Bad movie physics

I think we discussed this long ago, but I thought this website really did a good job of showing how poor movie physics are most of the time. I generally don't mind, but the whole sound in space thing always pisses me off.

They need to add 18-wheelers in there somewhere. Most movies that have a bigtruck in a chase scene are horrible. Watching some really bad Steven Siegal movie yesterday and this truck could excelerate as well as a Porsche it seemed, not to mention many other rather remarkable things.

A truck, even with an empty trailer, has no chance in hell of keeping up most 4 wheelers on the road if they have to hit their breaks at some point. Or make a 90 degree turn and never lose speed or ground on a car.

When I was in Florida, I went to this thing at MGM that explained how different car stunts were done, and how they modified the cars with things like several reverse gears, a gearshift that you just had to twist slightly to change gears, etc.

This is a good site for this kind of stuff, too: http://badastronomy.com/
