TCY - Let's Go Duke! Let's Go Duke! (Year 4)
Welcome to year 4 of my Duke Blue Devils TCY Dynasty. You can read the dominance that was....year 1-3 below.
Year 1 (2-10) Year 2 (2-9) Year 3 (3-8) Email Time WR Terry Minkel leaves team due to a lack of playing time. Well Terry...you just weren't that good. Great Lakes Scout Cedric Bowie has retired. Ced...we barely knew ya. Defensive Coordinator Edward Curtis has retired. I actually give some props for the job he did last year. Hirings Defensive Coordinator: Glenn Bennink (50) - Glenn is nothing special but he was the best out there. His strong point is Injury Avoidance...which I find to be one of the most important qualities with either of your coordinators. Great Lakes Scout: Rick Scribner (34) - Rick is your run-of-the-mill scout but he's young and hopefully will improve. Scheduling Code:

Great potential Hickman - Has lead the team in tackles the last two seasons. Markham - Decent run stopper who had 65 tackles last year. Meadows - Needs to be more effective on the weak side...only 1 sack last year. Howe - Not the most talented player...will have to provide Sr leadership. Week 2
Duke (0-0) at New Mexico State (0-0) (-1) No TV Last season: 24-7 Dukies Key Injuries - None Preview - If a Duke team is able to dominate a game it was the one against the Aggies last season. We outgained them 445-217 and more importantly won the game 24-7. ILB Hunter Hickman was the game MVP as he had 2 sacks to go along with his 6 tackles. Code:

Week 3
Sitka (1-1) at #46 Duke (1-0) (-9) No TV Last season: 38-0 Dukies. We shut someone out? Key Injuries - None Preview - We were only up 17-0 at the end of three last year...then scored 21 points in the 4th to close it out. I'm a little bitter after the Timberwolves loss right now...so that's all I got for the preview. Code:

Week 4
Northwestern (1-1) at #46 Duke (2-0) (-9) No TV Last season: Duke 24-21 Key Injuries WR Vincent Duncan - Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Out 5 weeks Preview - We had to battle hard up in Evanston last year...scoring with 6 mins left in the game to pull out a 24-21 victory. The Wildcats were actually up 21-10 after three quarters before we finally woke up. This year...their primary O continues to be the I-Form and their offense is centered around Jr RB Lamar Newman. This three year starter has 380 yards rushing in two games so far this year...a 7.4 avg. They've been able to put up some points this year..31.0 ppg...so our D will have to step up...which they have done so far this year. On our side of the ball...Duncan being out is a bit of a blow...he'll be missed as we start the conference schedule. Code:

Week 5
Duke (2-1) at #23 Virginia (2-0) (-6) TV5 Last season: 38-6 the pesky Cavs Key Injuries WR Vincent Duncan - Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Out 4 weeks Preview - Virginia has really had my number the first three seasons...well all ACC teams have had my number...but my games with the Cavs have never been close. Last year they jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and cruised to a 32 point victory. We were able to stop their running game last year but they proceeded to pass for 234 yards. Let's go to Charlottesville. Code:

Week 6
Duke (2-2) at #50 Maryland (2-1) (-2) No TV Last season: Loss at home 17-7 Key Injuries WR Vincent Duncan - Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Out 4 weeks Preview - In last year's game we were in it...we just didn't quite have enough offense to stay with Maryland. But we held them to 17 points so that has to count for something. This year they've struggled barely beating W Virginia 7-3 and then getting shutout against NC State. So far their run intensive offense is only 95th in the nation. On our side of the ball...our passing game is clicking like never before. We ranked 7th in completions and attempts and 10th in passing yards with 1121. Code:
Next up - The Noles come up to Durham. Recruiting - On the flip side...we've had no one commit this year and have lost three recruits already. |

