Not to add fuel to any fire, but I have a pair of siblings. The girl cat will walk around the tub when a shower is being taken, and doesn't mind the water. The brother will just hop in and stand there and take it. Neither one has ever seemed to mind. It still boggles my mind. |

I love it when people make arguments like this in any of the animal cruelty threads. See: The multiple Michael Vick threads where this nonsense was trotted out. No one ever said cats > humans or dogs > humans, so you're basically just making a meaningless post because you're nothing more than a trollish asshat.

Yeah, the option wasn't really who was going to be tortured, a human or a pet there, so the discussion humans > cats doesn't even make sense there. If you want to debate, then the question is if your entertainment > animals, which I would hope for the majority of people the answer would be no. |

My point, if you care to go back and read, was pretty simple. Kodos said whoever put the cat in the machine needed to be water boarded or punched in the face. My point basically was that the punishment of water boarding a person for causing stress to a cat was a little excessive. The name calling is good and creative. Keep them coming.

By the way, I have heard the term "trolling" thrown out there a couple of times today. What does that mean? I usually just come to this thread to look at pictures.

Even if we were to take Kodos' waterboarding comment literally (I for one took it as use of hyperbole to make a point), your argument still doesn't make sense as I'm sure the cat was not being punished for torturing some other animal. As for the namecalling, well someone who sits behind a computer and calls people sissies for not enjoying a video where a cat is suffering is an asshat and a troll.

since when is giving a cat a bath torture??
sure most cats don't like water, but i'm not sure i'd classify making it so your cat doesn't fucking REEK to be torture

Having grown up with 7 or 8 cats total, I honestly can not recall a single one that even smelled slightly funky. Christ, I thought the low maintenance was the only reason to own one.
Not that I want to throw my hat in the ring with this silly argument(not even an asshat), stank ass cats that need a bath is news to me. |

No one said simply giving a cat a bath was torture. Quote:
Really? It doesn't matter how you do it, if the end goal is that the cat doesn't smell bad, that means it's not torture? No matter how you go about doing it, it's ok? Last edited by sabotai : 08-02-2010 at 11:07 PM. |

I'm pretty sure a machine designed to wash animals, including cats, which has also been approved by the Board of Veterinary Medicine, might not be considered torture. I don't think anyone disagrees that the machine should have been stopped sooner then it was, but the machine itself isn't torture, no matter how much all/most/some (depending on Kodos mood) cats don't like water |

This is a really dumb argument, especially in this thread. I'll drop it, but I just need to clarify this real quick. I took Kodos literally, don't know him. I don't think any human should suffer physical pain for causing stress to a cat or any other animal. Just my opinion. Never said the bath was punishment for the cat. I never called anyone a sissy. I just don't know anyone who is that sensitive to animals. Never had one in my life. Lastly, it doesn't take a lot of balls to sit behind your computer and call someone names knowing damn well they will never get their hands on you. So keep it up. You sound like a real tough guy.

And I'd say all of that is at least debatable, but I was specifically responding to DT's choice in his words. It gets tiring seeing people so often reword what people said. No one in this thread said anything remotely close to "giving a cat a bath is torture". But I guess it's a habit people pick up when they spend so much time in political threads. Anyway, here's an image, since this the images thread afterall. |

i'm biased against cats at the moment because the people in my new apartment had one before me, and it obviously pissed and shat on the rug, because the carpeted areas of the apartment (namely the bedroom + closet) REEKED when I moved in. Bedroom is okay now, closet still needs another cleaning. And I'm going to have to leave air freshener or spray deoderizer by the washer/dryer and also in the coat closet.
fucking smelly ass cat.

And all of that would have still been the case even if they gave the cat a bath every single day. Your beef is not with cats or with the people who previously had the apartment, but your landlord. Didn't you do a walkthrough before taking the apartment?

Give me a break. Your "sensitive guy. How sweet." comment was clearly implying just that. Quote:
Oh, make no mistake about it, I don't think for a second that it makes me a tough guy or it takes any balls. I'm simply calling it as I see it.

It is my experience that in the taste department, nearly all of the epic bacon culinary creations are fucking nasty, and most importantly taste worse than bacon.
It turns out there's a reason bacon is sliced thin and cooked with direct heat, on both sides, at a high temperature. Screw with that formula at your peril. Bacon turducken is a good example....sounds absolutely terriffic....but look closely at that bacon, it looks like charcoal, alternating with patches of under-the-weave, under-cooked, unrendered bacon that was effectively slow-steamed. Not yumm. Also, why does dude have his shirt off?

Way to ruin bacon, rednecks :P. My favorite bacon is cooked in the microwave but not too long. It must come out soggy with the fat still off-white. oh yum. hate crispy bacon.

Bacon has to be cooked on a stove and not in a microwave. And not crispy, soft. Yummy.

Just had a double pork experience last night...pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon done on the grill...delicious!! Spice rub on the tenderloin for a few hours then seared in all it's porky goodness. Let it cool a little bit and then wrapped in bacon and tossed it on the grill using indirect heat...super yummy!!!!
I can't wait to eat the sandwiches I made with the leftovers for lunch today!! Next time I will be taking a picture...my apologies. |

Making bacon crispy is like cooking Filet Mignon until it's well done. Why ruin the meat by over cooking it? |
