So I was in the running to be on this jury yesterday, but I'm pretty sure my experience being on a jury in Chicago that convicted a man of a drug-related murder got me ruled out by the defense lawyers. They interviewed 82 potential jurors to get 16 slots filled. I was slightly disappointed not to get picked, but my wife and father were both relieved when they found out what the case was about.

I guess i just assumed this was an Aaron Hernandez trial?

I was called in for a jury panel a couple of years back, things were hectic at work and I really was hoping to be excused. Note: about three years before I served as foreman on a rape case that went on for over a month and was frankly one of the most stressful experiences I had ever experienced. This new case was a drunk driving case. I admitted to drinking to drunkeness. Neither side asked if I had ever gotten behind the wheel after drinking. I really expected to get bumped, but both sides found me suitable. I don't apparently have a clue about how to avoid getting selected once I get into the box to be interviewed.

Just in case anyone was curious, the jury found him guilty.

I've got to report for jury duty selection next week... hoping I don't get picked.
