Shoot. I'll have to average out my last couple of international friendlies to see if I can still issue the guarantee to receive your travel money back.

You sort of have to be careful who you accept overseas games with. You COULD make a small amount of money if the weather is acceptable and the team is sufficiently popular. I think I did, uhhh, once. Made US$100 or something like that for my drubbing.
Oh . . . and my worst loss beats yours, Horned: 10-0 about 3 weeks ago. In a league game. Ow. We could sit comfortably for a couple of weeks. |

Hmmm...it appears that my worst loss ever was a 6-nil drubbing at the hands of the Crap Daddies (fun team names in this game). That was in last season's Windy City Cup. There are some high-quality teams in Chicagoland, let me tell ya!
Oh, and I am not to blame for this phenomenon. RavenHawk is the one who got me hooked in the first place.

It's all NYFAN's fault.
Horned and I did our best to spread the crack around, and by golly, it worked really well!

My goal at the moment is to get the good old Skydog assimilated.
After that, maybe I'll work on Ryan.

I'm tied for worst drubbing. Daedelus killed me 7-0, and ardent at least allowed a goal for a 8-1 loss on my part. We will be good........Soon........I hope......

Well I have a couple of announcements:
1) The Midwest Ice Storm FC are officially supporters with a app in to the FOFC Fed. 2) Looking to add to our Fan Club - The Blizzard Bunch 3) Still hoping to get a shot at promotion...last match if the year is against the #1 team, and we are tied in pts...but his squad is way better in paper. 4) Currently in the middle of a 10 match win streak. 5) Still hoping to beat Ardent in the FOFC Cup and move to the Semi's, although without getting a big head happy to be in the Quarters. 6) Looking for a friendly for this week. 7) If you want another game to get you sucked in that is not quite as time addictive. Try Simulated Sports College BBall game. Pretty simple and a good challenge as you play against 250+ other teams in a mock world. http://209.196.45.56/bask/ 8) Last but not least.....has anyone noticed that both the North Country Raiders and Screamin' Seamen are in the top 15 in Fan Club Support. Way to go!! Midwest Ice Storm FC (70500)

How many goalies does the average team carry?
What ability level? Keep in mind I am hovering around the $0 dollar mark waiting for my youth squad to pull in some cash. |

I carry one. Most teams carry two, and I've heard of teams with three.
Most carry 2 so that they can protect the starter from friendlies...or that they train keepers. That's fine. I have had only one keeper for a long time now. I haven't had an injury to any keeper yet either. If I do, I'll simply buy another off the market. There's sure to be one that is at least somewhat useable for purchase before the next match. That way I avoid paying the salary of an additional keeper, which are kind of high priced.

That reminds me, does anyone have some webspace to put the fed logo? I had it on one of those free ebay auction picture sites.
Oh yeah I challenged 79 teams this week. Beat that!

See I am working on international relations. I boosted Mexico's economy last week so I turned my attention to Poland. All 79 teams were online Polish teams.

I'd say you could boost my economy, but my fans don't like your Horned Toad groupies, and therefore boycott every time you come up to North County.
It's sad, but I've learned to deal with it.

I carry 22 players typically, my starting squad and my second team. The second team plays in friendly matches and act as backups for the starters.

20-21. One less because of the lack of a second keeper. I sometimes start one player at a different position for both games...in that case, I'll have 20 or even less.

I'm still in building mode, so my roster varies wildly... an hour agi I had about 31 players, but I think three just sold off. I am aggressively churning players just to make money... it's the economist in me screaming for an exploitable market. I cannot stop.

Quiksand, I am with you 100%. I am trying to find the secret in making money via player turnovers. I will probably end up carrying somewhere between 25 and 35 players until the end of this season, since I am completely out contention anyway. At the start of season 19, I may settle down to a more reasonable number. I'm playing by ear. |

I just went and applied a few minutes ago. I figured that there is no way in Hell I am not getting Champ Man 4, so I might as well get into soccer mood a little early. What's really funny, ardent, is that I didn't even read the above quote until after I had joined. I read this thread because I figured I better start reading hattrick threads so I know WTF is going on. Hopefully I will hear from the people that run the site soon. I applied for a team in California (in USA, duh) and my chosen name is the Stonecutters. My username, not surprisingly, is Chiefrum. Chief Rum

I have been beaten pretty bad in a friendly by Blade's Bombers 5-1. I only made about a 1000 dollars from the game only 550 people showed up.

thats why when i challenged ardent, i chose to go to his place thinking we might get a few more fans to show up. But 5-1 wins are always acceptable in my book.

Hey, should I be concerned that my password doesn't work?
I realize I don't have my team yet, but it seemed to allow me to log-in before. It made me think there was stuff I could do, even though I don't have a team, such as check out conferences or talk to people and what not. Anyway, now it doesn't. I changed my password, so I thought that might be it. But when I went through lost password, the one it sent me was what I expected. And then I went back to the site, and it still didn't work. I was very careful about what username and password I put in (the correct ones, of course). I certainly hope that this gets cleared up when I get a team. ardent, I look forward to checking it out. It looks like fun from what little I have been able to understand so far. Chief Rum

Chief,
I've heard of user problems like that before. Perhaps you could send a message to one of the hattrick guys if you're still having problems accessing it. If you can, I'd write GM-George. I've never had problems logging in so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

Alright, Hattrick breathren, I have a question for you. One of my defenders is suspended. It says he is suspended on his player page and he has a little red card next to his picture. However, when I go to set defenders for my match tomorrow, his name is not greyed out or anything and I'm able to set him into my lineup.
Is this a bug? Will he automatically be replaced by someone else when gametime arrives? I thought players who were suspended were forced to miss one league match. What gives?

Do not put him in your line-up. Even though he is not grayed-out or anything, he still cannot play in your next league match. I believe that, if you did list him as a starter, you would play the entire match short a man. Best just to list a different defender as your starter.

Anyone want to take an educated guess as to how many weeks of training this guy might be from passable keeping? And also, how the hell does powerful affect a keeper?
