Ole Miss to hire African-American head coach
Sources are reporting that Miami DC Randy Shannon will be the next head coach at Ole Miss.
I never, in my wildest dreams, would have seen them hiring an African- America.

So the state of Mississippi is nothing but black coaches now... should make recruiting interesting, which is the main reason I see them doing this... not that I'm cynical.

No, Southern Miss is headed by Jeff Bower. They would also kick either Ole Miss or MSU's ass.
It's really funny, just because MSU and Ole Miss consider themselves to be "above" Southern Miss, they never consider Jeff Bower for any of their HC openings. |

That is pretty wild. But I guess it keeps them in the news and maybe they think it'll help them with recruiting because it makes them seem progressive.

They should have gone after a black head coach. The NAACP & the Black Coaches Ass. are sure to question why they went out and hired a guy with a great resume who is an African-American when there are many successful black cantidates out there worthy of such a position...

Mississippi as a state has the highest percentage of african-americans in the country. They were, and i believe still are, the only state that is majority african-american. Such a hire makes sense to me. (Oh and this isn't aimed at BigJohn, for the sake of being semi-serious I am assuming black and african-american mean the same to Mississippi census takers )
