Although I will say, Indiana is getting away with pretty blatant holds on nearly every dropback.

Indiana, Duke and Texas Tech are conference champs. Vandy was arguably a loss to Alabama away from playing for the SEC title.

I don't like how it's currently set up, but I don't think it's a coincidence this is happening once players could start getting paid.

So, it looks like James Madison University will be four games away from winning the national championship, unless the committee decides "Fuck those Group of 4 leagues" and puts Duke in the rankings over JMU, as JMU will be the fifth highest ranking conference champion.

Yep. NSDU can't really point fingers except at themselves. Gave up the td and 2 pt with 1 min to play.

Thr final drive had to be lead by the backup qb though as our students sr had been hurt on the sack fumble that lead to it. We have a total stud kicker. They only needed to get into range but I think he only got us about 20 before we turned on downs. Very tough to watch, especially at home. When you dont lose in the regular season sometimes you believe in your own invincibility.

Lost amidst the playoff stuff is the rather odd sight of Zach Arnett being hired as the DC at Mississippi State. That's going to be ... interesting.

I may need to have Wendy's for lunch today.

If they win the National Championship, Curt Cignetti might just be the best college coach of this era. Heck, he might be even if they don't.

Yeah, I think that happens sometimes when you beat your rivals too

Congrats to Kodos and other IU fans. That was a super weird game, but Cignetti is an absolute witch of a coach. That has to be the most amazing 2 year turnaround ever.

I mean, I've done it back when I did a Top 25 every week for about a decade, so I can't say that it's an entirely foreign concept to me.

I think every college coach, no matter how successful, can be replaced. There's another Ryan Day or Kirby Smart or Nick Saban.

But I'm not sure there's any way to replace Cignetti at Indiana. He could leave and be successful at other places, but he's lightning in a bottle for IU. He's worth whatever they have to pay for the rest of his career.

ND was AHEAD of Bama and then Bama:
--Struggled with 5-7
--Got blown out by 3 TDs

And let’s face it - Alabama played 12 games and FCS Eastern Illinois on the SEC’s yearly Chicken Shit Saturday.

Everyone of you had more rushing yards than Alabama did yesterday.

And it’s funny how much ESPN has ignored their ass whooping by FSU

I personally would have dropped OSU to 3 and put ND/Miami 9/10 but it’s whatever when you are sorting fringe top 10 teams.

The committee probably HATES that they have to go out weekly on ESPN and spin a tale and can't just say "We start from scratch each week. Sorry it's not some deep meaning." They'd love to have March Madness sole top 16 ranking with a month left and radio silence until Selection Sunday.

You could almost certainly remove the word "probably" from that.

From football irrelevance department: Va Tech gets to save on a DC salary I guess, they were gonna be paying Brent Pry regardless.

As seen online

Notre Dame just got punished for a three-point road loss to No. 10 Miami on August 31, while Alabama lost by 14 to a 5–7 Florida State team at the same time. SEC/Bama bias in a nutshell.

And every single conference championship loser moved down a spot, except Bama.

Good thing it was such a close ga-oh thats right. They got curb stomped.

Iowa State, K-State skip bowl games; fined $500K by Big 12 - ESPN

NCAA needs to change the rules regarding declining bowl games if they are going to allow players to basically be free agents. Hard to faut a school losing a ton of players for not wanting, or even being able to, field a competitive team because of a coaching change.

Bama also owns a win over a clear-cut playoff team.

BYU 0-2 vs those
Notre Dame 0-1 vs clear cut, 0-2 vs actual field
Miami 0-0 vs clear cut but has the head to head win over another candidate

The committee clearly went in the direction of "highest ceiling" instead of "lowest floor"

Would probably require a change in the bowl-tie contracts, otherwise you're putting all of the members on the hook for a decision by one of them. The official statement seems to strongly hint at that

Quote:
"While the Conference acknowledges the difficult timing around coaching changes, the Big 12 is responsible for fulfilling its contractual obligations to its bowl partners,"

Yeah, but Alabama's only losses are to teams that beat Alabama. And Alabama is the only playoff team to beat a team that beat Alabama. So if you think about it, Alabama is maybe ranked too low.
