Sam Darnold is one year older than Kenny Pickett.

Weird.

The 911 audio from the morning Dwayne Haskins died is heartbreaking.

My son and I have been running mock drafts for various teams each night... here's the Eagles draft via the PFF site:

Do you know how hard it is for me to do a draft without trading down at least once or twice? I just want to pick more players, especially in the 3rd and 4th round range.

Also, Kellen Diesch is around almost every time in the 100s-120s, never mind that he's PFF 77 and ADP 99.

no, but i think they're wrong here... when i take Araiza with a pick around 150 i feel like it's an asterisk moment, as i dont think he lasts that long in real life

The Fanspeak site has a zillion stock lists to use, and many of them are terrible (IMO), yielding way too much value, like here:

That's impossibly good, at least for the value I attach to most of those later round players...

Houston Texans' Laremy Tunsil mints draft-night gas mask video into NFT, will donate portion of proceeds to charity

I don't know if he is going to make any money off this. The fact that he might says a lot though.

A slight bit of trivia:

Manning beat Brees' record by one yard and then took himself out of the game with a half or so left to play.

Then when they looked over the tape to do statistical corrections, they realized that one of the swing passes that he was credited with was actually a lateral, so it should have been changed to a run.

But that would be a super dick move to take the record away from him when he easily could have gotten it by staying in for one more series had he known he needed to.

So they (rightly, IMO) just never made the correction.

Excited to see how many Coastal Carolina players go in this draft. Could be a record number of 4 players. Most excited for TE Isaiah Likely who has the chance to be the best player ever drafted from CCU. The other two likely to be drafted, DE Gunter and WR Heiligh both have NFL potential too

Hot talk in the last few days that LB Quay Walker is no longer a middle-of-2nd-round sort of guy, but is in position to go top 40...then top 32... and now rumored to a specific team. I'm guessing it's Philadelphia, but wouldn't be shocked by anyone in that middle wave of round one (Chargers, Saints, Eagles). But sounds like he's the latest guy whose fortune has changed tremendously without anything actually new happening - no game, no film, not news, just buzz.

I know there are guys with more fantasy-type effect, and who are faster and more dynamic... but the guy whose landing spot most interests me tonight is DT Jordan Davis. He just looks like a major impact defensive player, the sort of guy who, if he delivers on his promise, potentially "unlocks" an entire defense by occupying >1 offensive blocker on most plays. I love the potential for him in Baltimore, but if he landed with the Chargers, Eagles, Saints, or Vikings I'd take notice and watch closely. Maybe even the Texans...well, not that closely, I reckon. Still.

I think you are right. He doesn't have flashy numbers because the position really doesn't produce flashy numbers, but he is going to be the cornerstone of any defense he is on.

Christ that graphic is mind blowing. Not only have the Bears never found a QB who can throw for as many yards in a season as Blake Bortles, they have never found a QB who can throw for 700 less.

I hate Charles Davis. He's calling games, he's calling Madden, he's calling the draft, he's fucking inescapable.

Following on Twitter. I don't need all the crap on the TV coverage. Walker goes first overall. Who would have saw that coming before the college season?

I mean if you filled out your mock draft based on the last 4 hours worth of speculation you were probably good. Seen a ton of Stingley to Houston takes today.

The Falcons take a WR. So he and Pitts can look good running routes while the Qb is being killed by pass rushers while the team is down 40 points. Whoopee.

The Jags taking the late-riser pick, who is then immediately revealed to have just been in a 'serious car accident' with two parked cars, seems a bit too on the nose.

Can't say I'm sad that he won't be the new Ngata for the Ravens.

The Ravens always seem to nail it with logical picks anyway.

If they could only nail the WR picks they'd be unstoppable.

Feels like we are getting close to the point where Steelers and Saints may start elbowing ahead to get Willis or Pickett (or whoever the #1 QB is). I feel like the Steelers have Willis there, but I think if every team’s GM listed their #1, there might be votes for 5 or 6 different guys, which isn’t comforting.

Wonder when the last time we've gotten down this far in the draft without a single QB going.

edit: To answer my own question, 1996, when there wasn't a single 1st round QB.

The cost for extending WRs has really increased the value of getting a #1 on a rookie contract.

I don’t love the Pickett pick either. I am glad they didn’t trade up for a QB in this draft. If this ends up being a miss, at least it’s just one pick.

I think Willis is the higher upside pick there. I mean, if you want Baker Mayfield, why not go get Baker Mayfield instead of drafting a guy whose upside seems like "Baker Mayfield"? I'd rather take the boom or bust shot on Willis.

It will be interesting to hear about the choice between Pickett and Willis in however many years. It sure seemed like Colbert and Tomlin were pretty enamored with Willis. Maybe Rooney made the call.

The fact that no one has jumped up to get Willis (after Pickett went) is pretty telling as to where he stands. Unclear if the Steelers reached for Pickett or how many other teams would have considered him between 20 and now. It seems doubtful that any of the current pick holders will got QB in the first round. Maybe Seattle packages those 2nds and gets into the end of the first?

Playing around with mocks the last couple of days, I was getting pretty comfortable with taking BPA at 20 and then hoping to grab Ridder or Corral in the 2nd (possibly moving up a little to do so).

I feel like Detroit and Baltimore are doing really well, too. The Ravens' guys seem really high floor and high ceiling to me.
