Week 9 Recap

The top ranked Garden Dwarves (7-1) clearly had an off day as they got thrashed by the Alf eat Cats (4-4) with a 125.96-67.76 score. Specifically Jake Delhomme's best game of the week helped the Cats to a weekly high score.

Second ranked An Oriant Stars (7-1) prevailed in an important matchup with the Rurhpott Miners (6-2) as the Seahawks duo Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander made up for the bad games of all other players. With a 96.40-71.94 score, the Stars keep moving up in the rankings.

The Maassluis Anglers (6-2) are dropping fast. In a matchup against the Ayr Raiders (3-5), the Anglers disappointed with Donovan McNabb at quarterback, while Ben Roethlisberger was sitting on the bench. Michael Vick contributed with 0 points on his bye week, yet it didn't avoid the Raiders' 72.26-70.76 victory.

The Elven Knights (5-3) needed a win to keep in pace for the playoff tickets, yet the Gothenburg Goblins (4-4) have the same plans. With the Goblins players all failing big time, except Jake Plummer, the Knights walked away victorious 93.56-62.16.

The Camargue Gardians (2-6) have been unlucky in several weeks, but against the Glasgow Kilties (1-7) they returned the favor to the 2003 EFFL champions. With a wild running Michael Pittman, the Gardians won 113.00-97.86 to have very slim chances on a playoff ticket going.

In another matchup between lowly ranked teams, the Oslo Snowmonster (2-6) saw Peyton Manning carry the load as Jake Griffith was having a bye week. Despite a lot of scoring players, the Paris BrockSheriffs (1-7) can say the post-season goodbye after losing 84.02-81.12.

Standings
8-1 84.45 An Oriant Stars
7-2 100.38 Garden Dwarves
6-3 95.16 Rurhpott Miners
6-3 90.68 Maassluis Anglers
6-3 89.85 Elven Knights
5-4 100.75 Alf eat Cats
4-5 74.15 Gothenburg Goblins
4-5 73.13 Ayr Raiders
3-6 83.32 Camargue Gardians
3-6 67.08 Oslo Snowmonsters
1-8 77.52 Glasgow Kilties
1-8 71.19 Paris BrockSheriffs

Week 10 schedule
Another round of games, this week we're having a huge matchup. As usual we're starting with the less interesting games.

Gothenburg (8th, 4-5, #9) vs Glasgow (11th, 1-8, #8)
For the Kilties, it's win or be out of the race as the current playoffs cut is located at 6 wins. At least three teams will be 7-7 or better, so their best option (6-8) is unlikely enough to be in the final four. The Goblins are still in the hunt, being 2 games back. It will require a winning streak, yet the Giants have lost their last two. MIJ tip: Glasgow wins.

Alf (6th, 5-4, #1) vs Paris (12th, 1-8, #11)
In the mismatch of the week, the Alf eat Cats need to keep winning to show their top scoring team belongs amongst the final four. Riding a six-game losing streak, Paris is unlikely to remain in the playoffs hunt after this weekend. MIJ tip: Alf wins big in this French rivalry.

Elven (5th, 6-3, #5) vs Ayr (7th, 4-5, #10)
After last weekend's unexpected win, the Raiders amazingly keep in pursuit behind te real playoff contenders. The Elven Knights are a consistent team and after winning their last two games are making a case for being candidates to reeach a final four spot. MIJ tip: Elven wins big.

Maassluis (4th, 6-3, #4) vs Oslo (10th, 3-6, #12)
The Anglers are dropping fast, but the return of Jamal Lewis might come in time to turn the tide. The Snowmonsters, despite being the worst scoring team, still can dream about making the final four. MIJ tip: Maassluis bounces back with a decent win.

Rurhpott (3rd, 6-3, #3) vs Camargue (9th, 3-6, #7)
The Gardians have been unlucky, while the Miners have been very consistent. Camargue needs to win this one to remain in the hunt for the playoffs, but the Miners can't afford losing two straight if they want to defend their third place. MIJ tip: Camargue in an upset win.

Game of the Week
An Oriant (1st, 8-1, #6) vs Garden (2nd, 7-2, #2)
No discussion possible, this is the game of the week, if not the game of the year already. The Stars keep winning, despite having only the sixth best scoring team. Memory goes back to 2003 when the Stars had a similair start to 6-1 and finally dropped back. But, we also know how the Maassluis Anglers ended up 12-2 regular season winners with the eight best scoring team. The Garden Dwarves will not let it happen, they've been the best team until last weekend and should be expected to set things straight. MIJ tip: Garden wins in a 200-points game.

I send out a league wide email today to ask everyone to stay active for the duration of the league. It has come to my attention that some teams are starting to look 'dead' now they're close to being eliminated from playoff contention.

We've kicked out a respected player of the past seasons after he didn't notify his absense, who'd clearly had been active for the duration of the league. Don't count on being invited back if your team is indeed 'dead'.

Week 10 Recap

Gothenburg (8th, 4-5, #9) vs Glasgow (11th, 1-8, #8)
The Gothenburg Goblins keep their playoff aspirations going with a close win over the Glasgow Kilties. With a 102.54-94.34 win, they return to .500 land.

Alf (6th, 5-4, #1) vs Paris (12th, 1-8, #11)
As expected, Alf Eat Cats steam rolled over Paris BrockSheriffs. With the second highest score of the week over the lowest score, Alf won 139.72-66.36.

