And now she calls me a little while ago terrified as they've given her dye to do a bone scan later. Concerned because her iron levels were low earlier in the week & did not improve with an IV iron infusion.

This rollercoaster ride has too many dips but the worst ones are usually when you aren't expecting them. Today is 19 days since we've seen her and the helplessness is very real right this moment.

Believe me, I understand. I'm living it minute by minute and can't figure out which way things are heading either.

Best I could come up with earlier was that after two days of running like crazy trying to solve practical stuff, this morning feels like losing balance on the edge of a cliff ... while blindfolded.

Will was heading out for a lunch with a college friend that's in town, so for the first time in 18 days I felt like I had to ... downplay something while still compelled to be honest enough to say something.

"some tests to try to get to the bottom of her iron issues" was what I went with. If he calls her while driving - which is not unlikely - then my understatement will get outted but, fuck, I'm just doing the best I can over here.

While on a cliff edge, blindfolded.

Doctor visited her in the past hour, NO sign of anything in a bone from her head to her feet.

The can't certify the hip area as cancer-free cause, microscopic stuff etc so there's still treatment ahead (TBD) but this was as good a report as we were gonna get and a tremendous report considering the stark terror of yesterday.

She's coming home Monday is what we're told this morning. I will save the absolute unspeakable clusterfuck that all the administrative aspects of that have been (and getting worse), I refuse to let their baffling bungling bullshit rob us of appreciating this latest news.

Haven't posted about my mom in awhile.

1) She made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas.

2) I don't think she's making it through another one.

Her esophagus is completely closed, hasn't been able to eat anything aside from liquids in quite some time. Rail thin. Collapsed last night, refused the ambulance my dad called. Collapsed again overnight, this time she's willing to actually go to the hospital.

She shoulda gone last night, and I tried to talk her into it, but I'm pretty sure she's convinced if she goes to the hospital, she's not getting out.

edit: As far as the cancer specifically, it hasn't spread, but it's very much looking like it's not going to need to.

So sorry, CW. I wasnt there when my Mom passed. I was in denial, thinking she was to strong and stubborn to let death take her. Even went to work the day they took her off a ventilator. And they took her off at 11 am in the morning. Luckily during my lunch break when I got the bad news. I went home and suffered.

Be happy you were there to send her off. But so sorry to hear for your loss.
