Poker Rant
Don't you just hate when you play with someone at a single table tourney and they think they are very good, but in actuality they are really bad and easy to read. I just finished a single table tournament over at Paradise Poker and I went heads up down: Seat 4: patchrock (8,330.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (1,670.00 in chips) This guy had been saved twice on lucky river draws earlier and should have finished in 8th or 9th. Sb=100 Bb=200 1st hand I'm dealt {Ac,8d}. I raise to 400, he calls Flop comes [ Th 5d 6d ]. I bet and he calls. Turn comes [ 7c ]. I bet and he raises me all-in. I fold. At this point it is now: Seat 4: patchrock (9,130.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (870.00 in chips) 2nd hand I'm dealt bullets and go all-in and double up. Few hands later it is: Seat 4: patchrock (8,260.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (1,740.00 in chips) 5th hand I'm dealt [Kd,7d]. He raises to 400 and I call. Flop comes [ 5d 9c Ad ]. He bets 200 and I just call. Turn comes [Ah]. He goes all in. I figure he is bluffing like he has the rest of the game and call with the nut-flush draw. River comes [ Ks ]. He turns over [3s,2s]. I win. That hand made it: Seat 4: patchrock (6,520.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (3,480.00 in chips) And I continue to make my comeback against this chump. 12th hand Sb=150 Bb=300 Seat 4: patchrock (7,320.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (2,680.00 in chips) I'm dealt [Js,Qd]. I limp in and he checks. Flop comes [ 9h Ad Jc ]. He checks to me and I bet 300 and he calls. Turn comes [ Kc ]. He bets 300. At this point I think he might have K-high or a low-pair. I call with the st8 draw. River comes [ Qh ]. He bets 300. I figure if he had the st8 he would have bet strong, so I raise with my 2 pair up to 600 to see what he'll do. He raises me back and I decide to go all-in. I turn over my 2 pair and he only has [ 8d 9c ]. I've now worked myself to the chip lead: Seat 4: patchrock (4,640.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (5,360.00 in chips) 15th hand starts out: Seat 4: patchrock (5,090.00 in chips) Seat 5: kingfc22 (4,910.00 in chips) I'm dealt [Js,Jd]. YES!!! He raises to 600 and I go all-in figuring I have him beat because the guy can't play. He calls. He turns over [6d,6h] I've knocked this guy around and this will make my comeback complete. But wait: Flop comes [ 5h Tc 6c ]. Son of a bitch. This fool is going to get lucky again. Turn comes [ 7h ] River comes [ 8c ] Damn. Just had to vent. I hate it when you outplay someone to make up a 10 to 1 chip differential, just to lose it on a bad beat.

Awful. Bad beats are by far the worst part of poker (but a part of the game nonetheless). Venting=good

Played my first tournament with over 20 particpants.
Made it to the final two and lost it on this hand My draw: As, Ah So I'm feeling great OFCOURSE! Flop: K,K,K 4th: Ad So I go all-in knowing the only way I can lose is if he has two diamonds and draws another on the 5th OR has the King Him: Kc, 7c 5th street with a dud Oh well $200 for my $50 investment was still cool

Thay'd better be pretty good diamonds... like Broadway types, with a one-outer there. Only a royal flush could beat your boat here, short of the obvious fourth king. |