Elven (5th, 6-3, #5) vs Ayr (7th, 4-5, #10)
The Elven Knights recorded the stolen victory of the week as they beat the even lower scoring Ayr Raiders. A 79.76-68.38 win moves the Knights into the top four on the rankings.

Maassluis (4th, 6-3, #4) vs Oslo (10th, 3-6, #12)
The Oslo Snowmonsters had a top week and were the unlucky losers of the week. With Donovan McNabb (4 touchdowns) and Mushin Muhammad (3 touchdowns) shining, the Maassluis Anglers have the high score of the week in a 147.20-90.80 win.

Rurhpott (3rd, 6-3, #3) vs Camargue (9th, 3-6, #7)
As I predicted (go me!) the Camargue Gardians pull the upset of the week in a game of middle of the road scores. A huge games from Dallas Clark helped the French over German team to keep the slim playoffs chances going. Final score: 82.88-77.80 Camargue.

Game of the Week
An Oriant (1st, 8-1, #6) vs Garden (2nd, 7-2, #2)
A matchup between two long time EFFL member French teams, the An Oriant Stars and Garden Dwarves made for an excellent matchup. The Stars have been upsetting with just one loss in nine games, despite averaging the sixth highest score per week. The Garden Dwarves have been a top team week in, week out and this weekend was their chance to set things right in a way. Going by the hand of Daunte Culpepper, the Dwarves stepped up and managed to score more than 100. With the Stars recording a season low, the final score looked like a total beating. With a 108.42-71.18 win, the Dwarves catch up and recapture the top seed position in the regular season race.

Standings
8-2 101.19 Garden Dwarves
8-2 83.13 An Oriant Stars
7-3 96.33 Maassluis Anglers
7-3 88.94 Elven Knights
6-4 104.65 Alf eat Cats
6-4 93.43 Rurhpott Miners
5-5 76.99 Gothenburg Goblins
4-6 72.66 Ayr Raiders
4-6 83.28 Camargue Gardians
3-7 70.46 Oslo Snowmonsters
1-9 79.21 Glasgow Kilties
1-9 70.55 Paris BrockSheriffs

Week 11 schedule
All but one game are no real big games this week. We're mainly seeing a top six versus a bottom six team matchups.

Ayr (8th, 4-6, #10 in pt) vs. Glasgow (11th, 1-9, #9 in pt)
The teams with Scottish blood face off against each other in a game where only Ayr is mathematically still in the race for the playoffs. Glasgow has been unlucky all season, currently on a four game losing streak desite having top six scores in the last three games. MIJ Tip: Glasgow wins by 10.

Rurhpott (6th, 6-4, #4 in pt) vs. Gothenburg (7th, 5-5, #9 in pt)
The Miners were a good team from week one to eight, but the last two games they amazingly fell back to below 80 points. Gothenburg is probably the toughest team to predict, especially after bouncing back from being the worst team in weeks eight and nine to recording a 100-point score in week ten. MIJ Tip: Rurhpott in a 80-75 type game.

Alf (5th, 6-4, #1 in pt) vs. Oslo (10th, 3-7, #12 in pt)
Mis-match of the week. Alf's team has been shining the last five weeks with at least 99 points each week. solo never topped 92 this season and it's not likely they will this week. MIJ Tip: Alf wins big.

An Oriant (2nd, 8-2, #7 in pt) vs. Paris (12th, 1-9, #11 in pt)
Stolen wins or not, An Oriant ranks second and the week ten score was only their first one of being in the bottom fourth of the week. Paris has only reached the weekly top half twice, both as sixth best team. MIJ Tip: An Oriant by 15.

Garden (1st, 8-2, #2 in pt) vs. Camargue (9th, 4-6, #6 in pt)
Camargue have been unlucky losers, but they're consistently the seventh best team of the week, which usually means a close loss. Garden has been top three in seven of ten weeks. MIJ Tip: Garden wins big.

Game of the Week
Maassluis (3rd, 7-3, #3 in pt) vs. Elven (4th, 7-3, #5 in pt)
The game of the week is one with big implications. The winner will take third place untied and stay close to the top two spots, the loser might see Alf eat Cats and also possibly the Rurhpott Miners move over them. Maassluis have been a consistent top four team, but the last five games they have ranked 1st, 2nd, 8th, 10th and 12th. Elven is consistently ranking fifth each week and this season had only two breakout games for a top score. Going by the week-by-week scores, they have been outscoring the other team 5 times each and only three times were within 15 points of each other. Need something to seperate the two? Going by the power rankings, Maassluis should record one more win, it migh come this week. MIJ Tip: Maassluis wins in a very close game.

Power Rankings Weekly
10-4 Garden
9-5 Alf
9-5 Rurhpott
9-5 Maassluis
8-6 Elven
7-7 An Oriant

Week 11 Recap

Ayr (8th, 4-6, #10 in pt) vs. Glasgow (11th, 1-9, #9 in pt)
Corey Dillon had a good MNF performance and ran enough points in to complete a huge win for the Ayr Raiders. Final score: Ayr 97.80-67.10

Rurhpott (6th, 6-4, #4 in pt) vs. Gothenburg (7th, 5-5, #9 in pt)
In a game of low scoring team, one had to win and the Rurhpott Miners were on the lucky end. Final score: Rurhpott 68.24-65.72

Alf (5th, 6-4, #1 in pt) vs. Oslo (10th, 3-7, #12 in pt)
The mis-match of the week turned out to be a complete off-day for both teams. Peyton Manning accounted for 2/3 of the Oslo Snowmonsters' points, but Domanick Davis saved the day for the Alf eat Cats. Final score: Alf 68.58-46.54

