Nebraska needs to be gone from the B1G. They are no longer a national brand in a low population state that adds nothing to the B1G.

God forbid that a football team wants to play football games.

They put the contract together because if it couldn't be agreed to, why bother asking. They have only gone public because the story leaked.

- ND already has to make up the WF game during their only remaining off week (weekend prior to ACC championship).
- ACC teams already play more games than any one else this year.
- If ND wins, they won't get credit for the win so why bother.
- If you push WF to play ND on Nov 7 so ND / Clemson can be played on that off weekend, you risk back to back ND / Clemson games.

No good solutions here, especially if more Clemson players come down with it.

Except a football team that wants to play games rather than sit around on their asses.

Given the absurd handling of this entire season by the B1G, it's Nebraska who would be better off by departing.

Isn’t this pretty much true about everyone in the conference aside from Ohio St, Michigan, and sometimes Penn St and maybe Wisconsin?

Who do we consider national brands in football?
I’d say:
Notre Dame
Michigan
Ohio St
Texas
Oklahoma
USC
Alabama
Georgia
Florida

I sort of struggle with the ACC because Clemson certainly is right now and Florida St and Miami have been recently, but you could say the same about Tennessee, Oregon, Auburn, Penn St, Virginia Tech, etc fairly recently. ACC is interesting because Clemson’s rise sort of coincided with deterioration of Fl St, VPI, and Miami. I guess that’s always sort of true in power conferences, but seems less so in Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC.

Is national championship relevance required to retain your national brand? And if so, how long are you grandfathered in?

Similarly, but with a lower threshold, is national relevance (top... 10? 20?) required, and what's the shelf life for that?

Sure, teams want to play. Only 2 teams voted in favor of playing when the B1G originally shut down, Iowa and Nebby. But the presidents agreed to only playing conference games where they could control the testing and had an idea of what teams and schools were doing.

This is why the B1G went conference only, as did the SEC.

The problem is that Nebby agreed to the arrangement and then a month later does this stupid shit. And the fact that they have been not B1G like since day1, it makes them that much more of a piece of shit school.

When the Missouri/Florida game was caneled, you did not see Mizzou running out and trying to schedule a game, because the respected the agreement the conference put in place. Nebby didnt.

And I agree with getting rid of Nebby, Rutgers and Maryland.

The 12th team should be Pitt.

Would have been Mizzou, had they not opened their mouths during the process. Mizzou screwed that one up. They would be a much better fit than Nebby.

I live 1 1/2 hours away. I would have been able to see Iowa a whole lot more.

Not an apples to apples situation. Missouri versus Florida was pushed back one week. It was not out right canceled

I’m open to discussing, but I think national championships are pretty important.

Here’s an article I read a few years ago that lays the concept out as Kings, Barons, Knights, and Peasants (everyone probably saw it when it came out and there have been some changes, I’m sure): College football program rankings: Top teams by prestige - Sports Illustrated

These were the kings in 2017:
Alabama
Clemson
Florida
Florida State
LSU
Miami
Michigan
Nebraska

Notre Dame
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Penn State
Texas
USC

I think a part for me is when one of these programs come sniffing around one of WVU’s verbal recruits, I’m thinking, “well shit, they’re gone.” I’d say, from that list, Nebraska, Miami, Florida St, and maybe not LSU or Clemson (also hugely dependent on location).

#20 Coastal Carolina is on the road today at Georgia State at noon on ESPNU. Still don't know who will start at QB, there is a chance it will be the freshman, but I bet they rest him for another week unless they are losing big at halftime. Coastal is 1-2 against Georgia State, including a 10 point loss last season where they ran all over the defense. So have to have big games from them if the magic is going to continue

Roomsurfed the den and saw a little of Georgia-Kentucky. When the UK quarterback was on the sideline phone after their field goal late q2, there was a bottle of Jim Beam in the little cart in the background of the shot. It was zoomed enough that I could read the label clearly and at least one FB friend confirmed seeing the same thing.

I know it's Kentucky football so I get the temptation but damned if I've ever seen that on the sidelines before.

edit to add: Twitter delivers the screen cap

I bet I saw the one you had -- overzoomed on the bottle and the label blurred. I saw it first and it was so pixilated that I was starting to doubt myself, then I found the one I posted.

And just to make me look like an idiot they did start the freshman, and the Chants making Georgia State look like idiots currently, and lead 34-0 at the half. Wonder if they will rest him for the rest of the game now.

And to answer my question no they didn't sit him and Coastal marched down the field in their first series in the 3rd, mostly runs and now lead 41-0

Vandy isn't just bad. They're REALLY bad. Unprepared, uncoached kinda bad.

I use the "couldn't beat a decent high school team" reference somewhat frequently but I'm not sure that it's more apt for anyone than 2020 Vandy.

Hey! I know it's easy to forget that we're a P5 team but forgetting us in this context hurts.

Aggies won the toss but Hogs up 7-0 against the #8 Aggies.

Our first possession was pretty impressive, we were able to run against the Aggies. 12 plays 87 yards, 63 on the ground.

Hope this keeps up!

I think we can officially eliminate the Big XII from any playoff contention with OSU losing to Texas. The only 1-loss team that had a chance was Oklahoma and they already have 2 losses.

Who had Iowa State & K-State tied for the lead after 5 games?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Uh oh. Aggies up 28-14 at the half with 4 consecutive TD drives.

They are shredding our defense at will, we are doing alot of 3 man rush and not getting enough pressure on QB. We better make some pretty good adjustments or it'll be a long 2H.

EDIT: we drove pretty well on the last possession and missed a 49 FG. Still showing some offensive capability but Aggies may just be too much for our defense.

Ohio State is just a RB short this year. The two guys that play are solid but nothing close to the level of Dobbins. I'm ready to give Day a lifetime contract guaranteeing him top 3 salary too. The play calling is incredible.

Iowa is not good this year.

It sucks to be a fan of this program, but I hope this 2-8 season ends the Ferentz era. Racism+bad football has to equal the end, right?
