Tropico 2: Pirate's Cove Demo is Out
Don't know if anyone else is as excited about the possibilities of this game as I am, but just wanted to offer a heads-up. Here's the website (you can access the demo link from there):

Thanks for the heads up.
I loved the original and the add-on. Although it is humorous, Tropico is the closest thing to a political sim that I have played. |

Yum yum
Thanks for letting us know.
This game has always been on my radar screen. It's designed by Frog City, who made both Imperialism games. I enjoyed Tropico, enjoyed both Imperialism games, and enjoy most pirate games. This could be really, really good. |

I have purposely kept this out of my mind. In all my years of gaming, no game held an obsession for me like P!G, even compared to Civ2. That was 10 years ago and I got started in online forums solely because of pirate games. But since P!G, I have not liked any other pirate games, including Sea Dogs, Cutthroats and something else I can't think of. You know I absolutely love Imp2 and Frog City but I never got into Tropico because of the uninteresting theme. So I'd be curious as to seeing what you and others think about PCove. |

It looks like it might be right up your ally, Anrh. After checking the website, it looks less like the political sim of Tropico and more like a Sim Pirate-type of game. Looks very cool.

But that would mean I have to be Buccaneer again - I definitely do not want to do that.

Maybe just until you get up to 5000 posts?

I played the original Pirates! for the Commodore 64 for hours and hours and hours on end. It is, I would imagine, the game I have logged the most hours on EVER. I could never get into Pirates! Gold the same way, though I do acknowledge that it was a slightly better game. I liked Cutthroats and played it for awhile. Though Colonization and High Seas Trader aren't strictly pirate games, they are from the same era and I enjoyed them too. I'll have to download the demo and give it a test drive and try to let you know what I think. |

Am I the only one having a problem getting this demo to work? It exits to the desktop when it goes through the water to the title screen.

I got it to work and played around with it for a few minutes. It's amusing, but I'm not sure there's enough "game" to keep it entertaining. The graphics look dated as well.