An Oriant (2nd, 8-2, #7 in pt) vs. Paris (12th, 1-9, #11 in pt)
With an injured Matt Hasselbeck, the An Oriant Stars lost two in a row to the supposedly weak Paris Musketeers, who finally had a top six score for the week. Final score: Paris 75.68-69.10

Garden (1st, 8-2, #2 in pt) vs. Camargue (9th, 4-6, #6 in pt)
In a game between two teams who played decent, one had to lose. With the fourth best score beating the fifh best score, the Camargue Gardians pull down another upset win this week. Final score: Camargue 84.40-81.22

Game of the Week
Maassluis (3rd, 7-3, #3 in pt) vs. Elven (4th, 7-3, #5 in pt)
The Game of the Week turned out to be one to remember for a long time. Well, at least for the losing end of the game. With the two best scoring teams of the weekend, both teams ended up above 100 points, yet the game was decided in the direction of one team. In the MNF game, the Patriots defense could have turned the tied, but with 7 points, they came 5 short to give the Maassluis Anglers the victory over the Elven Knights. Final score: Elven 114.76-110.18

Standings
8-3 99.38 Garden Dwarves
8-3 91.29 Elven Knights
8-3 81.80 An Oriant Stars
7-4 101.37 Alf eat Cats
7-4 97.59 Maassluis Anglers
7-4 91.14 Rurhpott Miners
5-6 83.38 Camargue Gardians
5-6 75.96 Gothenburg Goblins
5-6 74.94 Ayr Raiders
3-8 68.29 Oslo Snowmonsters
2-9 71.02 Paris BrockSheriffs
1-10 78.11 Glasgow Kilties

Week 12 schedule
Camargue Gardians (#7 in w/l, #6 in pt) vs Paris Musketeers (#11 in w/l, #11 in pt)
Camargue is with their points per game average still in the playoff race, but it will require some sort of miracle. Paris is out of the race.

Maassluis Anglers (#5 in w/l, #3 in pt) vs Glasgow Kilties (#12 in w/l, #8 in pt)
Maassluis have been front runners until recently and losing this game will drop them seriously back. Glasgow has been better recently, but not good enough to win more than one game.

Elven Knights (#2 in w/l, #4 in pt) vs Oslo Snowmonster (#10 in w/l, #12 in pt)
The best team in week 11, Elven is the favorite in this week's mis-match. Oslo is again the underdog side of a the mis-match, especially after the amazingly low score in week 11.

Rurhpott Miners (#6 in w/l, #5 in pt) vs Ayr Raiders (#9 in w/l, #10 in pt)
Rurhpott has recently dropped a bit, but a week 11 win keeps them in the battle for the four playoff tickets. Ayr should be concidered out of the race, but with 5 wins they are mathematically still in there.

Garden Dwarves (#1 in w/l, #2 in pt) vs Gothenburg Goblins (#8 in w/l, #9 in pt)
The top seeds so far, Garden is on their way to be the first team to clinch a playoff berth. They will need to beat Gothenburg, who are still hanging onto the last straw.

Game of the Week:
An Oriant Stars (#3 in w/l, #7 in pt) vs Alf eat Cats (#4 in w/l, #1 in pt)
An Oriant were the untied leaders only two weeks ago, but two recent losses dropped them back to third and a loss in this game will likely drop them out of the top four. Alf had a slow start, but with the highest points per game average in the league and a three-game winning streak, you can say they have one half win more than the other teams.

Playoff Scenario
With six teams in a tight race, not a single team can clinch a playoff ticket in week 12. Note that with a scheduled matchup in week 13 between two 7-4 teams, to reach the plays a team will need at least 8 wins. That is providing the game doesn't end up tied, otherwise the 'cut' will be at 7 wins and 1 tie.

Remaining Schedule of the top six teams
Garden (Gothenburg, Ayr, Maassluis)
Elven (Oslo, Glasgow, Rurhpott)
An Oriant (Alf, Oslo, Camargue)
Alf (An Oriant, Camargue, Gothenburg)
Maassluis (Glasgow, Rurhpott, Garden)
Rurhpott (Ayr, Maassluis, Elven)

It seems that Maassluis and Rurhpott have the tough schedules, but with a head-to-head, one of them will be at least 8-7 going into the last weekend of regular season play. With that, the last playoff ticket will be awarded in the last weekend. The week 14 games Garden-Maassluis and especially Elven-Rurhpott will likely be some sort of early playoff games.

Garden will be in the final four with 2 wins in the last 3 games, providing they remain in second place in points per game.
Elven could afford a loss, but not against Rurhpott and they will need to move up to at least third best in points per game if they lose two games.
An Oriant need to beat Alf to stay in the race, yet winning 2 games might be enough afterall with other matchups.
Alf will likely get into the final four with a win over An Oriant and 1 more win, providing they hold on to the top two points per game status they have.
Maassluis will need to win against Rurhpott and 1 more win could be enough if they can move up to second in points per game, but 3-on-3 looks necessery.
Rurhpott needs to beat Maassluis and Elven to reach the final four, losing to Ayr could make that insufficient, unless they move up to the top two in points per game.

