What the hell is far past abortion on demand? Are Ohioans now required to get an abortion?

Just normal political rhetoric painting your opponent as extreme.

Issue 2 passed: When can I buy recreational marijuana in Ohio?

ETA: And reading through the article I will be surprised if the "social equity" portions doesn't get challenged in court.

Of course the opposite problem are people so ultrafanatical serious and devoid of humour and demand that everyone else be. FOr instance a friend on facebook posted to another friend "We did it!" meaning...we passed issue 1 for abortion. I replied "Just the two of you? Whoa. Such power!". The second friend gave me a long tldr paragraph about how important this issue is and that it's an ongoing battle for women and their rights and this is not the time for snarkiness.

This is why democrats lose elections.

It reminds me back with the me too posts on facebookk that if you DARED be male and commented on the issue...even agreeing with it, you were told not to say anything because it had nothing to do with you.

Also in an online playreading group what is going overboard. They were going to do Addams Family values then suddenly bailed on that because since The original character of Gomez was Latino and Raul Julia was, that without a Latinx actor to play him they would have to cancel. A) this is just a for fun reading that no one will see and b) JUST doing an accent is not offensive nor is playing a character and c) um...John Astin.

It is going to be interesting how much they will try to restrict it. It makes sense to divert much of the tax revenue toward combating the opioid problem, but sadly that probably just means more military equipment for police and not more easily accessible rehab clinics.

The Ohio GOP is talking about ignoring the results of the abortion vote and passing a ban then passing a law to take abortion issues out of the jurisdiction of Ohio courts.

Does it matter? They ignored the gerrymander result and now they're going to ignore this. So long as they run in districts made for them to win, they'll continue to rule like they are in an apartheid state.

It's not like they're really losing elections in Ohio though. Yeah gerrymandering is an issue but they won the last senate race and governor's race.

Glass half full: GOTV matters. If the GOP's insistence on being awful to everyone continues and it spurs Democratic turnout, we can be hopeful about 2024.

Also its not like the GOP cares about a constitutional amendment or anything...

Ohio Republicans move to exclude judges from interpreting enshrined abortion rights | Ohio | The Guardian

I'll admit I voted against issue 1 but I do respect the constitutional process.

One big problem with issue 1 in Ohio is that the way its was worded no body really knew what they were voting for or against. All anyone saw was abortion yes or no. Then again that is what the politicians want, don't bother reading anything just vote the way we tell you.
