Colts! Colts! Colts! (I would love to see him back with Dungy).
But enough about the Colts. I am sad, today. Lynch is my all-time favorite Buccaneer. 11 years. From his rookie campaign as a SS/LB in a terrible 4-1-5 scheme to a great all around player on and off the field. Why do the long time vets have to go? They should be allowed to give vets that spend 8+ years with the same team any salary they want with only a minimum for 8 year vets counting against the cap. Continuity Rocks!!! Movements don't!!! (....or, um...something like that...) |

I wish the Lions would sign him. Then I wouldn't have to listen to anymore of this "Draft Sean Taylor" nonsense.

does it really matter who the lions draft? There's no way they'll ever have a good draft..I mean, when you pass on Randy Moss and Daunte Culpepper for Terry Fair and Chris Claiborne(who you don't even have anymore).. it doesnt speak well for the franchise

No, it was official late Tuesday night. "TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Five-time Pro Bowl safety John Lynch was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday night. The veteran of 11 seasons was told last week he did not fit into Tampa Bay's plans next season. He has drawn interest from several teams, and the Bucs indicated they would explore a trade once Lynch decided where he wanted to continue his career. Releasing Lynch freed more than $4 million under the NFL salary cap. The 32-year-old safety was scheduled to earn $4.1 million in 2004 and $5 million in 2005. Lynch, 32, visited Denver on Tuesday and is expected to talk with the Patriots, Jets and Colts. Last week, new Bucs general manager Bruce Allen turned down Lynch's request to restructure a contract that would have paid him $4.1 million in 2004 and $5 million in 2005. Lynch said the Bucs never made him an offer and that Allen made it clear ``it wasn't an option to be back in Tampa.'' Allen paid tribute to Lynch at the time, while making it clear the strong safety wouldn't be back. ``Everyone respects who he is and what he's brought to the game of football. But at this time we're going to move forward,'' Allen said. ``We decided the best way to move forward is allow him to talk to other teams and find a home that would be best for him and his family.'' |

The Jets are the current frontrunners. NE is probably in this only to drive the price up...