All in all, to reach the playoffs, it will most likely require a 10-4 record. A team at 9-5 wanting to get there will need to be first or second in points per game. 8-6 will more than likely not be enough for a playoff ticket. That means that one of the 5-6 teams Ayr, Camargue and Gothenburg can only reach the final four with 3 wins, with some lucky results in the other games and a big improvement in the points per game rankings.

I'd like to point out that the dire Glasgow effort this year isn't down to me dumping the team or anything. Lineups have been updated every week and I'm still losing. I guess I'm just hopeless.

I noticed that. It's good to know people are happy to play spoilers role (Hey, I've been lucky enough to never have that role in this fantasy league, I can't really tell how i would react.)

I wouldn't mind if you'd forget to do your 'duty' this week...

Creativity with RBs is a key element.
You got to find ways to work around injuries (Quentin Griffin), suspensions (Jamel Lewis), backup roles (T.J. Duckett) and total unpredictability in roles (Artose Pinner) by picking up the annual Broncos breakout (Reuben Droughns), the hottest fourth stringer in the league for three weeks (Mewelde Moore), the receptions back when the star is out (Tony Fisher) and the aged vet who's only in the mix when the franchise back has some bruised ribs (Dorsey Levens).

Not mentioning you released the backup for Holmes just before Holmes aggravated his injury (Derrick Blaylock) and the fourth quarter monster backup for LT (Jessie Chatman).

That's pretty funny really, I was about to start one, but got lured away by the NFL MVP thread.

Week 12 Early Recap

Camargue Gardians (#7 in w/l, #6 in pt) vs Paris Musketeers (#11 in w/l, #11 in pt)
Camargue has Marc Bulger left in MNF, Paris has Isaac Bruce left. Still, this game is over, Camargue is 80.30-56.16 up and holds on to the last straw.

Maassluis Anglers (#5 in w/l, #3 in pt) vs Glasgow Kilties (#12 in w/l, #8 in pt)
Maassluis again leaned on the Reuben Droughns, Donovan McNabb and the Patriots defense to get close to the century mark again. But then, with Glasgow having their worst weekend of the season, the game was a total walkover. With only Maassluis' Bubba Franks active in MNF, Maassluis wins 94.86-59.92.

Elven Knights (#2 in w/l, #4 in pt) vs Oslo Snowmonster (#10 in w/l, #12 in pt)
Elven caught Oslo on a bad week, for Elven that is. Peyton Manning and Rudi Johnson together scored enough points to beat Elven, despite having Ryan Longwell active in MNF. Oslo has a 106.84-64.70 lead.

Rurhpott Miners (#6 in w/l, #5 in pt) vs Ayr Raiders (#9 in w/l, #10 in pt)
It seems that Ayr has started their catch-up effort a little late, yet they probably upset Rurhpott. Javon Walker and Ahman Green have to show up big time on MNF to avoid that the Miners fall back in the playoff race. Ayr leads 101.08-52.52.

Garden Dwarves (#1 in w/l, #2 in pt) vs Gothenburg Goblins (#8 in w/l, #9 in pt)
Write off Gothenburg, they're done. Despite having Brett Favre and Marshall Faulk still to play in MNF, they trail by over 100 points to top ranked Garden, who still need one win to clinch a playoff ticket. Garden leads 116.90-16.80.

Game of the Week:
An Oriant Stars (#3 in w/l, #7 in pt) vs Alf eat Cats (#4 in w/l, #1 in pt)
An Oriant lost their last two and being matchup up to the hottest team, it didn't bode well for them. And it showed, in probably the high scoring game of the week, An Oriant failed to score enough points to win. Alf wins 106.40-92.30.

Projected Standings with estimated point averages after week 12:
9-3 100.00 Garden Dwarves
8-4 102.50 Alf eat Cats
8-4 97.50 Maassluis Anglers
8-4 90.00 Elven Knights
8-4 82.50 An Oriant Stars
7-5 92.50 Rurhpott Miners
6-6 85.00 Camargue Gardians
6-6 77.50 Ayr Raiders
5-7 72.50 Gothenburg Goblins
4-8 70.00 Oslo Snowmonsters
2-10 70.00 Paris BrockSheriffs
1-11 75.00 Glasgow Kilties

Playoff Scenario
There are still six teams in a tight race. In week 13, the Garden Dwarves can clinch a ticket with a victory. The playoffs cut is now officially at 8-6 or better. So, Camargue and Ayr need a miracle to get there, especially given their points per game figures.

Week 13 schedule
Gothenburg vs Paris - both are out of the race
An Oriant vs Oslo - An Oriant needs to win to stay in the race
Elven vs Glasgow - Elven can't afford to lose this one
Garden vs Ayr - Garden can clinch a playoff ticket with a win, Ayr needs a miracle
Alf vs Camargue - Alf can help theirselves with a win to realistically clinch a final four ticket. Camargue needs a miracle.

Game of the Week: Maassluis vs Rurhpott
Both teams are in a must-win scenario. Rurhpott have to win their last two games to sneak into the final four, Maassluis need a win as they face the top ranked Garden Dwarves in week 14.

Remaining Schedule of the top six teams
Garden (Ayr, Maassluis)
Elven (Glasgow, Rurhpott)
An Oriant (Oslo, Camargue)
Alf (Camargue, Gothenburg)
Maassluis (Rurhpott, Garden)
Rurhpott (Maassluis, Elven)

Week 12 Final Recap

Well, MNF provided little stats to even come close to turnaround games, so I'm not going to give a deeper review than providing the (provisional) final scores.

