Not sure why nobody else warming up. Not a single remaining pitcher in the Maddon trust tree I guess. Edwards game to save/lose I guess.

It's only fitting if this game gets the tying or go-ahead run to the plate here

That's a 25 year old pitcher from Newberry, SC.

Think about yourself at 25 for just a moment. You think you could handle this?

I told my father the same thing when he was coming in. He's in a position that maybe 10 or 15 people in the history of the game have been in and he's a 25 year old kid. I think the kid did ok even though he did give up a hit and a walk.

So it's now 1:20 am, we're however deep into the postgame.

Not one second with anyone from the Indians.

Now that's fine by me but I don't think I've ever seen that happen before.

Im very partial but this may even top the 91 series considering the teams and the streaks involved in this matchup. We got a good mixture of pitching and offense in this series.

I did not see it but I could buy into this scenario for every sport every year.

I remember when John Lackey was given the ball in game 7 for the Angels. It was pretty crazy as I think he was 24 years old

For four years I lived within walking distance of Wrigley Field (and went past it every day for a couple years on my commute). The scene outside the stadium as they won was just incredible.

This is one of those games where you knew you were watching something special as it was taking place. . . but it gets even better the next day. What a special game. Simply amazing.

I still think Maddon botched the pitching and have ZERO idea why he seemed so excited about taking out a pitcher who had an ERA under 1.50 for the postseason and was a key cog in them getting there in the first place. I don't think I will ever understand that move.

The look of joy on Bryants face as he grabbed the ball and threw it to first will be something I will remember for a long time.

Three things I don't think people will talk about enough:

1 - The tag up at first base which set up that entire game winning sequence last night.

2 - Chapman pitching that 9th inning. He could have easily caved. That was an amazing inning.

3 - The OVERALL game from Davis. Both good and bad. The good: How clutch can you get with that HR at bat? Fouls off pitches and then lines one into left. Amazing. The at bat in the 10th. Again, solid and a hard lined shot. The bad: Two kind of lazy throws. He should have thrown out Bryant, he should have thrown the guy out at second.

This please .

It's amazing to realize that in the last 12 years that 3 of the longest baseball streaks in history fell - the 2004 Boston Red Sox winning for the first time since 1918, the 2005 Chicago White Sox winning for the first time since 1917 (the one people tend to forget - but BTW look at that symmetry! The White Sox and Red Sox won back to back WS in 1917 and 1918 and then didn't win again until back to back WS in 2004 and 2005) and now the 2016 Chicago Cubs.

Don't forget the Giants. Not quite that same length, but 56 years is nothing to shake a stick at.

As it turned out they came back from the next commercial break after I posted & we heard from Francona.

I definitely wasn't complaining about the absence of it, but it really stood out as unusual to me.

What a freaking amazing series. On the edge of my seat for most of the series as the Cubs never seemed to be able to put games away and the Indians were pretty incredible at times. As I life long Cubs fan I sat there after the final out speechless. Funny thing is that I watched the last three innings with my two sons (24 and 17) who really have no interest in baseball but were right there with me down the stretch biting their nails just as intensely as I was. My 17 year old son actually made each of the World Series games must see TV. I had a lot of fun explaining to him the little ins and outs of baseball that he did not learn from a couple years of little league. So this World Series will always hold a special spot in my heart above and beyond the fact that the Cubbies emerged victorious.

For those of us of a certain age, this is another one of those amazing facts that came about with the Cubs winning the World Series last night.

There are 18 year old Chicago sports fans who have experienced the Cubs winning a title but have never experienced the Bulls or Bears winning one.

Damn.

On a similar note, the post-game coverage the other night was the first time I ever realized that Theo looks a fair bit like John Cena.

And shockingly, everyone there claimed to have been in attendance for Game 7 in Cleveland.

Congrats to Salvy on a fourth straight Gold Glove. Catchers are like an offensive lineman.......you don't know how good of a job they're doing until you have a bad one.

You don't realize how important it is till the playoffs. Cubs would have been in trouble without Ross and Contreras gunning down runners all playoff long.

I'm firmly in the camp now of I don't care how bad they are offensively, I just want a good defensive catcher.

That and also a catcher who handles the calls for the pitching staff well. Offense is just a bonus.
