getting into foreign entanglements. You can't say that anymore. He is sabre rattling so much it is making the Neo-Cons blush. I do think he has every intention of invading somewhere and using it as an excuse to suspend elections.

I wonder to what extent there are any actual government finances vs it all just being a part of the Trump Organization. In which case we know where the finders fee goes and what it really was.

He was always going to do whatever Israel told him. And the Venezuela stuff isn't too surprising due to their hostility toward Israel and their resources.

The Ukraine flip flop is confusing though. Does he realize his support is in the gutter and is trying to latch on to a guy who is still relatively popular? Is it just about funneling more money to donors? Is it a personal thing after Putin dogwalked him a few weeks ago? Or just anything to get the news off the Epstein stuff?

My conspiracy mind says he criticized Zelensky for not holding elections during a war and decided he would just do the same thing.

Also, evidently the new US attorney in Virginia is going to ask a grand jury to indict James Comey despite prosecutors saying they found no evidence or obstruction or perjury.

My maximalist worry is that this is a precursor to invoking the Insurrection Act and putting the military on the streets throughout the country. Miller and Patel are so thirsty for the Insurrection Act that I can see them using Antifa as the justification.

That something is the guy who leaked info on Trump and Clinton who said Comey told him to leak it. McCabe lied about that just like he lied about any number of verifiable facts. But it doesn’t really matter that McCabe is a proven liar. They will convict Comey on something. Then they will move on to the next guy.

Some more insight ...

Why government shutdown odds are spiking: Both parties see some upside
Quote:
The growing sense in Washington is that the latest government funding fight between Republicans and Democrats is shaping up differently.

And why things may be more likely to end in a shutdown is simple: Not only are both parties OK with a funding stoppage, but some partisans even view the idea of going through with it as an opportunity or political necessity.
Quote:
That hard-line stance from Trump — which is being echoed across his party — comes as Democrats appear caught between having no audience for their demands and a base of voters who view capitulating to Republicans as the worst possible outcome.
Quote:
Party leaders are also answerable to a Democratic base that appears to be fine with a shutdown — especially if the only alternative is seen as "bending the knee" to Trump.
Quote:
A recent survey from the progressive firm Data for Progress found that seven out of 10 Democrats support the idea of their party leaders voting for a shutdown unless Republicans make concessions.

Basically, not looking good.

Maybe this will help:

A look at the Trump-Comey relationship and the indictment against the former FBI director | AP News

But its the same thing with Trump-anybody who is investigating/reporting/just doing their jobs is a threat to him-see what happened to his "fixer" Michael Cohen after he turned on him and testified. And he uses the full power of the government and now the Supreme Court to get back at any who tries to take him down.

Dola,

So the argument is that Trump's FBI director ordered FBI agents to infiltrate the J6 protests to incite a riot. And it was in coordination with the Democrats. But they tricked right wing groups into planning it. And they tricked MAGA protestors to riot. Except it was all ANTIFA in the crowd that rioted. But it wasn't a riot because they were let in.

Did I miss any of the hoops while I was jumping through them?