He, I like it how I'm in a position to prevent both Alf and Manu from making the playoffs...I will do my best to upset them...

Theoretically, you're still in the race, although it's a minimal chance, your team is still alive.

And then, the usual stuff, this time the combined weekly and annual Power Rankings:
10-4 Garden Dwarves
9-5 Alf eat Cats
9-5 Maassluis Anglers
8-6 Rurhpott Miners
8-6 Elven Knights
7-7 Camargue Gardians
7-7 An Oriant Stars
6-10 Glasgow Kilties
5-9 Ayr Raiders
5-9 Oslo Snowmonsters
5-9 Gothenburg Goblins
5-9 Paris BrockSheriffs

MIJ predictions for week 13 games:
Gothenburg vs Paris
Despite a decent start, Gothenburg dropped back and have been the worst team in three of the last weeks. Paris haven't been much better all season, having never ranked in te weekly top five teams.
MIJ tip: Gothenburg 70-60

An Oriant vs Oslo
After a good start, An Oriant has now lost three straight, but did get over 90 points in three of the last five weeks. Oslo has gone from worst to over 100 points last week, which means it could be a close game.
MIJ tip: An Oriant 80-70

Elven vs Glasgow
Elven has been the fifth best team this season, with a few number one spots. But in the last three weeks, they feel to below 80 points twice. Glasgow was on the move up in points, but after 85 or more in three straight, they lost their last two with below 70 pointers.
MIJ tip: Elven 85-70

Garden vs Ayr
Garden can clinch a playoff ticket, but the funny thing is, Ayr is really hot right now, with over 95 points in the last two weeks. Garden is topping 100 every second week, so they are on schedule to be kept below the century mark this weekend.
MIJ tip: Garden 110-90

Alf vs Camargue
With five scores of 99 or more points in the last six weeks, no doubt that Alf is the hottest team in the league. But then, Camargue has been top four in three of the last four weeks and they could be the upset winners of the week, again.
MIJ tip: Alf 95-85

Game of the Week: Maassluis vs Rurhpott
Rurhpott seems to have lost it with less than 80 points in each of the last four weeks. With Maassluis hitting 100 or more the past three weeks, this game could amazingly be the mis-match of the week, as on average Maassluis scored 50 points more each of the past three weeks.
MIJ tip: Maassluis 90-75

Pre-MNF recap of week 13
Gothenburg vs Paris - MIJ tip was: Gothenburg 70-60
Does anyone care? Sorry guys, but these teams' seasons are done, concerning the final four. Edgerrin James edged the Paris Musketeers to a 77.84-68.24 win.

An Oriant vs Oslo - MIJ tip was: An Oriant 80-70
In dire need of a win, the Stars clinch the win before Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander will shine on MNF. The An Oriant Stars can expect that the Seahawks duo will add about 25 points to the 78.70-68.40 lead.

Elven vs Glasgow - MIJ tip was: Elven 85-70
With the Elven Knights being in a tough situation, they will probably need to win this game to remain as a playoff contender. But Drew Bledsoe and Curtis Martin were hot for the underdogs and did just enough to pull the upset. Glasgow Kilties win 103.28-101.42.

Garden vs Ayr - MIJ tip was: Garden 110-90
The Ayr Raiders need to win to keep a minor chance, but even with Keyshawn Johnson and Rashad Anderson to go, the Dallas duo are expected to score about 15 points and come short to pull the upset. The Garden Dwarves will clinch the #1 seed for the playoffs with the 105.86-72.60 lead.

Alf vs Camargue - MIJ tip was: Alf 95-85
Here's a big MNF decision to be made. With the Alf eat Cats coming short this weekend, Julius Jones and the Seahawks defense need to combine for 6.35 points to pull the upset and keep the underdogs in the playoffs hunt. Te Camargue Gardians trail 79.28-85.62.

Game of the Week: Maassluis vs Rurhpott - MIJ tip was: Maassluis 90-75
Donovan McNabb is on fire and single-handedly marches his team past the Rurhpott Miners. For them, reaching the final four has become a longshot, even playing the Elven Knights next week isn't enough to get there. The Maassluis Anglers win 123.46-72.60.

Provisional Standings after week 13:
10-3 101.22 Garden Dwarves Includes expected win over Ayr
9-4 100.11 Maassluis Anglers
9-4 84.29 An Oriant Stars Includes 25 mock points for Hasselbeck and Alexander
8-5 100.54 Alf eat Cats includes expected loss to Camargue
8-5 90.71 Elven Knights
7-6 87.32 Rurhpott Miners
7-6 86.17 Camargue Gardians Includes expected win and 15 mock points for Jones and Seahawks
6-7 77.93 Ayr Raiders Includes expected loss and 15 mock points
5-8 73.53 Gothenburg Goblins
4-9 71.26 Oslo Snowmonsters
3-10 72.17 Paris BrockSheriffs
2-11 78.64 Glasgow Kilties

Week 14 schedule
Oslo vs. Glasgow
Both teams are done and only play for their honor. Oslo can still try to move up to 9th place. Glasgow can still try to move up to 11th place.
MIJ Tip: Glasgow wins their third of the year

Ayr vs. Paris
Both teams are done and only play for their honor. Ayr can still move up to 7th or even 6th place, but it will require a monsterous score. Paris can still reach 10th place.
MIJ Tip: Ayr ends the year at 7-7 after winning the last game

