And Matt Prater just put a stepmom on Washington.

There was like 4 bad calls at the end of that Lions game that completely re-wrote the plot.

Watched a replay of Seahawks Hogs Alex Collins score a TD run. Sweet that he is getting another chance and hope he doesn't mess it up.

Holy shit what an ending to the Cards/Bills game. A great play by Diggs and then a hail Mary catch by Hopkins.

Never forget Bill O’Brien traded that guy for a below average RB with a terrible contract.

Hopkins is an absolute beast.

I thought it was over, glad I stayed until the end. Had 3 guys on him too. Crazy finish. Now my beloved Cardinals with a big game next Thursday at Seattle.

I’m not sure that game told us anything other than playing football in a monsoon is really hard and might just be a complete toss up

Drew Brees with broken ribs on both sides of his chest and a collapsed lung.

As I saw someone else note, Jameis Winston about to either make or lose $100 million this month during his audition for the 2021 free agency season.

Ouch, If I was Brees I think I'd probably retire at this point.

For real, that should be it for Brees. I can't imagine getting covid with a collapsed lung would a good thing.

And apparently the injuries were gained over the last two weeks, so kudos to him just for being out there yesterday.

I wonder if more teams might start doing the complete rebuild model now that the Dolphins are having success this year.

It seemed so odd that no one in the NFL had really tanked before - just a lot of incompetence. The NBA has been doing it forever and MLB has really started in earnest in the last decade. Why not NFL?

If they're not going to call stuff like holding, grabbing a bunch of decent linemen and teaching them how to hold is a good first step to a rebuild.

Apparently Taysom Hill is starting over Jameis this weekend. That's either a misdirection and Jameis will take the majority of the snaps, or Payton wants to see if he can run an offense with Hill as the primary QB in anticipation that Brees will retire.

This is going to cause some fantasy league drama where he's listed as a TE still, giving Hill owners a chance to start 2 QBs.

It'll be fun though. I believe his career high for pass attempts in a game is 2.

RE: tanking I think it just makes more sense in basketball than other sports. Draft picks are less predictable and impactful elsewhere so the 'profit margin' if you will from doing it is smaller.

Lions can not get the slightest thing going against PJ Walker(?), Mike Davis(??), and literally the worst 3 down defense in the history of the league down in Carolina. Thankfully the only thing possibly worse would be winning this game, continuing to flirt with the underside of .500 & somehow extending the Matt Patricia sewer explosion.

I posted that about 5 minutes before he threw an arm punt into the end zone for an INT. Holy crap - just put Jalen Hurts out there.

EDIT: I guess it was ruled an incompletion, but just an awful throw.

I guess this is the answer to my question of whether or not Burrow will get broken before they fix the o-line.

Does anyone have a worse track record with number 1 picks?

Burrow
Palmer
Ki-Jana Carter
Dan Wilkinson

The list is longer than that.

Really bad luck today for them. Burrow was having a great year.

Those are the four 1-1 picks the franchise has made.

Michael Pittman might be a good one for the Colts. Now if only Paris Campbell could stay healthy.

I hate them so much - Matty Patty and Danny Q. What a couple of flim-flam men to somehow keep their jobs after last year. Sheila Hemp-Ford is just as clueless as all of the others. I’m officially back in the familiar stage of the season where I just hope the Lions keep losing and everyone else loses the right games to give the Lions the highest possible draft position. It’s awesome that they drafted a shitty cornerback with the third overall pick instead of Tua or Herbert when they had an old, injury prone QB at the helm.

And UofM is terrible. And MSU is terrible. The Wings are terrible. The Tigers are terrible. The Pistons are terrible, but looked interesting and kind of promising during the draft only to look completely baffling the day after. At least UofM and MSU basketball look promising (though I don’t really care at all about college basketball).

Right on. I only marginally care about sports anymore and it's still depressing. For much of the Lions history you could still look at the Pistons, Wings, Wolverines, and/or Tigers ... esp. the Wings during their epic run ... and have something to hang your hat on. There's nothing right now. If it's a major college or pro team in this state, it sucks and has little hope of not sucking anytime soon.

Ouch Burrow.

ACL, MCL, and "other" structural issues, is the official word.
