I just cook the spaghetti and sauce in my house. She wants to toss some store bought jar in a pot and I just can’t do that. I do supper about 3 nights a week and if we have spaghetti that week it’s one of those nights.

You are 1000% correct. Any pasta noodle needs room to move as it cooks. Otherwise, it sticks to the pan or the noodles stick together. You really shouldn't need to stir spaghetti more than once or twice just to make sure everything is separated and able to move. It's spaghetti, not top ramen. |

Lathum's new arrangement sounds like re-living the Covid months all over again, lol.

They're essentially remaling Mr. Mom with Nate Bargatze. I kinda thought we had gotten past the whole "husband doing chores... why I oughta..." phase of America, but I guess Trad Wives will bring it back eventually. Also, his name in the movie is Nate. I wonder if he's one of those comedian/actors who can only act if the character has the same name. Like they start doing scenes and when the other actors use the character's original name they just stand there with a blank expression, so eventually the director just changes the character's name to the actor's name. |

I have been fascinated by how he has suddenly become big. I mean, I've listened to his stand-up for years, basically "I'm a dumb southern guy and my wife knows everything" schtick. Funny enough, but all of a sudden the dude is everywhere - hosting game shows, award shows, in ads, now this movie. Who decided he was the next comedian-turned-box office draw? It doesn't feel organic, that's for sure. I swear he went from mostly anonymous to everywhere overnight.

My new favorite conspiracy theory is that school photos were taken largely by 2 companies throughout our lives and they can sell all that data to companies or the government for facial recognition. The data can also be used to create more accurate future facial reconstruction photos.

Does a joke become a dad joke if I tell it to my family?
My daughter complained she has a 98.6 in Chemistry instead of it being rounded to 99. So I said, at least her teacher didn't grade her in Celsius. My daughter said stop with the dad jokes. I feel like it's a joke that happened to be told by a dad. Like if I told a Holocaust joke, I don't think she'd classify it as a dad joke. |

Yeah, I went one night it was like everyone was an NPC in the most annoying video game, just standing completely oblivious in the middle of aisles. I was trying to get some pasta and there were two people with carts standing back to back like they were ups trucks parked over night.

I tell you what really drives me nuts is the people that just can't walk in a straight line. They will walk super slowly while zig zagging so you can't possibly pass them. Between that and the people that enter the store and just stand blocking the door just drive me batty.

Raising Cane's opened a resturant close by our house and I had my first meal there a couple of days ago. Why are people lining up and giving that place the Chick-fil-A treatment. Saying I am not a fan would be putting it very mildly. The best thing about the food was the sauce. Oh and the advice that someone gave me to request butter on both sides of the bread probably made that better. The sauce is tasty but even a French Dipped sandwich is edible and eatable without having to dip it in the beef broth. The Raising Cane's chicken tender taste like bad fufu.

All of these places. We got a Bojangles recently and there were lines out the door for rather expensive, really pedestrian chicken. Now the county is getting a *second* one. They're tearing down the Applebee's (no great loss) and putting a Raising Cane's there. We also now have two Popeye's, two/three CFA, a couple of Hangry Joe's, a billion Royal Farms, like eight Roy Rogers (I know, not really a chicken place and yes -- Roy's is a thing here still), never mind all of the local, wings, Jerk, or Peruvian places. Like, wtf do we need more chicken for?

We have a semi-local chain called Sardi's which has good Peruvian-style chicken, and Crisp & Juicy is pretty good as well. But I can buy a rotisserie chicken from Food Lion for like $6 if I want healthier chicken. If I need sides, I can pretty easily do them myself.
(We don't actually get chicken often; one kid is veggie, wife isn't keen on meat that still resembles the animal. So it was just me and my older kid who would eat it, and with both kids out of the house now I would just be buying it for me. So I don't buy it often.)

I have not had Bojangles in decades even though they also opened one of those in the area. For me, Bojangles was a biscuit breakfast sandwich restaurant that also sold fried chicken if you did not have a Popeye's close by or you did not want to take all the risks associated with eating Church's. I just looked through the Bojangles' menu. Besides vomiting a little bit at all the "Bo's" references, I noticed that they don't actually sell bone in chicken at all and everything else seems similar to the Chick-fil-A menu. I have zero interest in confirming that "Bo's" is not anything close to Chick-fil-A.

Bojangles is all about the biscuits. The chicken is fine, and so are the sides. "Borounds" are cravable as well. Basically butter milk infused hash browns, they are so good.

We got a Bojangles here locally and it shut down after a few years. Now a Chipotle.
We ate there once. Not a fan. Nothing special about it at all. I don't recall anything about the biscuits.

The bread IS the best thing about Cane's, no question. Then the sweet tea. Then the fries IF they're fresh (and for the first 3-5 minutes) Then their honey mustard (I don't like their house sauce at ALL) And then their chicken. Although it's still above average for the category to me, one of the more enjoyable tenders from a tender joint. I've never had them burn 'em, unlike Zaxbys.

They just announced one here. I've had it twice and it was like ithe worst of Zaxby's. No flavor on the chicken or fries, no butter on the bread.

WE just had one open here right across the street from Dave's Hot Chicken. I haven't had either because I don't really care for chicken tenders.

We love Cane's. I haven't been to a Zaxby's in over 5 years. The main reason is that the chicken is cooked with light breading and tender. Zaxby's is way too heavy and cooked too long. I also love their house sauce - nice and garlicky with some bite. We visit my family in Asheville a few times a year, and they have a place called Huey Magoo's which is pretty good too. And here in Lexington a new place called Jagger's recently opened. It's owned by the Texas Roadhouse people. We thought it was good, been there once. It's hard to believe we as a society can prop up this many chicken tenders places, lol. Although some like Jagger's and Zaxby's expand a bit beyond tenders, while others like Cane's are just that. But still - this country seems to subsist almost solely on pizza and fried chicken.

We also have a Huey Magoo's. Hot wings used to be the way over optioned category, especially around here because Atlanta seems to be a hot wing capital. Now it is tenders. Every restaurant has them, and several only specialize in them. My wife like tenders, but her favorite is none of them but is a local catfish restaurant.
Btw, we are getting a Texas Roadhouse, and I am very excited about it. |

At Cane's? That's weird -- or a mistake -- cause it's known for being brushed with garlic butter before its grilled.

Either you've got a weird one OR you didn't go down the menu far enough. The bone-in stuff is under "combos", "dinners" or "family meals", legs/thighs/breasts all still available. I almost exclusive get breakfast biscuits there, not a big fan of their breading on their chicken, but its still their main product here. Sundays around lunch (or 2 hours before lunch) are about as batshit crazy as any place I've seen in Athens. Routinely folks lined up all the way out the door waiting to get 10/20/30 piece orders, 30-45 min lines and people just seem to take that as "normal" (not ME, I only made that mistake on a Sunday a couple times) It's about the only day of the week ours does much business. Hell, you never know when the one closest to me will even be open otherwise.
