Because one was traded for a third and one for what is going to be a middling first, and the Cowboys have essentially now put a 2018 first round price on his extension. So either he sucks so bad they gave up a first for another Roy Williams, or he’s doesn’t suck bad enough to not be worth resigning and gets a massive contract.

They were basically bidding against themselves in the media, and nobody else was giving up a first for the 2018 version of Amari Cooper. I’d rather give up a third for Tate (who is a better receiver right now) every single time, and I don’t think it’s even close.

5-7 firsts?

Not a chance.

It would be like having a Ferrari with a Hyundai engine. You could never surround him with enough talent.

Nobody is worth that.

Though if you have a history of botching the draft then it probably does move the needle closer.

So who's ready for an exciting NFL Thursday game featuring a two teams with a combined two wins?

I was trying to think of teams that could trade for Rodgers and have it make sense. You look at a team like Baltimore which would make a ton of sense on the field, but they have so much tied up in Flacco.

The Jaguars and Cowboys would make the most sense in the offseason. Both aren't tied up financially in a QB. Both have good defenses (I know the Jags have faltered this year). Both have a running back who would benefit a great deal from having Rodgers.

Now seeing Mullens after having previously seen some of Beathard's high points...I'm starting to think Kyle Shanahan may be pretty good.

Ok? Is 4 firsts and 3 seconds too much for the 5-8 years or so that Rodgers has left?

Considering he's 34 and missed 9 games last year and has been playing through injury since week 1 this year I wouldn't go higher than 2 firsts for him. Even that price doesn't make sense for half the teams in the league.

His salary would hamstring most teams.

Maybe teams should offer their star QB's a lower salary and give their wives an insane contract to work in their marketing department (or somewhere for the team). That contract wouldn't count against the cap.

I’m not convinced Carr isn’t a big part of the problem, even as bad as that line looked. The number of times he passed up an easy completion underneath just to step right up into an oncoming rush was at least 3 or 4.

I know it's a crap-ton of money, but I still don't understand how someone could give up that kind of cushy job after having been off the sidelines for so long. Jimmy Johnson and Bill Cowher got it right - although, I'm sure THEY were the ones to save teams from themselves by declining opportunities. Gruden simply couldn't pass up that kind of money, I guess.

Couldn't happen to a better organization...

Yeah, Gruden coming back to coaching didn't make much sense. Coaching is so much more stressful. He had a great gig, even if he wasn't great at the job. This year's crew makes me wish he was back on MNF. Why can't we get Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth on MNF? (Not a real question - I just want a good team doing MNF.)

Someone on twitter suggested a Gruden-for-Witten trade would be in the best interests of everyone.

This (Gruden) has to be part of the plan, right? They had to discuss the near future during contract talks when they gave him a ten year deal. This is an intentional tank. I don't think Gruden honestly expects to win any games. He wants all these nice draft picks to build his team.

The Raiders were running out the clock in the third quarter ffs

Ya, the Raiders were the oldest team in the league coming into the season. And they were bad. No new coach wants that combo.

Hopefully he and Willie Taggart are doing some sort of rope-a-dope, "the team I inherited was so bad" schtick so that when they build a winner, everyone will consider them geniuses. At least, that's about the only hope I now have for FSU...

100 million. Guaranteed. And an owner who will basically let you go empty cupboard with no pressure, because you were nice to him when he was a lonely child driving around in a van and eating every day at P.F. Chang's (plus he doesn't have the cash to pay you even if he wants to fire you).

Bills down 28-0 at the end of the half and have an untimed down with the choice of 55 yard FG attempt or hail mary. They opt for the hail mary and Nathan Peterman tucks the ball and tries to run.

Mahomes has 29 TDs in 10 career games so far. Peterman looking for the "Bizarro Mahomes" record of 29 INTs in 10 career games.

I have no idea how Peterman is an NFL QB other than the obligatory naked photos of his coach. He just missed a wide open McCoy who would have walked in for a TD to throw to the guy underneath who was double covered. He was even looking in the right direction FFS.

I honestly think you could find anyone who started at a power 5 school last year and they would be a better NFL QB. It’s even worse when you think he’s been in the NFL for nearly 2 years now and has some experience starting as well.

That was absurd. If they can't overturn that, they might as well just say spots are unreviewable plays.

That absolutely stunk. Even if the Rams come away from that with a FG, the game changes dramatically. That said, all we needed to do was not give up a huge play, and Marcus Peters gives up another long TD and that ends the game.

Am I the only person who thinks Joe Flacco deliberately didn’t throw to a wide open Lamar Jackson yesterday for a TD? He’s rivaling Cutler with his body language and if somebody who is one of the greatest QB’s in history can coexist with Taysom Hill and welcome the new element it gives the offense, your have thought somebody who has been massively overpaid and mediocre since a single SB win could suck it up.

There are several articles out there about his treatment of Jackson, including a couple of non-throws to an open Jackson and a questionable high pass that would have led him into a slobberknocker had he attempted to catch it. And there's also film of him doing the same to a previous backup.

I doubt there's anything too much to it, other than Flacco might be showing his disdain for wildcat/gimmicky offenses more than trying to make his backups look bad.

Gambling is so brutal

Got the Titans +5 and the game total under 40.
Titans have turned the ball over on their own 15 and their own 40. Horrible.

Good thing the Cowboys gave up a 1st for Cooper.

About to fall to 3-5 with 2 road games coming up, likely at 3-7 after those games. Solid investment.

I don't think that's really the point though, the point is he gave up a sure TD against a divisional rival in a game they pretty much had to win to move at a critical time, just because he's a pouty baby and would apparently much rather lose in a traditional offense than embrace and possibly win with a "gimmicky" one.

He's already getting 20 million a year to be statistically a bottom 10 QB in the league, I'm pretty sure I could at least fake a smile and throw wide open touchdowns for that.
