sounds like a crazy drive-by. Lucky to be alive. Anyone know where Aaron Hernandez was?

Or maybe one of the Pouncey bros?

Makes my earlier comment about Ingram that much more off base. If that's the market for McCoy, then Ingram at 4/16 is a value contract for the Saints

Yeah I have lots of mixed feelings about that Suh signing. Visions of Mike Wallace keep dancing in my head.

The amount of money the Dolphins could potentially be paying the trio of Tannehill, Wallace and Suh is terrifying.

Frank Gore to the Eagles. Not surprised he's gone at all. Also not sure how he fits with that style of offense at his current age.

Well consider that Tannehill's current contract tops out at $5MM a year, Wallace at $17MM, and whatever Suh is scheduled to make. Last year the Lions paid Stafford $17MM, Calvin Johnson made $13MM while Suh made $22MM, and the Lions were still able to field a competitive team....but you could also argue they're paying for that "creative" accounting now.

Tannehill is going to be on a 1 year 18m or so contract next year. Wallace counts 13.7, Suh could be in that 15m range depending on structure.

absolutely not a guy I thought would get a contract on day 1. Seems like a sign in July or October sort of guy.

Not sure where that number came from.

Last month, it was reported that the Dolphins were having internal discussions about giving Tannehill a new contract at about $15 mil/year. That was the basis of my previous post.

Probably a little less, but his rookie contract runs four years. This month, I believe, they have to decide whether to exercise an option that ties him to a guaranteed fifth year at the transition tag level.

The idea is that it forces Miami to spend this time deciding whether to give him that big free-agent level deal going into his fourth year. Otherwise, he plays out the rookie contract and becomes a free agent regardless of how well he plays this year.

Every once in a while you get a situation like this, where the team genuinely doesn't know whether it wants to commit to a quarterback beyond the upcoming season. The option prevents them from tempting Tannehill with a well-below-market long-term starter deal that can't easily be renegotiated if he hits it big.

Sanchez being brought back as the starter in Philly for twice his salary last year? Maybe the Mariota rumors are true and Foles is part of the package going the other way. You don't pay a guy 4.5 a year to be a backup - maybe a stopgap while you train up your rookie though. Very interesting.

Suh is kind of the anti-Incognito, though the results are pretty much the same. Off the field he's a thoughtful, soft spoken, introverted dude that isn't any kind of a locker-room cancer (he's closer to a ghost), but he just can't necessarily keep his shit together on the field.

As a Lions fan I'm admittedly harboring some bias, but I think Suh's reputation is mostly a media concoction, and I've seen Jared Allen (and plenty of others) do similar things, consistently over the course of his long career, without any kind of vilification. On the other hand, Suh's somehow made sure that all of his infractions were done in the most obvious way, while everybody's attention was squarely on him, and at the worst possible time, which does seem to point to some sort of problem personality, rather than just getting occasionally carried away.

1. Will be signing Jeremy Maclin on Tuesday
2. Restructured Tamba Hali's contract, so he won't have to be a cap casualty

I was skeptical of 18M and then actually looked at the list of highest paid QBs. What a poo poo platter. I think the only QB you could say is accurately compensated for their actual contribution is Aaron Rodgers and maybe Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. Eli Manning has a 17M base this year so sure why not 18M.

Yes. Crazy amount of guaranteed money, but the few all-Pro-level defensive players out there are all going to receive record-setting deals.

Revis Island is going to cost more than Tattoo and Mr. Roarke ever imagined.

It's been looking more and more like he's not the answer, but what the hell. The 49ers are looking like a dumpster fire right now. How it can go so bad, so quickly is beyond me.

Edit: Torrey Smith to the 49ers is the only rumor I'm reading, where did you find this king?

I am not a huge Kaepernick fan. But you can't deny his physical talent. You would think that the team would be willing to give him a year with a new coaching staff to see if he can reach his potential.

On the flip side, if he has another bad year, then you have killed his trade value going forward. So if you have decided that he is not the answer, then now is pretty much when you would have to move on from him.

Also, I remember when he signed his extension that a lot of the guaranteed money kicked in at various points throughout the deal (as opposed to one huge upfront signing bonus). The timing of shopping him may have as much to do with that as anything. Not sure of the details there.

According to pro football talk something big is going to happen with the 49ers today and it is has nothing to do with Kaepernick.
