What number is Watkins wearing? I was thinking of getting a jersey. I'd assume he would chose 12, but that's not an option. 13 or 16 would be options, but they just traded #13 so 16?

If they just traded #13 wouldn't that make #13 available?

Generally you wouldn't replace a guy in a popular jersey with another guy wearing that exact same number. Or I'd think not, who knows.

I can see the reasoning but was Stevie J really all that popular? He hasn't really done anything in three years. Not like Aaron Rodgers saying I'll take #4, had he done so.

+1

Excessive displays of emotion aren't my thing. But nothing ESPN has done in at least a decade has been. Let the folks have their moment in the sun, they've waited a really long time.

I just thought it was way over the top and staged.

I am as pro gay rights as you can be. I have a cousin who is gay, her and her wife have been together for years and have 2 black children, one adopted on in vetrio, covers the whole diversity spectrum. I love them to death and think they deserve every right I have in this world.

I was fine with the kiss nd the extra time given them that normaly wouldn't be spent on a 7th round pick, but if you don't think they drew it out and started forcing a moment with the cake, etc...then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

And damn right they should have forced it, the more that the kind of mouthbreathers who object to this sort of thing are exposed to it and realise that it's just someone kissing someone else then maybe all the bullshit that surrounds it will die down.

When such an event becomes 'just another display of emotion' then I think it will be job done and should be as widely derided as the usual tears and hugs and 'thank you jesus' moments, but that's far from the case and I applaud the networks for actually showing it.

All we needed was Tim Tebow in the sudio being asked for his comment.

Am I the only one who mostly watched the draft via NFL Network? They spent a little bit of time on it as the draft was coming to a close, and had a nice adult conversation about it and then moved on.

General thought was "if Sam's dream is to be thought of as just another football player, then let's give him his wish and treat him like just another football player". They did spend some time on it, and did show his reaction, but I didn't even know that ESPN showed a kiss because NFLN only showed a little bit of his reaction shot.

Wait? So you're saying that ESPN played this up so they can milk it for a couple more days of coverage? I'm shocked! It's almost as if they have a monetary interest in skewing their coverage a certain stupid way.

Spoiler

Oh, as for the whole ESPN vs NFLN thing, the only way I knew about the incident was because it was hyped here at the FOFC.

Two guys kissing after one of them is drafted in the NFL is an historic moment. Showing an historic moment over and over is completely reasonable and should be expected from a 24 hour news/entertainment channel. None of it seemed staged - it all seemed completely genuine.

Draft cake seemed weird, but I am a staunch supporter of cake for any special occasion.

/goes to eat I just posted cake

And, just FTR, I'm done with having kids so you missed your wish.

I'm guessing that was somebody else, but I do find it funny that other people have wished for the same thing

When I said "come out" I didn't mean birth. I meant "come out" as in tell the world about their sexuality.

His taste in women is pretty well established at this point (and is he ever picky, sheesh). I'm pretty sure you're gonna wind up disappointed.

Jokes aside, that's some hateful shit to be wishing on somebody but hey, if that's how you roll then knock yourself out I reckon.

Maybe it's just me, but I would rather watch two guys making out than Skip Bayless talking. In fact, I'd rather watch that than the vast majority of ESPN's programming.

And there's a lot of things I'd rather watch than Skip Bayless (verb)ing. It's the rich Venn Diagram that is our lives

Well Skip talking is basically making out with himself, so are you saying you have an issue with asexuals? I find that a bit offensive

Historic moment? Nah, nobody will remember Michael Sam or "the kiss" ten years from now.

Sorry, but that's just the way I feel. If God had wanted people to act like Skip Bayless, he would have given us all massive brain damage. ESPN can force the moron agenda on us, but it doesn't make it moral.

I believe I can disprove that one easily enough:

Imagine, if you will, how big a bitch I'd be in that scenario.

Do you really think for a second that would not be something that would be the subject of dire government warnings about the need to take seek shelter immediately?