Alf vs. Gothenburg
Alf is in a win is in situation, the difference in points per game is too big to lose out on tiebreakers. That means that Alf will also make it if the Elven Knights lose. For Gothenburg this game can make something good from some other front (IHOF). For them, reaching 8th place is a longshot.
MIJ Tip: Alf wins in a high scoring game and clinched the playoff ticket

An Oriant vs. Camargue
With their points per game average, An Oriant will require a win to make the playoffs. But then, if either the Alf eat Cats or Elven Knights lose, they'll make it as #4 anyway, with both losing, they'll be #3. Camargue needs a monster score and losses from the same teams to have a 1-out-of-a-million chance come through.
MIJ Tip: An Oriant gets hot in time and wins by their own power

Elven vs. Ruthpott
For Elven, it's a tough situation. They need a win to get past the Alf eat Cats' better points per game average, yet will still need a lose from either the Alf eat Cats or An Oriant Stars to make the final four. Technically, they could also surpass a losing Maassluis Anglers team, but with their points per game, that's just as realistic as surpassing Alf eat Cats with them and Elven losing. For the Rurhpott Miners, the playoffs are a miracle away. They need a huge score and a loss from the Alf eat Cats to get there.
MIJ Tip: Elven wins, but comes short to reach the final four due to other results

Game of the Week: Garden vs Maassluis
Well, is this the game of the week, or simply just one of a few that can reshuffle the playoff tickets? The Garden Dwarves clinched a playoff ticket, but with Maassluis scoring a lot lately, the #1 seed is on the line in this game. The Maassluis Anglers grab the #1 seed with a 15-point win, yet have realistically clinched a final four ticket due to their points per game average. But then, the winner of the two might have to face the Alf eat Cats as #4, with the #2 seed being matched with the potential #3 seed An Oriant Stars. Strategic losing or not, a zero score can drop a losing Maassluis to #4 seed or even out of the playoffs, a losing Garden Dwarves can fall to #3 seeds. Bottom line, the regular season title is decided in this game, with the Garden Dwarves having the advantage of about 1 point per game going into the last game.
MIJ Tip: Garden shows why they've been the clearcut #1 most of the year and this year do manage to hold Maassluis away from 1st place in the regular season

Realistic seedings scenario's:
Format and idea proudly copied from Cthomer5000's IHOF playoff scenarios

Garden:
#1 - Garden win; Garden lose by <15
#2 - Garden lose by >15

Maassluis
#1 - Maassluis win by >15
#2 - Maassluis win by <15; Maassluis lose AND An Oriant lose AND Alf lose
#3 - Maassluis lose AND (An Oriant win OR Alf win)
#4 - Maassluis lose AND An Oriant win AND Alf win

An Oriant
#2 - An Oriant win AND Maassluis lose
#3 - An Oriant win AND Maassluis win; An Oriant lose AND Alf lose AND Elven lose
#4 - An Oriant lose AND (Alf win OR Elven win)

Alf
#2 - Alf win AND Maassluis lose AND An Oriant lose
#3 - Alf win AND (Maassluis lose OR An Oriant lose)
#4 - Alf win AND Maassluis win AND An Oriant win; Alf lose AND Elven lose

Elven
#3 - Elven win AND Alf lose AND An Oriant lose
#4 - Elven win AND (Alf lose OR An Oriant lose)

Additional note:
Due to the difference in points per game between Alf and Maassluis, the given scenarios with "Alf win AND Maassluis lose" could be wrong if Maassluis manages to score about 10 points more than Alf in week 14. But if this will happen, it will not affect the difference between being #4 seed or out of the playoffs, but rather the difference between being #3 and #4 seed, or between #2 and #3 seed.

MNF update of week 13
Gothenburg vs Paris
Nothing changed in MNF, Paris Musketeers won 77.84-68.24.

An Oriant vs Oslo
An Oriant already had the lead and as expected defended the lead with Matt Hasselbeck (36.16) and Shaun Alexander (22.4) extending the score to an overwhelming 127.26-68.40 win.

Elven vs Glasgow
Nothing changed in mNF, Glasgow Kilties won 103.28-101.42.

Garden vs Ayr
Garden had a big lead and on MNF, Keyshawn Johnson (17.6) and Richie Anderson (0, did not play) scored too little points to post a turnaround. The Garden Dwarves win 105.86-90.20.

Alf vs Camargue
Alf was holding a lead, but Camargue had two aces left to play with. Julius Jones (38.9) and the Seahawks defense (3.0) combined for enough points to pull the expected turnaround off. The Camargue Gardians win 120.18-85.62.

Game of the Week: Maassluis vs Rurhpott
Nothing changed on MNF, the Maassluis Anglers won 123.46-72.60.

Standings after week 13:
10-3 101.22 Garden Dwarves
9-4 100.11 Maassluis Anglers
9-4 86.97 An Oriant Stars Points per game changed due to MNF
8-5 100.54 Alf eat Cats
8-5 90.71 Elven Knights
7-6 88.86 Camargue Gardians Points per game changed due to MNF
7-6 87.32 Rurhpott Miners
6-7 78.13 Ayr Raiders Points per game changed due to MNF
5-8 73.53 Gothenburg Goblins
4-9 71.26 Oslo Snowmonsters
3-10 72.17 Paris BrockSheriffs
2-11 78.64 Glasgow Kilties

MNF changes mean that if An Oriant scores about 50 points more than Elven, they clinch the playoff ticket.
Camargue and Rurhpott still need miracles, scoring 155 and 175 points more than Alf, which is not realistic to happen.

