Keira Knightley, Boyfriend Split Up

Keira Knightley and her longtime boyfriend, Irish model Jamie Dornan, have split up, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"Keira and Jamie have decided to call a halt to their relationship in its current phase but they remain completely committed to each other as friends and will continue to see each other in this capacity," Dornan's rep tells PEOPLE.

Knightley, 20, and Dornan, 22, met at Manhattan photo shoot in August 2003. They kept their romance quiet for nearly a year before making their first public appearance together in May 2004. Recently, the couple attended the opening night of As You Like It starring Jude Law's estranged fiancée, Sienna Miller, in London.

"I think it's important to make time for the people in your life who you love and who love you back," Knightley told PEOPLE last July of her romance with Dornan.

Dornan will appear in Sofia Coppola's upcoming film Marie Antoinette, starring Kirsten Dunst.

Knightley, who previously dated British actor Del Synnott, next stars as model-turned-bounty hunter Domino Harvey in Domino, due out in October. She also stars in both upcoming sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean.

i hate Kierra i wanna fuck her daily and Knightly with that short cropped hair. she needs to add some hair, she was a knockout in Pirates of the Caribean.

i'd do Natalie Portman 4 times in a row, bald head or not. she was so fucking sexy in Garden State. she's gonna be a glorious wife for some guy.
