No doctor here, but "advanced life support" sounds worse than it is. My wife had a fainting episode this past summer and we took her to the emergency room because of it. "Life support" was the regular paramedics crew. On the way to the hospital they picked up another paramedic who could perform basic IVs - this was "advanced life support".

Yeah there was clarification in the ESPN article as to what that meant: "Advanced life support is a term typically used by paramedics or EMTs for resuscitation efforts that extend beyond basic CPR. Typically, it includes things such as IV therapy, intubation, and/or drug administration."

Was the stomach ailment caused by getting a good look at that Perkins waitress? Because if so, join the club.

Maybe Tiger's mother in law is pregnant with Tiger's love child! That's why she had stomach pains.

I'm still suprised by this. Not because I had any sense that Tiger was too moral to chase tail. But because, if asked, I would have figured that he would not do anything that would jeopardize his golf game. Why bag some skank when you could be getting in 9 holes of practice?

I guess he had time to be the best golfer in the world and bang skanks. He should do an ad for whatever electronic organizer he uses.

I didn't think it was a huge deal when the first girl came forward, but the guy is really coming across as a huge piece of shit now that it appears he was fucking anyone with a vagina. Who the fuck does that to the Mother of their children? I know cheating happens but Tiger seems to have no fucking conscience at all to be so blatant and aggressive in it.

Might be the greatest golfer ever but is a horrible human being.

At the end of the day, I think Tiger will come out of this fine. He may lose some sponsors, but he wont lose Nike. He is Nike golf. I don't think Nike had a golfing line - at least not one of note - before Tiger Woods. He also IS golf. He's much larger than his sport. So, he'll continue to be a draw, probably now more than ever, in fact.

Other than his fellow golfers, who don't seem to like him all that much and are probably reveling in this whole mess, the "golf world" - fans, announcers, etc. - will embrace him when he returns. They will cheer him and shower him with praise for overcoming this very difficult time (even though it's one entirely of his own making). They will rally around "their" Tiger and in a few months this whole thing will blow over.

He may lose some of his non-golf sponsors, since he's become a total joke at the moment, but I don't think they will all totally abandon him and, after a year or so, some others will pop back up. This whole thing will definitely cost him more many than most of us will likely make in our lifetimes combined.

Indeed. Nike Golf didn't exist pre-Tiger. They created it a few years after he went pro and he eventually switched to their equipment once his earlier deals expired.

And yeah, people forget that the overwhelming majority of golf fans are rich dudes. Emphasis on rich. Emphasis on dudes. Couple that with the fact that no one in his sport has the drawing power he does, his earning power shouldn't be hurt by this much, especially overseas where he still commands seven-figure appearance fees.

His behavior is despicable, but I don't think it's endemic to only him...I just think he was massively sloppy (pun intended) and now his hubris is coming back to bite him.

Other golfers may not like him, but they also know he's their meal-ticket. Purses have gone up a lot since Tiger joined the tour and there's no other golfer that would have caused the same change to happen. The change in the level of buzz about the game when he had the knee injury showed that to be the case.

My prediction is that he will have one of his best years ever - he's about 18 months after knee surgery now and has a few more months to go before the new season really starts. And the 2nd year timeframe is when athletes with knee injuries really seem to fully recover. So we'll have a fully healthy Tiger who's pissed off at the world. Not a good combination for the opposition when you combine it with the internal drive he's shown that he has already.

I could care less about golf. The only time I ever watch golf is when I go to my parents' place. They always have golf on TV. Even then, I don't really watch it.

Ever since my one summer as a cady, I have loathed the sport.
