Jazz lose to Memphis, Lakers are in the playoffs.

If the Lakers win against Houston, they are #7 and get the Spurs.

If the Lakers lose, they are #8 and get OKC.

Hope the Lakers win. An OKC-Hou first round match up has so much potential for an FU series from James Harden.

The NBA needs to contract some teams if that's a team fighting for a playoff spot. The Jazz were fucking terrible and didn't even look like they wanted to be in.

If ESPN has the info right, all 8 first round series matchups had regular season splits of 2-2.

Probably 50/50. Starting to shift more and more against Rose though. Lot of people just stopped giving a crap. Probably wouldn't be taking heat if his brother didn't open his mouth.

Gasol with a 17/20/11, wowza. 15/10/5.5 since he´s back from that injury.

Curry breaks the record, 272 for the season on 45.3% from deep.

I don't think he should be out there if he isn't mentally ready to play, which was obvious from his comments once he was physically cleared. I have no issue with him being out this year and starting with training camp next season.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. I had a chance to get Rockets playoff tickets yesterday as part of a limited presale but they didn't have date information so I didn't want to jump at it. Now, it's going to be a scramble at noon for next Saturday's Game 3

All of those West series games are compelling. I think Simmons said this to Lowe on his podcast, but Doug Moe really should throw out the ceremonial jump ball for that Denver/GS series. Looking forward to high scoring affairs.

I don't have any illusions of the Rockets beating Oklahoma City but just picked up a pair of tickets for me and my wife for game 3 in Houston.

I've seen quite a few sporting events in the last couple of years: Rockets playoffs, Kansas in the tournament, NBA All Star weekend (Rising Stars game), a pair of Astros Opening Days, Olympic Swim trials, Super Bowl Media Day, Big Ten Tournament, and the Indianapolis 500.

I think the Lakers biggest issue was injuries. The fact that they kept getting better despite the mass of injuries speaks well for next year.

I don't see it either. We may very well be in a Jordan like phase where Miami is the default pick unless something happens.

David Kahn has to be fired after this season, right? I can't see how any competent owner would bring him back, though sadly Glen Taylor is far from competent.

Jokes aside, he hasn't been completely awful. I mean, aside from Wes J/Flynn/DWill, Pekovic has been a great asset and of course Rubio.

But I guess even a blind squirrel can find a nut.

The easiest way to beat the Pacers is to attack Hibbert with a high screen, he's so bad at defending it, it's a liability. They'll be exposed by NYK in round 2, methinks.

Pekovic was drafted by McHale, and if drafting Rubio is the only the best move a GM has made is 4 seasons they certainly don't deserve a 5th.

I'm hoping someone new comes in and blows up the whole roster.

No, just dreaming of an alternate timeline where the Timberwolves didn't trade away the good players they could have had. Instead we have this, the darkest timeline.

Minnesota Timberwolves to reportedly replace David Kahn with Flip Saunders | The Point Forward - SI.com

We'll always remember the good times...

You Realize How Badly the T-Wolves Screwed Up the 2009 Draft, Right? - The Triangle Blog - Grantland

Quote:
So if you're scoring at home …

The Timberwolves turned a potential Rubio/Curry/Lawson windfall into just Rubio (who didn't come to Minnesota for two extra years); two years of Flynn (played in Australia last year); backup guard Malcolm Lee; three injury-plagued years and more than $15 million of damaged goods (Webster and Roy); and nearly $6 million of Webster/Milicic buyouts. They also briefly had and lost Motiejunas (a promising rotation guy for Houston), Parsons (no. 48 on the trade value list), Mirotic (Chicago's best prospect overseas) and Cole (a rotation guy for a 66-win team); and they have Memphis's 2013 first-rounder (near the bottom of a dreadful draft) and Brooklyn's 2013 second-rounder to show for their troubles.

Assuming Seattle gets an expansion team in a year or two, isn't that a solution that means another city doesn't get a team ripped away from them?

I'm no Stern supporter and it may well be that there is no expansion team. But as a neutral I am happy for the diehard Kings fans. God knows there's fuck all else to do in Sacramento

If the Kings were moved the NBA basically loses it's ability to hold cities hostage in the future. NBA clearly prefers public financing and in the long run, I suppose all owners should. Can't believe I got my hopes up....holy meh.

I'm in this line. While it must suck to have to wait, especially after the deal looked set in stone, isn't it better to not uproot a team from another fan base? Has the NBA said definitively when they're going to get back to Seattle?

IF expansion is in play then sure that is better. Everything out there indicates the NBA has zero desire to expand however. Some lawyers are gonna make money on the lawsuits that come out of this.

I would rescind my "Fuck the NBA" comment if they decided to expand and allow the Hansen/Ballmer group to get a fresh team. We'll see if that happens, as it goes against their meta strategy of having an open market they can use as relocation blackmail.

Stern would still be the devil, but it's the only realistic solution in this instance. Leave it up to Stern and his asshat minions to reject logic under the guise of believing the stupid decision they allowed years ago to be prudent.
