How many strokes will Tiger win the Masters by?
Well, now that Chris Dimarco lost his lead in the 3rd round this morning. Seems like Tiger is right where he wants to be. Going into the final round - albeit a long one - with a lead on Sunday.

I'll say 4 but he could really open it up and win by anything up to 7 IMO.

I keep figuring that he'll want to win by a lot, to prove to everyone that he's back and all that the talk of a slump was b.s. - I mean, seriously. I can't see him giving it away. He knows if he does, the talk of a "Tiger Meltdown" will be the worst thing ever.

We still haven't seen the old Tiger who goes out with a lead on Sunday and runs away from the crowd in a long time. Until we see that again, I think Tiger will win but it will get close.
It would be fun if Lefty made a run, but I'm sure Vijay will be the one who challenges him, if for no other reason than I think Vijay is a tool and I hate watching him play. |

What started out to be a breeze for Tiger has quickly turned into an exciting tournament to watch.

It's ok..Tiger just won the tourney on 16. That was a Tiger shot that we're used to seeing. Game over.

DiMarco has had many chances for short birdies...especially on the front nine. Tiger did not have his A game today but his B game is good enough to beat most golfers.

No doubt. He had a ton of chances he needed to capitalize on if he really wanted this. He could've beat Tiger, had he done that - or at least forced Tiger to beat him. That said, with that shot on 18 into the bunker by Tiger, DiMarco could surely do himself some favours by getting that ball on the green and into the hole. But I don't see Tiger giving this thing up.

Dola-
DiMarco hit a hell of a shot there. Sucks it didn't go in. That was how he should've been playing all day.

Yeah, I think it's that or he's just not playing well - and is still managing to do well since DiMarco isn't like "beating him" it's just largely Tiger playing poorly and doing just enough to hold him off.
I've got a feeling that Tiger might falter here, but history has proven that he doesn't fold when he's down. I can't go against him here, either. He wants this, hell..needs this more than DiMarco does. Either way, he's #1 in the world again though.

Tiger looks poised with his gameface after that drive. I had no idea that Tiger's caddy had been around as a caddy that long - Ray Floyd's caddy in 1990. Craziness.

From what I heard, Vijay complained to tour officials about Lefty's cleats after the first round, saying they were too long, and that the divets they raised caused Vijay to miss a put or two. That wasn't Lefty's issue, though. Apparently Vijay also told some members of the media, and it got out (duh).
So Lefty confronted Vijay Friday night at dinner or something like that (in a public place), and things escalated so they were yelling at each other. Incidentally, the report I heard said Phil's cleats were measured by officials and came up legal. My understanding is Vijay is a bit of a turd.

hehe... You know it! I didn't know what they were talking about either, so I had to check and find out for myself. As for Vijay, sounds like a tool from all indications. Great golfer, but oh well. Uh oh, that shot that DiMarco hit is falling right back like his old one did. Hmm..I can't see Tiger giving him the same mistake he hit last time. But I gotta say, it's been a great Masters to watch.

DiMarco knew how to hit that shot this time around. But seems too little, too late IMO.
Tiger is gonna claim major #9. Or at least, he'd better.

Actually there is no rule against how long your spikes can be in golf. But Singh thought there was a burr on one of Phils that was causing some unneeded damage on the greens.

That putt..for about 2 seconds, didn't look like a gimmie.
But way to go Tiger. And Chris DiMarco. Didn't the crowd seem split? Like, I think they might have been louder if DiMarco managed to win it.

Man, I wish I could putt like that. I couldn't do that for pride, much less with the Masters on the line. Way to go, Tiger.

That is exactly what I thought. There wasnt a big roar of the crowd, it was more of a cheer of admiration. Last year when Phil made that putt the crowd was deafening and I agree they would have went nuts if DiMarco won. |

For as much "bad luck" that Tiger had in the first round. He sure made up for it in the last two rounds. But as most golfers will agree, it is better to be lucky than good. In my opinion if Tiger wants to win the US Open he better work on his driving accuracy. The rough in the US Open is much less forgiving than at Augusta National and if there is one part of his game that is weak, that is it.

That is a tradition that happens every year. Since Bobby Jones was a full time amateur he likes to reward the low amateur by bringing them into the Butler Cabin after the Tournament. |

Most of the time the amateurs don't make the cut, so that is why there hasn't been an amateur in the cabin for a while.

Actually, I think the high amateur last year (or was it 2003?) was in 13th place, easily above the cut line. I do think this is the first time I can remember where the high am was in Butler Cabin for the actual Green Jacket ceremony. I only seem to remember the prior winner giving the new winner a jacket and that's it.

Whittenburg was there last year. The low am is always in Butler cabin. I personally think it is the most awkward thing about the Master's telecast. |

The annual Butler Cabin byplay between Nance and Hootie is as awkward a thing as one will ever see in sports...
