okay then, I'll keep my eyes open though. I remember seeing that site pop up a couple times on the RSS feed of deals24download.com, even some really cheap ones, like stuff for 1 cent or something like that...

ahh, found it after typing it, it was World of Good for £0.01 around mid-May. Seeing the British pound sign, I thought it was only available for the UK...

Is it worth a try at that price even if I don't understand the European Soccer system (of demotions, etc.)?

is the league system the only thing you don't know about soccer? I mean, I'd think it'd be better to at least have some interest in the game itself, but the league system is something that you can learn about as you go along. At that price, it is an amazing deal.

WSR,

It is worth it. My first version was 2005. It took me until 2008 before I felt like I knew what the hell was going on. By 2009 I actually understood soccer tactics and could actually create me own. Now with 2010, I love this game and will continue to purchase this game every year after the third patch.

Will it take you 4 to 5 years to like this game, no. But it is worth any and all investment of time and effort. I actually plan on watching the World Cup this year, and this is from someone who knew nothing about soccer before this game.

Steam has Batman: Arkham Asylum 50% off at $19.99.

Gamestop has a Fathers Day deal where you can get select games for half off if you buy any game that's $39.99 or more, though doesn't seem like as good a deal anymore now that you can't have one of the selected games count as your $39.99+ game and half off game. I bought Split/Second for $29.99 and was worried it would get canceled like some others did, though thankfully it's now listed as shipped.

Does FM2010 offer anything similar to the World Cup format?

Well the World Cup is contested in the game universe, and you can manage national teams through qualifying and the World Cup, yes.

FYI........CheapAssGamer.com is giving away their 360 machines (5 total) from the Microsoft presser. Nice gesture and a good way to replace the old 360 if you want to give it a try.

Hmmm, my 360 is freezing a couple of minutes after I turn it on. Do I go for the cheap old model or the probably more reliable new model?

Don't know if I feel like dealing with the whole RMA process, though I think I'll call in and see what they say before I make a decision.

Depends on what the RMA process costs- there is a benefit to free

SI - Yeah, that was one of my concerns: Do they pay for the shipping and the boxes, or do I have to pay for that?

if you're still covered i think they pay for shipping. i think all you need to do is provide a box.

or worst case scenario all you do is provide shipping to them. you definitely dont need to pay shipping both ways IIRC

I would be careful of this as some users on the OOTP forums were complaining about problems because they bought from the non-ootp site. Patches are usually issued much later. I think they are up to date now, but the planned major update will probably be some weeks later on Impulse and Trymedia versions.

I personally would never ever buy OOTP from anywhere other than OOTP's site. Users that do so often seem to get frustrated with lack of support from those other sites and end up at the OOTP site where they can't always get the help needed because of it being a slightly different version. Patches often are much slower and it seems that stability sometimes is worse as well.

That's bullshit. If OOTP wants the revenue created from other sites they need to support those buyers the same as those that buy through the OOTP website.

Don't yell at me for trying to provide warning. For the most part, they do try to support those users, but it is a problem when their patches don't work for those users and it has to come from the supplier that user bought it from though.

Sorry for trying to help ensure people are armed with the facts before making a purchasing decision.

Relax, I'm not yelling at you. My problem is entirely with developers(OOTP isn't the only one) that want increased revenue from multiple distribution channels, but don't provide equal support.

Yeah, I've become a big fan of the hidden object games by downloading a few of them for free. Not overly difficult to play and you can jump in and out of them at any time if you only have a few minutes to play. I like that.

I've always felt like it was the other distribution channels that don't provide the timely support rather than the developer.

That I don't know. However, I really don't care. When I buy a game I'm worried about the publisher, not the distributor. If it's billing or download problems, sure that falls on the distributor, but timely appearance of patches and compatibility issues go back to the publisher, IMO. If your distributor can't provide adequate customer service don't allow them to sell your game.

Get it while it is still hot. Unbelievable prices for one of my favorites:
Mass Effect: $4.99
Mass Effect 2: $23.99

Only played the first one and was very impressed what seemed to be a movie first and rpg second. Hoping the sequel is going to live up to the first one.

Yeah, I grabbed Mass Effect 1 yesterday, because $5 is an insane price. I had no idea what Mass Effect was, but after about 1.5 hours of play I'm really enjoying it. Solid story so far.
