Watching the end of that Missouri game in a bar was something pretty legendary. There was a dude sitting at the bar all day with his laptop. I assume he was cheering for the teams he had in his bracket because he was going wild when FSU made their comeback, Creighton pulled it out, and he was cheering heavily for Missouri. He was the only one cheering for Missouri. Edit - Forgot to mention that he wanted to fight the guy sitting next to him for cheering for Norfolk St., kind of like the Ravens fan in the Youtube video. I loved it.

I feel really immature for feeling happy that Missouri lost because of our friendly neighborhood Missouri fan. But I don't give a fuck! Heh.

Got Grr....*cough*...*cough...*cough*....choke

If Duke keeps this shit up, my family is going to move out for a few weeks.

Well, maybe Michigan will lose and Purdue will pull an upset, then things are still good for the Big Ten. As an IU fan, I will admit I don't mind this Purdue team. Hummel is a warrior (though I don't care much for Byrd)

Appreciate it. Kind of thought we would run into some height issues, didn't really think it would happen against Norfolk State. In the end it is just a game played by some college guys but it sure sucks investing the whole season for this payoff. (kind of makes me actually support the bowl system where #1 and #2 square off and you don't have to deal with this being on the highlights everytime a #2 plays a #15 for the next 15 years )

Anyways KU is my sworn rival so I can't say with a straight face that I will be rooting for you but if they win the national title I will be happy because there are classy fans like you. (And my pocketbook will enjoy it when back in November I got them at 30 to 1 to win the national title for $50)

I had Mizzou winning it all, as well. I'm not terribly broken up about it, though. I love the upsets. Now, make me look like a genius, Ohio!

Bit of a mess for Ohio at the end, but still up 6. Need to come out attacking in the second. You know Michigan will.

I don't really expect this Duke team to go far. They depend way too much on the 3 and they don't have an inside game to over come a bad shooting night. They'll likely lose to Baylor like they did against Arizona last year.

St Marys can´t hit anything right now, miss a ton of open shots or even layups, very uncharacteristic.

I was taping the Mizzou game... then my phone blew up on the way home. Caught the final shot ironically.. ol Pressey.

I've heard Norfolk shot lights out.. will have to watch it tonight.

A side, somewhat joking, somewhat serious statement.

Virginia - best state for Mid-Major basketball (or specifically tourney mid-majors)?

Over the last couple of decades, three of the biggest cinderella stories were GMU, VCU, and Richmond.

Throw in a few wins here and there by NSU, Hampton, and ODU - not too shabby.

I'm a sad man right now though.

Going in as a 6 or 8 or whatever and losing in the first round is annoying. Going in as a 1 or 2 and not making the second weekend sucks really, really hard. Even if you lose in that second weekend, you can enjoy the week of making the Sweet 16. It just gives you a great week to enjoy it. But losing so early with high expectations- that is just an awful feeling. Sorry, man.

It was one heck of a crazy shooting night for Norfolk State. I posted this partway through the 2nd half, maybe 5 or 7 minutes to go:

Quote:

I'm not saying the upset is guaranteed or anything- this would just be a "true" upset if it happened. They play 10 times and this is one of only a time or two where they are even close.

That said, I just think Mizzou pulls away in this one. Eventually the clutch shots have to stop falling, right? However the magical games are the ones where they never do.

Just got up from a nap and my son told me what happened about Mizzou. I had to laugh since that'll pop MBBF's over-inflated balloon.

I expect to see more #2 and even #1 seeds (SU) not making it to Sweet 16.

Just heard Seth Davis say that Norfolk St. is one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the tourney. They had the game of their lives. O'Quinn was awesome.

Hm.. that's an interesting one. I'm trying to pick through significant mid-majors.

Is Memphis (Tennessee) a mid major? Then again how many big games have they won and not vacated?

How about Temple (Pennsylvania)? Are we defining Mid-major as anyone not part of a BCS football conference?

Gonzaga (Washington) is easily the biggest and baddest Cinderella on the block (ok, that was funny how I put it).

Butler's (Indiana) two Final Fours have to put it near the top, too. They've got some pretty impressive neighbors with Valparaiso who has one of the top 5 most famous shots in NCAA tourney history. And if we're going old school, Indiana State has a pretty famous alum and a legendary 1979 season. But if we go back that far, we open it up a lot.

Cal has quite a few teams and stories: St Mary's, UCSB, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount

Davidson, Creighton, Wichita State, Bradley, So Illinois, BYU, New Mexico, Houston, Utah, Nevada, Xavier, UMass, UNLV, etc- all sorts of mid majors with success in the last couple of decades.

But, yeah, seems like Virginia has a good pedigree for it

Duke really got away with one. A clear shove that should have been a foul ends up getting them a 3 point possession. Lehigh goes down and hits a bomb to take a lead.

Lehigh simply not going away. I keep waiting for Duke to pull away, but they are letting them hang around.

Seriously, Duke? You're going to the roll-the-ball-down-the-court-before-touching-it time preserving move with 6 minutes left to go in a 3 point game?

Wow- that was kindof a chintzy foul on Duke. Sorry, Blue Devils, you got screwed. Only 14,297 more times and the universe will be back even.

Ok- I've somehow missed something this year. What is this "under the arc" rule they keep talking about for the all damn blocking fouls?
