Amonte to Flyers
For Guillaume Lefebvre, 2nd and 3rd round pick. Interesting

Roenick and Amonte could be great again...but it is a Hitchcock team.

Nice move. He's not as good as Nolan, but that's a solid pickup for the Flyers. Now we'll see if the Leafs counter.

Great pick up for the Flyers. I still doubt they have enough to beat the powers in the West though.

That was my argument against this...I'm certainly not a Flyers fan, but to pay Amonte 24 mil over the next 4 years in that system doesnt seem to fit. Plus he's playing in a less wide open conference. Granted they didnt give up much, but if they end up with a cap in place in '05 they may regret this. We'll see I guess.

DOLA- Then again, this is the Flyers we're talkin about and Bobby Clarke hasn't fired a coach in a while, so maybe it's not such a bad move.

I'm happy, but I think there is more to come for the Flyers...sounding the rumors that Gagne will be dealt for Satan or Iggie of Calgary...there is even word of getting Teemu.

The Flyers won't get anybody else. They already made two significant trades.
Iginla is staying put, at least until right before the start of next season (season ticket sales). Drury could definitely go to the East, and Satan will probably move. I think the Kings will hold on to Ziggy, though I'm not certain. Teemu's stock is way down. I don't see any team paying what they'd have to.

The Leafs and the Flyers got Nolan and Amonte for a song and nothing more...Selanne is going to be cheap, he a UFA and the end of the season right?!? So he'll be a rental wherever he goes (I heard he wants back to the Ducks). The Flyers still need a powerplay defender (funny I thought that was Weinrich) and there is still time for them to do so...I heard that the rumor du jour was Zhitnick (sorry for spelling)/Satan for Gagne and the Flyboys two first rounders (their own and Phoenix). With the Flyers it is never a surprise for a trade or a firing, it's something were used to (that and disappointment though not on the same level as Bengal fans). |

I believe that Selanne A) has a no-trade clause and B) has an option (6.5) for next season.
so, he may not be a rental. I'd love to see him go to, say, Colorado...

I've heard that Gagne is untouchable, though...
