That lineman is losing sleep over the decision to catch that ball.

Just saw a tweet saying Alabama just beat a South Carolina team that was so good they took Alabama to the limit. They should move up to #3 next week.

I am 100% confident that he refused to let the game in regulation on a game ending pick six. Losing by this field goal is less painful I guess.

When was the last time a safety lit up a receiver coming across the middle in the NFL? I feel like I have seen at least five receivers get BLOWED UP today alone

Hah, yeah that one got me, too. Like, NFW.

So how long has Oregon had these funky goal posts? I didn’t know there was some alternative post design/technology out there.

Thanks for playin Kiffie, but you're done.

Helluva lot of money spent to be "okay" or "decent".

LSU hung in there but also look vulnerable. Tigers are up next for the Hogs.

Texas-OU game was a major disappointment. Hoping for more of a fight from OU. Hope next week Texas vs Georgia is a great game.

Didn't see it but Vandy over KY and at 4-2 now. Last time Commodores was in a bowl was 2018. Good to see a perennial underdog (like the Hogs) do well so far.

Oklahoma's offense is the worst it's been in the modern era of college football. To add insult to injury, they were missing their top five wide receivers against Texas and had to move a DB to wide receiver just to fill out a depth chart. Throw a true freshman quarterback into the mix and I don't know what is so surprising about getting blown out by Texas.

Georgia is a better team than OU right now, but i don't have lots of faith that it is going to be a close game next week. Texas will probably win by two touchdowns. The SEC is Texas' to lose.

It looks like could be the new reality. I think OSU is still the most likely winner of the Big Ten when the season is done.

I wonder how their "NIL budgets" stack up to other programs, or how many players they have who are "self-redshirting" or "opting out" to protect their eligibility?

Crazy to me that Kirby Smart may not face any consequences for shoving a player.

That's right! I think they should suspend Mike Bobo for the Texas game! That'll show him! Maybe suspend him for the rest of the year with a "show-cause" just to be safe.

There's probably legal reasons why this can't be done, but couldn't the military academies load up on NIL money as part of their marketing/recruitment budget? They spend a ton of money doing flyovers and all sorts of other shit in sports. Heck, they were making video games at one point.

Building the academies into perennial powerhouses feels like a much better recruiting method than those other things. And probably a lot cheaper.

There's a federal law that prevents the service academy players from receiving any NIL funds because it would be considered using their public office for personal gain. The same as General Schwarzkopf couldn't go do commercials as General Schwarzkopf during the first golf war. The military service members can't use anything military related for private gain.

Cam Rising is out for the rest of the year with an injury. If he chooses, he can apply for a medical redshirt and get an EIGHTH year of eligibility

And people call BYU teams 'mature' LOL.

You know though in the day of NIL, it would probably be a smart idea, because no NFL team is going to take a flyer on a QB that has been hurt as much as Rising.

Let's grease up this slippery slope.

Why are we still limiting athletic eligibility? Now that we have college front offices, NIL etc, if a kid is in college (whether he is going to class now and/or actually learning anything is debatable just as it is now) and the program has a scholarship/roster spot available, just let the Danny Wuerffels, Craig Ericksons and Chris Weinkes play at the appropriate level for as long as they can.

On a related note, thinking of Weinke and his Heisman win at 28 years old, can you imagine Joe Burrow or Josh Allen who are both 28 playing college football this year?

I guess I'll make this "if the playoffs were now" thing my beat. Here we go (based on AP rankings):

1. Texas
2. Oregon
3. Miami
4. Iowa State

5. Penn State
12. Boise State

6. Ohio State
11. Tennessee

7. Georgia
10. Clemson

8. Alabama
9. LSU

First out: 5-1 Notre Dame, 6-0 BYU, 5-1 Texas A&M

Army and Navy are the next G5 conference teams out, at #23 and #25. I think you can assume that the SEC, B1G, ACC, and B12 will have a conference champion ranked above them. They need to be able to jump #15 Boise State somehow. Threats include undefeated Liberty, who is receiving votes at #38.

The problem for Army and Navy is their schedule is comically bad. But if either one can beat Notre Dame and beat the other academy, it should boost their chances quite a bit.

I'm rooting for Boise to make it simply because Jeanty is so much fun to watch. But it would be cool for a service academy to get in the playoff.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to the playoff as there should be a ton of really good games.

Of course. Although honestly, it still could. You're probably going to see the same number of teams from each conference. However it shakes out, teams will fall out and come back in. 5 SEC teams, 3 B1G teams, a Big 12, an ACC, one wildcard (currently Clemson, but could come from anywhere), and a G5. Given that it's going to look like this, despite a lot of these teams playing each other, it's not like it's impossible. I mean, we just saw 5 of the top 11 teams lose in one week, and it's not like this picture has been massively shaken up.

The weirder thing with Army and Navy is they could meet in the AAC Championship game on Friday, Dec 6th and then meet again the following weekend for the Army - Navy game.

The Dawgs lose one. Guess not a surprise since they aren't as dominant as they used to be.
