Graphics Card Questions
Given the choice, which would be better:
Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 GForce FX 5500/128 MB How do they compare to this: GeForce 6200 The computer is used for your basic internet stuff, but there are a couple of new games with intense graphics (Civ 4, City of Villains) that I would like to be able to play. Thanks for any forthcoming advice. |

I've never heard of the GMA 900, so I'd avoid it.
The FX 5500 is an okay card, but sort of an intermediate between DX 8.0 & DX 9.0. The 6200 will be a MUCH better all-around card for current games, although I'd spring for a 6600 if you can afford it.

One more question, and it may be really stupid:
I have a GeForce FX5200/128mb in my computer right now and it works fine for what I do with it. I also have a Geforce 5500/128mb in an older computer that i upgraded. I could buy a geforce 6200 128 or 256 mb for a decent price. Rank these in order if you would (I thought the higher the number did not always mean the better) and then tell me the difference in 128 or 256 mb. Thanks again. |

Some backround:
I want to buy this for my wife and stick either the geforce 5500/128mb which i already have (so its free), or stick a geforce 6200 into it (which i have to buy). If i buy do i get the 128 for 120 or the 256 for 150? Last edited by Dekanth : 12-28-2005 at 07:14 PM. |
