So THAT's why I Never Liked Owens...
He admitted that he doesn't even like football to the SNF opening. Seriously, who wants a player that doesn't even like the game on their team? Is that supposed to endear him to fans, teammates, or coaches?

Why ? Lots of people dont like their jobs- and that's what football is to him. Who gives a shit about would-be fans ?

So he does not like what he is doing for a living but still performs at a high level because it pays him millions? If you ask Philly fans right now, I am not sure they will give him up. At least he is honest |

You know what, I should have predicted the "at least he's honest" response. If he were asked, point blank, "Do you like football?" then you could give that response. But there are times for discretion and tact, and volunteering that you do not like your job is not one of those. Think of all the respective employers who heard that. Coworkers, your bosses, and your clients. -Anxiety

I can understand that. And as for Owens, plenty of people hate their jobs, but work for a paycheck.

I didn't see Owens' comments, so I don't know the context, but so what if he doesn't like football? He doesn't have to. I would imagine that most Philadelphia fans couldn't really care less whether he likes football or not. He's a big reason that they're winning right now. That's about all that matters. As long as he does his job and doesn't disrespect the staff (like that tantrum with the offensive coordinator in San Francisco), I would think that the team doesn't really care if he likes the sport or not either. Sure, the "love of the game" makes for a great story, but ultimately, is it really a requirement?

Ricky Williams didn't like football. He abandoned his team just before training camp.
Terrell Owens doesn't like football. His team is (EDIT: On the way to being...) 12-1, the favorite to win the Super Bowl, and he is principly responsible for it. Last edited by Logan : 12-12-2004 at 11:14 PM. |

Dola...
I thought this thread was going to have something to do with him drilling a cheerleader on a cheap shot by (the amazing) Sean Taylor. |

As a Philly fan, I don't care one bit if Terrell likes football. As long as he continues to perform at a high level for whatever motivation he has, that is fine with me. Now, if he quits right before training camp, that would bother me. However, I don't see him doing that for 3 reasons:
1) He loves the publicity that playing Football brings him (unlike Ricky.) 2) He loves the money (I've always felt Ricky doesn't really care about money) 3) He likes winning and being viewed as "the guy" that helps his team win. As long as he continues to perform at a high level, I think most Eagles fans will continue to love Terrell Owens. |

I liked TO until he left the Niners, now without the Red and Gold glasses I can see how much of an ass he is.

Although I appreciate his hard work and talent, I wouldn't want this guy on my time if the team is going on rough times. Sure everything is rosy now, but if they fail to make it deep in the playoffs, you can be sure he will be pointing fingers. I lost all respect for him after his comments about Jeff Garcia. Uncalled for and just plain disrespectful.
