Finally got my game in.
This team has potential. Like it. My QB probably should have been made the starter last year but I just couldnt do that to Jason Jones. Sophomore Devin Rankin just through his hat into the ring for Heisman talk... |

Just got on and saw that! Bah! Oh well, more time to play Stellaris this morning. USC's recruiting is done!
Edit: Actually more time for NBA 2k16 first... I just drafted a stud SF after pulling off a few moves to get the #1 pick. I can't wait to see how develops.

We absolutely crushed Oregon. Somehow they managed to run 50 plus plays, but they only managed 87 total yards. I would guess that yardage total is what it is because we sacked their QB 14 times, hurried him damn near every other time he threw, and generally made life hell for the Oregon offense. It was a good thing, because their defense was hard as hell to move the ball on. Now, we put up 52 points, but our receivers only managed like 20 YAC for the whole game. Tight windows all game long, no real running room on run plays.. They have a LB Ali something that is just all over the damn field for them. He blew up at least 7 or 8 plays all by himself, cutting what would have been a 10 or 15 yard run down to 2 or 3. He was in passing lanes all day too, eventually causing us to just deliberately avoid his side of the field.
Our kick returner broke a 109 yarder for 6 as well, the only real "big play" we managed all game.

USC completely destroyed Washington State on the scoreboard, but they moved the ball very well against us with over 700 passing yards! It was an offensive showcase with USC having almost 1100 yards of offense!!
We played our backups the entire 4th quarter but kept scoring at a breakneck pace. Some highlights of the stats: Both starter Rob Bell and backup QB Walter Spencer rushed for over 100 yards. Between them, they rushed for 308 yards and 2 TD's. Bell had 8 passing TD's and 2 Int's, his arm is so strong that I tried to force it into bad windows. HE had over 500 yards passing. Spender had 163 yards passing and 3 TD's in his 4th quarter action. We had 13 different receivers catch a ball including our starting FS who played WR in the 4th quarter when I went to 2nd string. Jordan Burks, our starting FS, caught 1 pass for a 63 yard TD! 3rd string QB James Johnson also had a catch for 21 yards. We had 3 receivers with over 100 yards including true freshman phenom TE Mike Harris. Harris also had 3 TD's to tie star WR Brandon Rust. JR DE Larry Fuller led our team with 4 sacks and a fumble recovery. Terrible defensive game in many respects which concerns me... but wow, this offense almost makes me wish I had started Bell last year. He throws a better deep ball than Gilmore ever did. |

Wow, Baylor hung 43 on us and we only managed to run 31 plays. On one of their scores, their LT fake snapped it to the QB and ran it in uncontested from a few yards out.
Thankfully for us, we returned 3 kicks and a punt for TD's, and one of those was on an onside kick, which I did not know you could return. The replay is very keystone cops, worth a watch. It was a weird, weird game. Many of the plays Baylor made offensively were such miraculous, skin of the teeth type plays that I found myself voicing my disbelief audibly to no one in particular. In the end, we will take the W on the road and another instant commit and try to build off it next week. Hopefully our pass rush can get some help from the coverage unit in that one. They couldn't cover crap today.

We beat Oklahoma last week but it was a struggle.
47-38 but that included a last second TD by me. In the first half they shut me down and turned me over 3 times, luckily I was able to hold them to FGs as I trailed 16-0 but it could just as easily been 28-0/ |

That is 3 games against Top 5 teams on the road. Its been a miserable start to the season. I think the scheduling gods are trying to squeeze me out. |

Baylor is barely even in the top 25 anymore after starting out the year at #17! And Oklahoma was a locked conference game. I'll take credit for OSU though. But you wanted your home games later in the season!

USC with a great week off the field as we get 2 more commits including a huge 4 star T from California and a 4 star OLB from Georgia.
However, on the down side we dropped to #4 in the polls. Hopefully, we can demolish #11 Ole Miss and move back up the polls. Game time! |

Our offense started off slow in the first half, but our defense was very stout and we didn't surrender a TD to them until late in the 4th. However, our offense threw a pick, lost a fumble, and had too many drops. Despite a slow start, we were up 28-6 at halftime.
In the 2nd half, we started hitting on all cylinders and blew them out. Some stats from the game: Despite only 2 passing TD's in the first half, Bell finished with 10 passing TD's for the game. Despite being under 50% passing for under 200 yards at halftime, he finished at 67% passing for almost 500 yards. Bell also ran it 14 times for 126 yards and a TD to lead our team. However, HB Ryan Rowe showed he is a valuable back and had 114 yards on 16 carries and a TD. We had 6 receivers with at least 1 TD. RS Freshman T.J. Lambert is looking like he will be a superstar before his career is done. He was the guy who got it going in the 2nd half. He finished with 6 catches for 101 yards and 4 TD's. Our star Senior WR Rust also went over 100 yards and we almost had a 3rd receiver over 100. Our defense was stout with 7 sacks and a pick along with countless pass deflections. Our defense also did very well against their run game holding them to under 100 yards on the ground. Very happy with the performance and hopeful that showing we can play defense against a top 15 team will move us up the polls! |

Potential problem - I have tried to play USF twice. Both times, they fielded no kick return team, and their defense lined up in an 11-0-0 with everyone in a 2 point stance facing their sideline. I can literally run any play and score, and after that, I can kick the ball short and recover it, then score again. I could probably score about 500 points.
If this doesn't fix itself... Should I just see how bad I can beat USF for shits and giggles? Or.. Should I do my best to somehow make the game respectable in order to not disturb the statistical integrity of the league? I have no idea how I would do that except to maybe put up about 600 yards by running my players out of bounds after a gain of 10 or so yards every play, then spend the rest of the time running clock and kneeling. Hopefully it will fix itself. Otherwise I fear the number 1 ranking for FAU has broken the game.

Were saw this in another league I play in several seasons ago. Guy tried re-download ing a dozen times and couldn't get it to play normal. According to him if you kick it through the end zone their offense would come out and play normal. But the Ford never fixed itself. That is a big Stas league so we agreed 150 rushing and 400 passing was cool. He hit that and kneeled it out or punted it. |

All right, so I will hit my season average in yards and kneel it out then. Their offense does come out if I kick it out of the back of the end zone, but their defensive coordinator is some new age guy who believes in the power of the unit.. So he has everyone line up on the line and lock arms, forming a "barrier of incredible strength" up the middle.. No matter what.
I'll do that tonight probably.

USC gets another commit this week and it is a big time recruit. WE got one of the fastest WR's in the nation who also has excellent size at 6'4 210 and can perform spectacular catches. He was only the 18 athlete in the nation and is only a 4 star player but our coaches think he is a true diamond in the rough.
Now, we are ready to take out frustration at remaining #4 in the nation against Ohio State who is #8 and should give us a boost in the rankings if we can beat them soundly... |

Or not. I lost power in the 4th quarter. Tried to restart despite thunderstorms in the area because today is the only day I really have to play for the next week or so. Unfortunately, power flickered out again. I'm running low on time before family gets home, but I'll give it one more go.

Finished the game. Beat Ohio State 52-36 which was very similar to where we were in the 4th quarter of the 1st game. Main difference was that Bell had over 100 yards rushing by halftime in the initial game. This game he struggled to get to 100 by the end of the game. Most of the other stats were very similar I think. Big difference is that our promising starting freshman TE got injured in this game and will miss 7 weeks. Do injuries stick in this version? I can never remember.

Our defense again allowed just 3 points against Oregon, and scored 9 (interception return for TD, safety). Unfortunately, a fumble that was returned for a TD by Oregon ruined our 3-points-per-game average allowed for opponents this season. 79-10 was the final score.