#3 Florida State (4-0) (-13) at Duke (3-2) TV4 Last season: Seminoles all over us 63-10 Key Injuries WR Vincent Duncan - Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Out 3 weeks Preview - Florida St is just too awesome. Their roster is stacked and we still have a ways to go to get up to their level. I think we're just gonna enjoy our time on TV4 this week. Our first appearance. There are two other reasons we're not gonna do well in this game. 1) We've been partying all week and are a little hungover. 2) We're looking forward to the following week when Wake Forest comes to town. We have a little score to settle. Code:

Week 8
Wake Forest (0-5) at Duke (3-3) (-19) No TV Last Season: All Wake Forest 79-0. Key Injuries WR Vincent Duncan - Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Doubtful 2 weeks Preview - Well well well...look who's limping into town this week...an 0-5 Wake Forest squad. It doesn't look anything like the team that beat us up 79-0 last year. The same team that was the #1 passing team in the nation last year. The same team that passed for 531 yards and 8 TD's and put up a total of 668 yards. We want to kill them..plain and simple. Code:

Week 10
#38 Georgia Tech (4-3) at Duke (4-3) (-10) Last season: Georgia Tech 56-17 Key Injuries DT Tommie Woodard - Sprained Knee - Questionable 2 weeks WR Vincent Duncan - Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Probable 1 weeks ILB Hunter Hickman - Broken Hand - Probable 7 weeks Preview - I'm a little confused as to how I should look at this game. On one hand I'm surprisingly a 10 pt favorite. On the other...Georgia Tech...despite having the same record as us has been much more effective against like opponents. But I'm at home...so anything can happen and this is somewhat of a breakout season so who knows? On the injury front...it looks like Duncan will be back in the lineup this week and Hickman said he'll suck it up despite having a broken hand. For G-Tech their starting RB Kerry Stryzinski will not be playing because of a dislocated elbow. Despite having a trips offense he is the most talented player they have. Code:

Week 11
Duke (4-4) at #14 North Carolina State (7-1) (-19) TV5 Last season: NC State 24-14 Key Injuries DT Tommie Woodard - Sprained Knee - Probable 1 weeks ILB Hunter Hickman - Broken Hand - Probable 6 weeks Preview - Last season NC State was the first conference foe that we actually had a chance to beat. We were up 14-10 with a little over a minute left before the Wolfpack scored on a TD pass with 1:15 left in the game and then intercepted a pass and took it for a TD on the next play from scrimmage. This year NC State seems to be a little bit better as they are ranked #14 with only one loss that came to the Noles. They defense is ranked 6th in the nation in points allowed. Code:

Week 12
North Carolina (5-5) (-1) at Duke (4-5) Last season: UNC 28-24 Key Injuries DE Mark Strand - Degenerative Hip Condition - Out 45 weeks ILB Hunter Hickman - Broken Hand - Probable 5 weeks Preview - Before I get to last year's heartbreak...the loss of Mark Strand for the rest of the year and the beginning of the next is a big blow. Hopefully this injury won't hamper his growth the rest of his college career or force him to quit. Back to last year...UNC really stole one from us as they scored a TD with 1:01 left in the game to win 28-24. UNC's ground attack has been nothing too spectacular this year. They are 9th in the nation in carries but only 105th in ypc. They're big-time WR Hergett has been injured for most of the season and that has really hampered them. They're D has really struggled this season as they are 108th in rushing yards and 120th in passing yards allowed. Code:

Week 13
Duke (5-5) (-8) at Clemson (0-9) No TV Last season: Clemson 23-13 Key Injuries DE Mark Strand - Degenerative Hip Condition - Out 44 weeks ILB Hunter Hickman - Broken Hand - Probable 4 weeks TE Myron McGarrahan - Bruised Sternum - Probable 3 weeks Preview - Well Clemson comes into this game having their worst season since this career began. But even though they are 0-9...7 of their losses have been by single digits. So we can't take them likely especially since we're on the road. The T-Formation has been run into the ground by the Tigers as they are 100th in rushing yards and 122nd in passing yards. One guy we have to watch out for on the Tiger defense is Sr ILB Roy Cone. Roy's got 100 tackles (27 TFL) on the season...that's 42 more than the 2nd place guy. Code:
