Suggestions for a freeware game to play at work
I'm looking for something easy on graphics.. ie mostly text-based.
I love simulations.. sports specifically. I prefer campaigns or career type games. I've done drug wars.. too simple. I've done TCY.. can't put enough thought into it. I've done Eastside Hockey.. which used to eat my machine up.. but also required too much thought. Any ideas out there? Any cool little Text Based Sims? Thad |

Tech phone support.. lots of rebooting, installing etc.. too much downtime.
But let me rephrase.. since the work part is not relevant. I'm looking for a moderately difficult text-based freeware game. I prefer sports and/or career/campaign type sims. Any suggestions? |

Nah, it ain't freeware.
You have to buy it, but it's well worth it. Great game. Don't think it really fits under what Thad is looking for, I'm guessing by little to no graphics he means he wants something that won't be blatantly obvious that he's playing a game. So while KoDP isn't graphics intensive, the artwork would make it pretty obvious. |

King of Dragon Pass is a great game but it's certainly not freeware.

Dungeoncrawl is ADOM-lite. Very lite.

Why worry about the graphics? If your boss gets mad, just beat him up.

Plenty o' ways: alraunia antidote herbs, potions of cure poison, potions of extra/ultra healing might as well, and of course time. Additionally, eating a spider/tarantula/giant centipede corpse will poison you, but also grant you poison resistance, causing poison to wear off much faster from then on. All ADOM questions can be answered at the grandaddy of spoiler sites: hxxp://www.andywlms.com/adom/ |

The oft-pimped Home of the Underdogs has a ton of excellent abandonware text games.
Might I recommend one of my favorite time-wasters, rockstar: hxxp://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=2041 (works best with a program like mo-slow to compensate for the speed of modern day processors) |
