Thumbs up I Bet Some Rutgers Fans Are Very Happy Right Now

Looks like the Scarlet Knights have accepted a bid to the Insight Bowl to play against Arizona State. It's good to see the "birthplace of college football" finally get back to a bowl game.

That's great news. Arizona State is going to be tough though.

6-5 Arizona state is like getting to play a one loss USC team outside of the BCS....its playing a team with the talent to be a lot higher then their record shows...though keller is still out so rutgers has that going for them...if i were rutgers i would have tried to see if i could get a matchup more on my level, like a mid-major or a team like mizzou(yes, it pains me to say that as i was born in missouri)

If Rutgers plays like they did this past weekend, they will have a very good chance.

Yeah, I was going to make that joke myself. He was solid in Blade Runner! Now he's got a small role in the made-for-TV remake of The Poseiden Adventure. I guess time has not been kind.

I TiVO'd that for old-times sake, but haven't watched it yet...

It is hard to believe that Rutgers will play Arizona State. That is the team they played in their last, and only, bowl game nearly 30 years ago.

And that game was in New Jersey. Now they're playing ASU in Arizona... what are the odds?

Unfortunately, it's too pricey for me, and I won't be there.

You do know that the game is two days after Christmas, right? Bowl tickets make a great Christmas gift...

The game tickets aren't the problem, it's the airfare that is absolutely insane.

Eh, I guess that's true. Luckily I didn't have to worry about that last year since Houston is a four hour drive away. Hopefully the Miners come to Fort Worth this year so I don't have to worry about it again...

Yeah...between airfare, hotel, game ticket, and some spending money, it would come to around $1000 I figure, best case scenario. And while I could technically afford it, I honestly just don't know if I want to. Plus, I would need to take 3 vacation days from work, during a time of year when going into work is basically a vacation. So between the money, and having to use up the little vacation time I've accrued, it just isn't worth it to me.

Never thought I'd say that.

Saw this on the UTEP board...

Quote:
State gives $25,000 to help Rutgers students get to bowl game

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — To aid Rutgers students who want to support the football team at the Insight Bowl, acting Gov. Richard J. Codey on Friday authorized the state to contribute $25,000 to defray costs.
“Hopefully we can help these college kids get to Arizona to root on the Scarlet Knights to victory and bring home a late Christmas present for New Jersey,” Codey said Friday.
Rutgers plays Arizona State on Dec. 27 in Phoenix. It is the first bowl game for Rutgers in 27 years.
The money will be given to the Rutgers Scarlet R Club, which is getting a matching amount from the university.

Does this help you out, Logan, or are you done gradge-e-ated already?