By the way, if we have a losers bracket, with the #5 to 8 teams having their own playoffs, the four qualifying teams are as good as fixed. Ayr will be #8, Camargue and Rurhpott devide the #6 and #7 spots, the #5 spot is open and dependant on which team from An Oriant, Alf and Elven doesn't make it.

For schedule and other things see previous posts.

You just forgot to mention that:
comparing scores from both team in the past weeks Anglers leads with a 5-2 wins and an 105.75 ppg average against a "low" 95.41 for the dwarves.
I'll say you win with a 110-100 score.
But not enough to reach the 1st place.
Btw I don't see how the dwarves could be third unless the stars wins with more than 200 points...

A couple of scores changed, I guess...
I have nothing to do (well I do, but I act like I don't) and fail to double check everything. Go me...

Pre-MNF recap of week 14
Disclaimer, scores can still change, last week proved that as for example the Elven Knighs saw their provisional score reduced by 6 points.

Oslo vs. Glasgow
Both teams were out of the battle for 1 to 4 and also for 5 to 8, the losers' brackets. With only Deuce McAllister showing up form Glasgow, it turned out to be a huge blowout. Oslo wins 98.22-63.20.

Ayr vs. Paris
In a low scoring game, thinks are not decided yet. On MNF Tony Gonzalez will try to turnaround the score in Paris favor as the score is currently in favor for Ayr at 56.50-49.48.

Alf vs. Gothenburg
It wasn't a huge week for Alf, but Larry Johnson can make the last win of the regular season look better on MNF. The important thing is, Alf does what has to be done: taking the win to reach the playoffs. Alf leads 69.84-56.42.

An Oriant vs. Camargue
An Oriant does what it has to do for reaching the playoffs. Well, so it seems as Drew Bennett might try to turn the tide with a huge showing on MNF and help the Elven Knights out. An Oriant holds a big lead at 98.26-61.60.

Elven vs. Ruthpott
Elven does what has to be done to stay in the race, but barring a MNF miracle, the nineth win of the year won't be enough to reach the final four. Elven wins 92.86-73.46.

Game of the Week: Garden vs Maassluis
The game isn't decided yet, as Antowain Smith will have the opportunity to turn the score on MNF in favor of Garden, but the regular season standings top seed position has been decided. Maassluis was good, but not great enough to manage the needed 15-point win. Benching T.J. Duckett, who score 4 tds this weekend, might turn out to be a pricy decission down the road. Maassluis leads 94.80-87.80.

Provisional Standings after week 14:
11-3 100.98 Garden Dwarves Includes expected win with 10 mock points
10-4 87.83 An Oriant Stars Includes expected win
9-5 99.73 Maassluis Anglers Includes expected loss
9-5 99.07 Alf eat Cats Includes 10 mock points
9-5 90.87 Elven Knights
7-7 87.05 Camargue Gardians Includes expected loss with 10 mock points added
7-7 86.33 Rurhpott Miners
6-8 76.60 Ayr Raiders Includes expected loss
5-9 73.16 Oslo Snowmonsters
5-9 72.30 Gothenburg Goblins
4-10 71.26 Paris BrockSheriffs Includes expected win with 10 mock points added
2-12 77.54 Glasgow Kilties

The only possible changes in final rankings are based on the individual score of Antowain Smith, needing 7.01 points to hand Maassluis a loss, and Larry Johnson, needing 18.55 points to give Alf a better points per game average than Maassluis. A tie in Garden-Maassluis (Smith scoring 7.00) gives the same rankings as a Maassluis win would do.

Week 15 championship bracket schedule
If Antowain Smith scores more than 7.01 points and Larry Johnson scores more than 18.54 points
Garden Dwarves vs. Maassluis Anglers
An Oriant Stars vs. Alf eat Cats

If Antowain Smith scores less than 7.01 points or Larry Johnson scores less than 18.55 points
Garden Dwarves vs. Alf Eat Cats
An Oriant Stars vs. Maassluis Anglers

Week 15 consolation prize bracket schedule
Elven Knights vs. Ayr Raiders
Camargue Gardians vs. Rurhpott Miners

At least you guys didn't have T.J. Duckett on the bench and see Reuben Droughns lose his job to a guy named Tatum Bell.

Still, I put my money on Griffin and then on Droughns, so Bell is a problem to my fantasy team. Although, I just figured out the guy might be out for he year with a shoulder injury, so that might be no longer the case...

Post-MNF recap of week 14
Disclaimer, scores can still change, week 13 proved that as for example the Elven Knighs saw their provisional score reduced by 6 points.

Monday Night Football provided a huge game and, coming with it, the individual performances of the EFFL active players (Drew Bennett, Tony Gonzalez, Larry Johnson and Antowian Smith) really moved the scored around pretty much to even mess around the final standings at the top!

Oslo vs.

MNF: Ton Gonzalez had a chains moving role and racked up 7.6 points to help Paris to a 57.08-56-50 victory.

Alf vs. Gothenburg
It wasn't a huge week for Alf, but Larry Johnson can make the last win of the regular season look better on MNF. The important thing is, Alf does what has to be done: taking the win to reach the playoffs. Alf leads 69.84-56.42.
MNF: Larry Johnson had a key role and racked up 24.3 points to give Alf a 94.14-56.42 victory.

An Oriant vs. Camargue
An Oriant does what it has to do for reaching the playoffs. Well, so it seems as Drew Bennett might try to turn the tide with a huge showing on MNF and help the Elven Knights out. An Oriant holds a big lead at 98.26-61.60.
MNF: Drew Bennett went absolutely wild and in a career game racked up just enough points (41.30) to turn the tide and give Camargue a shocking 102.90-98.26 victory.

Elven vs.

MNF: Antowain Smith contributed a bit, but came just a little bit short with his 6.9 points and Maassluis wins 94.80-94.70 in the closest margin win of the week.

Provisional Standings after week 14:
10-4 100.76 Garden Dwarves record and points changed
10-4 99.73 Maassluis Anglers rank and record changed
9-5 100.09 Alf eat Cats points changed
9-5 90.87 Elven Knights rank changed
9-5 87.83 An Oriant Stars rank and record changed
8-6 89.29 Camargue Gardians record and points changed
7-7 86.33 Rurhpott Miners
6-8 76.60 Ayr Raiders
5-9 73.16 Oslo Snowmonsters
5-9 72.30 Gothenburg Goblins
4-10 71.09 Paris BrockSheriffs points changed
2-12 77.54 Glasgow Kilties

It's still provisional, but the MNF scores messed around big time:
*Garden didn't beat Maassluis
*Alf scored enough points to get past a losing Maassluis team, but that didn't happen
*An Oriant loses after all and even missed the playoffs
*Elven had to wait and goes into the championship bracket afterall

Week 15 championship bracket schedule
Garden Dwarves vs. Elven Knights
Maassluis Anglers vs. Alf eat Cats

Week 15 consolation prize bracket schedule
An Oriant Stars vs. Ayr Raiders
Camargue Gardians vs. Rurhpott Miners

Wow, I'm still shocked from seeing the Drew Bennett stat line...

BTW, the last post with "provisional" tags can be seen as final, the Yahoo! site has given the same scores and final rankings.

What a shocking end of the regular season.

Semi Finals Recap
Maassluis Anglers vs Alf eat Cats
Kerry Collins. The guy who threw 5 interceptions in the lost Super Bowl against the Baltimore Ravens back in early 2001. That guy tossed 5 touchdown passes to march the Alf eat Cats past the Maassluis Anglers. With a good game from Larry Johnson and off-days for Maassluis' Rueben Droughns and Donovan McNabb, the last non-French team got kicked out of the championship race. Final score: Alf 112.94, Maassluis 76.62

Garden Dwarves vs Elven Knights
The top seeds were strong as they were all season, leaning on the shoulders of Daunte Culpepper. With 3 touchdowns and 404 yards through the air, the Elven Knights had no shot at following pace. Even an amazing LaDainian Tomlinson and David Akers' worst possible showing couldn't overcome the off-days from Onterrio Smith and the Ravens defense. Final score: Garden 106.66, Elven 78.18

5th to 8th place playoffs
The Rurhpott Miners looked like the mid-regular season power house and with the Bills defense accounting for 2 scores, only a less than usual score from Jeff Wilkins kept their score low against the Camargue Gardians. With a 119.72-75.62 score, the Miners will now face the An Oriant Stars for 5th place. The Stars saw Kevin Jones shine bright enough to overcome good showings from Corey Dillon and Michael Vick, giving them a 81.84-68.36 victory over the Ayr Raiders.

EFFL Title Game IV: Garden Dwarves vs Alf eat Cats
The top two scoring teams of the regular season face-off in an exciting matchup. The Dwarves won the league in 2002, the Eat Cats are still without a league title. Who are the likely line-ups for these two teams?

Garden Dwarves:
QB Daunte Culpepper
RB Fred Taylor
RB Thomas Jones or Antowain Smith
TE Antonio Gates
WR Joe Horn
WR Darrell Jackson or Ashley Lelie
K. David Akers
D. Bears or Falcons

Alf eat Cats:
QB Kerry Collins or Byron Leftwich
RB Larry Johnson
RB Domanick Davis or Tatum Bell
TE Ken Dilger
WR Donald Driver
WR Santana Moss
K. Shayne Graham
D. Steelers

I tend to see the Garden Dwarves as the favorites, despite the Eat Cats' ability to show up with the right guys at the right moment. The Dwarves have been consistent throughout the year, while Alf's team struggled in the last weeks towards the playoffs. It should make for an exciting matchup nevertheless.

Remaining Schedule
For 3rd place: Maassluis Anglers vs Elven Knights
For 5th place: An Oriant Stars vs Rurhpott Miners
For 7th place: Camargue Gardians vs Ayr Raiders

I'm not sure either, but from what I could find, you can't have lost to the Knight in the final.
2003: won by Critch's Glasgow Kilties
2001: won by my Anglers
2002: Garden Dwarves and Knights were in the same division, while I know for sure my team took the only wild card for the semis

At RB, there is not way Bell starts for me
At WR, it sure will be Moss and Driver
At TE, I made yet another pickup
K & Def will stay

Driver, Domanick and Larry Johnson really helped you out this weekend. It's early to congratulate, but it's close to done.

It again confirms my theory that you need good RBs to win a FF league.

I play a QB by committee and didn't have my top WR (Owens) available for the playoffs. I also played TE by committee and picked up my kicker from FA.

Yay.
4th place after a 88-89 loss (at least I was smart enough to start Roethlisberger over McNabb)...

With that, we have an all-French podium.

2. Garden Dwarves (pim)
3. Elven Knights (non-fofc'er)
4. Maassluis Anglers (MIJB#19)
